oh my god these are amazing.
I pity anyone who does not look at these images
I hope loads of people watched the stream. Great publicity for NASA, and a great way to show politicians that we really do care-- as a society, not as enthusiasts.

At the time of the landing there were ~210,000 viewers on the stream, and it was also being broadcast on various television networks

holy shit
It's hard to believe that Opportunity is still running, ~10 years down the line. Curiosity will get to work along with her big sister :3:
rover comic
That's all I could think of the entire stream

Rovers cannot think nor feel for they do not have brains
That's all I could think of the entire stream
At least Opportunity is there, like Max said. <3
I was in the other thread in SH. .. damnit.
I can't believe I didn't see this thread when it was made.
At least I found it now, within the hour it landed.
I didn't even know that Curiosity launched. Man I feel out of the loop there. :v:

There are people, like myself, that give a human personality to mechanical things like cars, computers, and rovers like this. Humans are made to feel compassion towards things, it doesn't help that the rovers are so goddamn adorable.
This America patriotism shit is getting quite annoying.
If it continues like this, humanity will never get very far.
The rovers fucked now

The countdown to landing now says that the launch is today lol
You can tell how big a deal this it, BBC breakfast news just talked about Curiosity for over 30 seconds.

I hate it. The whole time my girlfriend and I were watching, we were talking about how NASA deserves a MUCH bigger slice of the money pie than what they currently get. We don't need such a fucking huge military, no one can stand up to us even if we cut a quarter of it off. Of course that wont happen. The point here being that we need to invest getting to other planets instead of committing global suicide. We're getting nowhere with all this pointless squabbling over ~different ideologies~.
who the fuck keeps lowering and raising the audio in the stream, my parents are asleep and i keep having to turn it up
The audio is really crappy :(

how many rovers you got on mars, norway?
who the fuck keeps lowering and raising the audio in the stream, my parents are asleep and i keep having to turn it up
Yep, that's what I said at the beginning of the stream, whoever their audio technician is sucks
how many rovers you got on mars, norway?
Hilarious.
As far as I'm concerned, these rovers belong to every human on Earth, and it would not have been possible without the contributions to technology by many nations.
