I remember in the early 2000s. shockwave.com had really cool games, it had rampage on there and lennyquest and oh man i think that's where i found the macromedia shockmachine. Now the website got bought out by nickelodeon but I don't remember when that happened.

nabiscoworld was where i would play my shockwave games too. :v:
It sucks that i can't get shockwave to work anymore though.
anyone remember 3dgroove or whatever. there were some sick games on that platform. had a bunch of product placement games
Like the Eight Legged Freaks browser FPS i played that so much.
Facebook wont exist in 15 years. Think of all those hundreds of unpublished photos and shit that you and your friends and family took that will one day vanish from the face of the earth.
One of my gripes about the internet is that nothing is permanent, everything is privatized and governed by corporations and people with money, and all of your favorite things on here could abruptly disappear tomorrow.

Yeah it will.
Hell. The exact cure for cancer and all deadly ailments in humanity could have been posted in some quiet obscure internet forum that disappeared in 2004.
Now I think about it, I realise I've been a member here for about 6 and a half years. And I've visited basically every day. That's a pretty significant portion of my life.

It was.....
This thread man... the feels.
Time is a cruel fucking mistress.
My first forum was for a game called Vega Strike, which was a space exploration game back in 2006 which was unfinished but was still being updated... I think people are still working on it now. I found my old user, and shit I was retarded.
http://forums.vega-strike.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7312&p=70016#p70016
Comes complete with double posting and lack of comprehension. I had so much fun on that game though, reminds me of a much simpler time. come to think of it I think we were settling down in our new home after my parents split up, mum had just re-married. I had also just found out about Klay World so I watched that religiously, I remember it being so goddamn funny but it's lost it's appeal over time.
Man, this thread made me sad. Wonder how long will Facepunch last, but I've got a hunch it'll be a pretty long time.
well duh the Hot Girl theard will keep it alive for a lomng time
I recently read this SA thread on Microsoft's 3d Movie Maker, which still has an active community, with a good 30 or 20 members.
So let me say that again: A 17 year old nearly impossible to use game for kids still has a following in the year of our lord 2013. Given the nature of the program, doing anything that looks good takes hours. And then you have to use an emulator to even use it. They know how to mod it to import custom models for its primitive graphic engine.
With all that in mind, some of these people have been active for more than a decade, and from time to time still spend hundreds, if not thousands of hours producing movies that range from 20 minutes to feature length. Movies that only a handful of people will ever see. I read that one of the most famous former members got a deal for a Fox show.
One of my favorite examples is this hour long Ghost in the Shell fan movie.

The community is like a tiny island, and I like to think barely any of their members have an account for the bigger landmasses like Reddit. They are happy in their own island, where they have all they need

jesus christ ive been posting on this site for nearly a decade.
This post is a remainder that Neopets was once what every 10 year old played online.
God damn, this thread made me sad, Just came back from the waybackmachine browsing mid 08 phoneburnia.
All the memories.
And i found my old photobucket too

bdcoll was one of the most chill mods you could find, even with my 12/13 year old fuckery
http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo200/noobtrap3000/untitled.jpg
I remember, pirated XP, AVG fucktons of stuff and safari.
I've been on here for 8 fucking years? Jesus christ :v:
Oh man, such nostalgia for things that are today almost completely abandoned or simply not the same anymore, gamespy arcade!
I remember playing C&C Renegade using gamespy arcade, jesus..
This post is a remainder that Neopets was once what every 10 year old played online.
I'd still be playing neopets if they didn't go "hey we can make money off lil kids"
This post is a remainder that Neopets was once what every 10 year old played online.
I remember being so proud that I solved one of Neopets' puzzle events fast enough to get one of the exclusive items.
And then they deleted my account for inactivity. I miss my JubJub :(
I've been on here since September 2005, and on another forum I've been an active member for over a decade (god damn it feels strange to say that)
Edit: And like most people, my early posts were god damn stupid.
That place hurts my eyes.
Well that's enough internet for today.
To be honest, this is my first forum. God, if this place died, I don't know what I'd do. The only memories I have are really of Runescape.
Danm, now that I think about it, one of my favorite games from a small website called Candystand was removed. The only video about this specific game is down here.

the first forum i ever posted in has long since slipped from my memory
if anyone remembers a forum where it featured a comic with characters drawn similar to cyanide and happiness and some guy made a popular thread showcasing a nintendo ds dock constructed of legos, that's the one i'm thinking of
i was also banned because too many people complained about me lol
The falling sand game forums from when I was like 12. I visited a few months ago and it felt like nostalgia was being injected into my eyeballs.
I used to go on a website, wegame.com. A place where Oxhorn resided and actual machinima grew into a livelihood, where people chatted and enjoyed themselves all around basing videos.
Now, I come back to it and see that they got bought out by tagged.com, itself left in a decrepit ruin and spambots everywhere.
Rip.
A couple years ago I was in some GMod community called Darkland. I was twelve and looking back, not surprised they hated me. A couple days ago a friend from there invited me to try out his gamemode. They talked about memories from there and it turns out it died.
When I left I went to a CS:S and TF2 commnuity that split from a dying community, which died after a couple years. Now I frequent the other side of that split which is thriving.
I remember playing this old Dora 3-D game when I was little

and it looked like an N64 game that ran at 800x600
you can play it here still: http://www.shockwave.com/gamelanding/doras-3d-pyramid-adventure.jsp
Holy shit I was able to guess my old runescape password

hahahahahah
I'm glad shockwave.com still keeps their old games on their site. Their game library goes back to 2003.
I used to post stupid things on the Lego forums way way back, god I was dumb.
oh jeez, first forum I ever joined was some pixel art/sprite ripping forum called Pixeltendo back in like ~2004. Pretty sure it still exists in some iteration but it's totally not the same place anymore.
I remember using wayback machine to try and find some of my old, old posts but it wasn't a very fruitful search
I used to be a regular at Pixeltendo too. First forum I really used to go to was called DS-Play but it's dead now.
