oh man my little adventure into gaming journalism
man that's bad, funny because today i was actually thinking of getting into journalism for seriousness
fakepunch?
blogpunch, flameounch, there were a few others
[editline]24th February 2013[/editline]
p sure there was a MyPunch or PunchSpace too. something along those lines
So I checked back on my Neopets.
It was banned. Ah well, too bad I guess. Still sent in a ticket though just to ask for the reason.
I used to be a god of the Armorgames forums. It's not a place I like to go to anymore, simply because I realize now how childish I was.

it was like an archived Facepunch, it looked like an older version and there were old posts and I saw like 3 people on it. It was actually Facepunch, except like its long lost autistic brother
MY first experience on an internet community was Habbo. My brother and I didn't know shit about english back then in 2005 (I was 12-13 and just had started on my english course) so we played in the spanish version of Habbo. From there, I moved into Youtube and up until I was 15 I used to be really involved in it. I posted a ton of videos I created home alone and with my friends (I deleted most of them because they were really embarrasing). I also did a lot of horrible as fuck Flash animations:

what the fuck was I thinking? what does masturbation, Colgate and south american presidents had to do with each other?

[sp]In retrospect, applying colgate to your balls wouldn't be a very smart idea...[/sp]
I also hung around on Myspace for a bit because all my friends were into it and I usually added these really stupid premade themes with these really emo-esque stuff (Yeah, I was huge on the emo shit trend between my 13-14s). I learned HTML with that though so I'm happy about it. Then I also started going into www.frikipedia.es which is like a spanish version of ED, then 4chan and now finally, into my first BB-style forum ever, Facepunch. I've had a pretty good time on the internet...
Oh god, I cringe thinking of how RANDUM XD XD I was back in the day.
Anyone remember a forum called iridethelines? its long since extinct, but that place was amazing back in linerider's prime. It was my first devoted forum, learned about photoshop sig skills on there, I felt so fly

I've still got 5-10 reviews up on Gamefaqs.
Felt fucking boss when they got approved.
I started out going on Gamespot and go into the Gaming Unions they had. It was pretty fun and I still read my old "blog" there. Too bad all the comments got deleted but the old posts are just a nightmare to read. Met some good people though.
Anyone remember that turn based text game where you would fight against other player's army? The website had an olive green background.
Does anyone remember BattleOn/Adventure Quest? It was crazy popular in my school, there'd always be a long line at the computers in the library. You could only use it for five minutes then you had to switch with the next person.

I remember a kid in my school actually bought the Guardian status ($20), everyone was really jealous of him.
Those were the days...
Though SomethingAwful (1999) seems to be an exception to this idea. I think SA will still be going strong in 10 years. Maybe because Facepunch is so similar to SA it'll also have lasting appeal.
MSN is pretty much internet ruins now
Its closing down and all the dumb chats and retarded shit that went on there is all being sent to the internet graveyard now.
RIP
boards.fightingamphibians.org
This site was started by a group of /v/ users as a place to discuss TF2 and Audiosurf. A few changes in ownership, a site hack, and the large amounts of ironic shitposting eventually made everyone leave. Now only one board on it is open, its just people reminiscing or shitposting, they locked the other boards due to all the ad bots posting shit. I used to lurk there, made some friends, laughed a bit, shame it's gone.

Used to use this site all the time as a kid for cheats and walkthoughs. It's aged a ton.
gscentral.org
Used this site a ton for Gameshark and Action Replay codes, seems dead now
I used to frequent a forums back in 2006 that started in '04 as an animation portal for Pivot animations.
And it's still alive!
Droidz?
garry.tv and his interesting flash animations, in fact where did they go? (CT coming out of the toilet ALL OK)
also Arfenhouse Teh Movie Too.
Droidz?
Darkdemon. Droidz is pretty much on the verge of death.
I've had a GameFAQs account for twelve years this year. I'm 18, 19 this August. I had that account when I was six.
Hell, the account name was "jethro6". I do not to this day understand how I DIDN'T get banned for being under age.
MY first experience on an internet community was Habbo...
They DO have something to do with each other, because you have to masturbate after every food and you masturbated to the presidents?
I wasn't really allowed on the computer back when we had a Windows 95 machine, so I don't know much about the old internet. When we got a new computer in 2004, though, things were different. I played Starcraft, Club Penguin, and Runescape almost nonstop.
It wasn't until 2008 when I found out about forums. My first forum was some Upper Deck baseball card thing or something. Then I made my Facepunch account but never really posted until later. About the same time as my Facepunch account, I made an account on NextGenUpdate, which surprisingly still exists. Here's one of my goldmine posts. The rest are basically just me saying how MAG was going to be "way better than MW2."

At least I used proper capitalization and stuff.

This is the oldest running site I've been a member of. Since 2002. I still post there as often as I can. That is to say, if there's anyone else that's responded to my last post.

From my days of playing soldat. All of the clan members I posted I no longer talk to, and it makes me sad..
2dgames.net, rip in peace.
Anyone?
Did anyone ever play Habbo Hotel? Gotta get that furni
Facepunch was probably my second account I created on the internet, second after hotmail. I've been here since '05/'06 and I love every part of this forum. You guys are fucking incredible.
I started out not being able to spell for shit, and my first many posts were usually ended with "!!!!!!!" for no reason at all.
I got banned around a bit back then. Smartness <3

Remember getting to level 75 in a couple of days or something, buying guardian and then stop playing almost immediately after. Money well spent.
I used to use the internet for walkthroughs too, where all walkthroughs were in a text file with an ascii title
I miss the xfire golden years. My most favourite years of gaming was halo ce on their servers.
