Technically it's more like, [sp]SSJGSS, or Super Saiyan God SS as if to rank it off. It's essentially Super Saiyan + Super Saiyan God, the true power of the form after training it. Vegeta has it too.[/sp]
[sp]Goku and Vegeta have been training with Whis (or at least Goku) and master the Super Saiyan God form; then they unlock the new form, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, as a result.[/sp]
For some reason when freeza comes out of his ship, i heard in my head, "Kept you waiting, Huh?" and kiefer sutherland's voice.
[sp]Goku and Vegeta have been training with Whis (or at least Goku) and master the Super Saiyan God form; then they unlock the new form, Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, as a result.[/sp]
are they going to go to super saiyan god super saiyan 2 and 3 too
gez so many forms
Problem is, Vegeta never went Saiyan God, Goku didn't either until he had help but he remembered the form so could tap into it, Vegeta never got there, so how?
Basically when Goku got the god power boost, it made SSJ forms irrelevant. I remember hearing from Toriyama saying that SSJ just bleeds energy faster, in his normal state he can conserve more energy.
Toriyama said that Goku won't go SSJ2 or 3 because it bleeds to much energy
and Jap Goku sounds so bad I forgot all about that.
Problem is, Vegeta never went Saiyan God, Goku didn't either until he had help but he remembered the form so could tap into it, Vegeta never got there, so how?
Well, they both trained with Whis, who was stronger than Beerus, so I imagine some tomfoolery happened to justify him reaching the form too.
Awww shit I actually already know the ending (wish I didn't) and it's mind blowing, really new and unique to DBZ.
I feel like I ruined it for myself.

You'd better not ruin it for us.

As a huge fan of DBZ with Frieza being my favorite character, I would never!
Just know that you're in for a fucking ride.
I hope when Vegeta fights Frieza that they use this song just one last time:
Highly doubt it. DBZ as a whole is doing everything it can to get away from the Faulconer score, since it's considered "unnatural" and not "pure" like the Japanese soundtrack. The best you could hope for is something like Kai.
You can probably find Faulconer versions of the movie at some later point by fans, similar to the people on Youtube that recut Kai with the Faulconer score (most of which have been taken down now, naturally).
It's too bad because as much as Faulconer made some poor decisions for his music (like keying the score to specific scenes, so you get all those weird blurbs in the middle of a song that completely stop the flow) he understood what music is supposed to do for visual media. Unlike the Japanese, Faulconer understood elevating the visuals with music that takes on a character of its own. Most people don't appreciate how elegantly he designed the music to fit each saga when he didn't need to given what it was compared with.
The Frieza Saga is very synth heavy with focus on atmospheric panning, quite obviously going for a "spacey" vibe which, along with the always present underlining tone of dread, fits the evil Galactic Emperor theme.

The score for Cell Saga was very brutal (to coincide with the shift in tone) and songs for Cell specifically have subtle insect like cues throughout them:

The Buu Saga was mystical, chaotical and more akin to a strange horror show at the circus, which sums up Buu:

Comparatively the Japanese score is boring white noise that never changes or grows from the first episode to the last. The only time it had a real shift in tone or growth was also only played one time in the whole series last I watched, when Trunk first fights Frieza. Strangely it's also the only time they created music to coincide with the scene, to an extent:

I'll give Kai one thing though, the writing for the dialog is generally superior.
Personally, as much as I liked the Faulconer music. I perfer Kai's voices. Looking back Linda Young was a pretty bad Frieza, Chris Ayres makes the character feel like a aristocratic alien. How a galactic evil Emperor would be like.
ffs Goku [sp]surpassing god mode? Give Vegeta a fucking break here.[/sp]
Why is Gohan going Super Saiyan anyway? His full power has already been unlocked where he doesn't have to go Super Saiyan anymore, which I thought was the point of 'Mystic/Ultimate Gohan'.
[sp]Guess what happens when you don't train for 6-8 years(during the 10 year gap between death of Buu and and EoZ)? Due to not training at all, even after getting his ass kicked by Beerus, and having Pan, he basically became at best, stronger than start of Buu saga, at worst, weaker than SSJ2. Hell, if the manga and x days left from news(kanzenshuu) is to be believed, he can BARELY go super saiyan. Hell, maybe even base main Z-fighters could overpower him.
In other words, no training for 6-8 years, lost Ultimate power-up, can barely go SSJ(apparently).[/sp]
It's funny that with no training Frieza was as strong as he was, Gohan just keeps getting weaker when just doing the same. Frieza is just a freak of nature.
Which is hilarious because iirc Gohan was supposed to take over as protagonist i think the Saiyan or Frieza sagas.
Which is hilarious because iirc Gohan was supposed to take over as protagonist i think the Saiyan or Frieza sagas.
I guess because Goku was such a hit they didn't want to introduce a kid as the main character.
To be honest, I thought the blue hair was an April Fools joke when I first saw it.
Which is hilarious because iirc Gohan was supposed to take over as protagonist i think the Saiyan or Frieza sagas.
You mean the Cell Saga? Because he literally does take over as protagonist. Second half of the Cell Saga is basically entirely about Goku setting up Gohan as the next protagonist, and fucking off to the afterlife. And then Goku comes back in the Buu Saga because reasons.

maybe they just do the thing again
It's not like they have less saiyans now than they did before.

I was actually about to come in here and correct myself on that, 'cause i'm marathoning the movies and after the Cell Saga and Gohan grows up, the intro is entirely centered around him, so you're definitely right.
Sorry but the faulconer scores are what made DBZ feel so electric, and the original english voices will always be my favourite......Kai does try though. Taking the original Goku SSJ transformation as an example........the music set the tension power and mood of the scene and the redone voices and changed dialog generally suck! in comparison.
Also, i understand the fact that Frieza is a freak of nature and training for four months boosted his power, but Goku was able to fight well enough with Beerus, a God of Destruction when he was at 70% power in just regular God form, and is apparently basically a God+ in this new ROYGBIV form, so how is it even close to possible for Frieza to gain that sheer amount of power to go toe to toe with a deity, two if it's to be believed that Vegeta gets it too?
This movie raises a lot of questions.

the meer fact they brought back frieza and was able to make him stand toe to toe with any of the Z fighters after the Buu saga is just baffling and daft tbh.
In terms of DBZ music (if we're still on that), I actually like the original Japanese score much more than the Bruce Falconer score.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate the Falconer score, as I do think that a few tracks that were composed, such as Imperfect Cell's theme and Vegeta's SSJ theme, are really well done tracks. However, my problems with the score is that:
1) The placement of the score is entirely wall-to-wall (meaning that there is always something playing in the background), and for me, I prefer it when a show has moments when there is silence and only inserts music when it feels it's appropriate (ei: the Japanese score).
&
2) I honestly don't find the more synthesized music of the Falconer score that fitting for DBZ. Like, whenever I think of bgm for DBZ, I usually think of the Japanese score, with its more "oriental-ish" style while giving off an action/adventure feeling to it, and how it sounded much more cinematic and high-quality compared to any of the music from the U.S. score.
Again, I don't hate the Bruce Falconer score at all. It's just that I honestly prefer the Japanese score overall than the U.S. score.

Its within the lore of the manga that Frieza would be able to get incredibly strong with training, but 4 months is just insane. Just imagine if he went into the Hyberbolic Time Chamber.
The unusual part is how the hell did he have ki mastery when he had no training at all? The Z fighters needed to go to Korins lookout to learn it, yet Frieza was able to suppress his powerlevel and blow up planets with ki.

I loved DBZ during the toonami days, probably just as much as you but let's not kid ourselves. Kai's script and voice work is superior in every way. Frieza's original english voice sounded homoerotic "whatever turns you on big guy" "ride em cowboy" and smoking granny voice.
Frieza for once sounds sadistic, yet calm with sophistication. That's how he should sound.
I kinda wish they made the Beerus Saga and Freiza Revival into their own series.
Beerus is quite a cool character, and him being in the full series would have been awesome.
Why does Goku sound like a five year old?
Why does Goku sound like a five year old?
Because in Japan they had a women voice him as a kid and never changed VA's
