I created a new Battle.net account a few days back, 'cause I figured I might enjoy a bit of WIII. But the whole thing is completely deserted. Like, most of the maps are just "GET CHEAP HOSTING BOT HERE!" and I think I've only gotten into 2 or 3 games over the past couple of games. That's pretty depressing. Last time I played (back in maybe 2009), it was still alive, even if the community was smaller than it had been. Kinda sad to see it go that way, it was incredibly fun back in the day. The only thing that hasn't changed is the fact that people will call you noob the moment you spawn in pretty much.
Arr i hate finding abandoned websites because they are annoying and old
There should be something that deletes these websites

Nostalgia? What's that?
I remember my first forum being a "fansite" for a comic book called Bamse.
The site still exists but their forum doesn't. I just remember being like 5 years old and teasing one of the members there with the "k-i-s-s-i-n-g" rhyme thing.
Memories.

Bamse was the shit, I still have like hundreds of those comics lying around in a box somewhere
I wonder if they're still writing them, would be interesting to see if it's gotten any worse or something by today compared to the older ones
I remember my first forum in 2008, Gmod Nation. It's gone now but I'm sure a lot of my posts were shit. At least a large number of the active members moved onto facepunch so I get a little warm feeling in my heart when I run into them (quacles, mutank, furbrain, and savage messiah, although I haven't seen him since it shut down)
I heard Gollum ( host of Dark RP Gmod Nation) had some heart issues two or so years ago. Hope hes well. GNation was kick ass.

Wow, there was a bamse forum?
Christ were there forums for everything back then? Nowadays all the small forums have died and
been replaced with social networks.
Facepunch was the first site I bothered joining, I don't know how I found it, or why I joined. That was back in August of '08. At some point I got banned (I was a retarded little shit for longer than I'd like to admit), then Facepunch switched and I was unbanned.
Last time I was on that account was November of 2011, but now I can't remember the password or the email I was using. v:v:v
Other than that I only ever went on Newgrounds and Myspace. Occasionally I'll look up my old myspace page and get out the revolver.
Internet ruins are a strange and wondrous place because It's the equivalent of coming across a city in which all the people just suddenly disappeared but everything is still in place. You can get to know people and see them live their lives without needing to even know their names.
nonono
it was like an archived Facepunch, it looked like an older version and there were old posts and I saw like 3 people on it. It was actually Facepunch, except like its long lost autistic brother
you're just thinking about the waybackmachine

remembering vanilla wow seriously hurts me
Anyone else here remember PHWOnline? There was a big tiff and rivalry between Facepunch and them way back in 2008 or so - I remember a lot of good Gmod comics hosted there, now gone. :(
RIP, Jeff & Afro zombie.
PHW was a huge circlejerk forum for gmod posers and comic makers.
if your content didn't live up to their standards you were perma-banned.
even if you explained it was your first ever comic and i put a lot of damn thought into the story dammi
ahem.
fuck phw
Oh my god. Do you guys remember Rathergood.com? "We like the moon" etc.
The NNF. Gosh that was like, my first forum. Where EVERYONE'S USERNAME WAS IN CAPS, postcount e-peen was encouraged with "post rankings", and the boards were basically filled with children. That was ok, because I was one then too. That was perhaps back in '04 or so.
I think that is where this username of mine originated, I could not think of a better one at the time so I just made it up.
It was a really neat place, and I miss it. RIP Nintendo Nsider Forums
remember electric retard? damn i miss that site. i remember those guides or whatever they were doing near the end and i was invited to join the part of the community that worked on them but it wasnt long after that Eric decided to shut down the site.
funny you should mention that, there's a new ER guide up on islam, they're coming back
I mostly lurked around the Block land forums back when it was still a free game. I think in 2004-06.
In fact one of my threads is still semi-alive. http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=4009.0 :v:
Also, remember the days before YouTube. Every video was "do you have a Mac or PC? Do you have 56k or DSL?"
And "buffering....".
what was the game that was similar to minecraft around the time it started getting popular? i remember liking it better than minecraft. but minecraft got more frequent and better updates so i switched sides.

Hello, where'd you run off to orange tinty tiny.
Also, does anyone remember the Garry's Mod challenges? Or "Garry's Challenge". I loved watching those back in the wee days of 9.0.4 and such.

It's basically 3D Legos. I don't know what changed since retail Block land(I sstopped playing by then). But I guess it's similar to mine craft in the sense that you build stuff. But it was purely building with some death match stuff.

My stepmum has a collection of all magazines from the start to about 2009, and she's still collecting. They come in hard-cover books fitting like a year of comics in it per book or so.
And they're still being made, just not by René. He's kinda dead.
I heard Gollum ( host of Dark RP Gmod Nation) had some heart issues two or so years ago. Hope hes well. GNation was kick ass.
I remember that he was having liver issues or something and disappeared right around the time I joined
This made me realize that I've been on this fucking forum for almost 8 years.

I loved this game, but it only has spammers in the forums now and it's creator seems to have vanished.

I have no idea if the service actually still exists, but the site is no different than when I accidentally found it years ago looking up what is now Spike TV, back when I was a huge wrestling fan. I guess big businesses didn't need advice on how to be big businesses.
When digging through a Windows 95 disc recently I found Carpoint. I looked it up, and it is MSN's auto section.
