I found some robot wars fan forums from around 2004-5

There are plenty of other deserted robotics oriented forums out there IIRC but I am having a hell of a time finding them (and not in the good way.)
dead websites are depressing
The fantasy robot rumble page has scrolling news that just says "go away". Kinda creepy.
Man, I remember playing Neopets every day. If I had the cunning and know how that I do now, I would've been one of those cool guys that had billions of money and everyone knew.
I can't find my old account(s), but I remember some girl I talked to almost every day scammed me by having me buy her a paintbrush. The rage is still there.

And I found it, but apparently someone gained access to it and I was banned.
I would've loved to see the stuff I had, 9 years ago.

Neopets was a ruthless place. People did anything to get ahead.

i'm sure some of you guys remember this. not really an abandoned place on the internet, but it has been around for a loooooong damn time.
I remember my first posts on Facepunch were requests for video game models in Gmod. I hadn't realized how requests went so unnoticed here. I bumped by own thread and got banned.

My earliest forum posts originate on Newgrounds. The center of the internet for me in my early years
Virtual Magic Kingdom, how i miss you
and all those collared shirt-wearing, spiky haired assholes
I swear i came up with it first
My first forum post was here.
I forgot my last accounts password and the email isn't even able to be accessed anymore. It was from 2007.
So after like 5 years of lurking, I finally decided to re-make an account. I learned alot from that too, Facepunch actually made me act better and alot more sophisticated.
Learning what's dumb and what's not.
I love you guys.

I thought of this as I was about to fall asleep last night. I'm glad I remembered it today.
when I see how dead General discussions have become; it kind of feels like it is going into the ruins... This forum used to be popping..

God, it's eerie going to dead forums, especially when you can see that the death wasn't sudden. The creepy thing is you can see that the users know it as well, although they handle the realization differently; some see the writing on the wall and simply abandon ship while mourning the loss, while others go on purposefully ignoring what's happening to a place they once saw as a warm little community. Then there are others that cry out about what's happening to the site; they ask for people to post more, invite friends, one forum I remember visiting a while ago had a guy that was constantly making new threads, hoping the amount of things to comment on would spur more posting. In the end, these forums might go on for a few more pitiful months before expiring. But even at death, the forums aren't always forgotten.
Sometimes you aren't alone.
Once in a while you'll come across a supposedly dead forum, but notice that you need to sign up to see all the content, so you'll make up a throwaway E-Mail and get to work; imagine your surprise when you see someone besides yourself in the "Online Users" header. Most of the time it's just a bit creepy to find this, considering your arrival sometimes makes them get a spark of hope that life is returning to the forum, but sometimes it's more than just creepy. Dead forums are favored rendezvous sites for pedophiles exchanging videos/images, and because of this there's a chance you'll run either into a honeypot (in which case your IP is flagged) or you simply encounter people you really would never want to encounter.
I had never heard that before, I just assumed they all used TOR or something.
Yeah...
Guys, I just had a thought. The same fate will no doubt befall FP at some point. How long until that time?
no telling. I was a member of a forum a while back. it had the highest number of members online and over 10,000 posts per day back in 2007-ish, by the end of 2011 it was a complete ghost town. today it might get one new post a month made by some old member who's just coming back after a 6 or 7 year hiatus, blissfully unaware of how dead the forum is. considering that FP had it's highest members online count in 2011, it might be just around the corner.

if you're trying to refer to me, I joined in 07 but have followed the site since 2006, ever since I first found out and looked into the mayan calendar and 2012 was the end of the world. Being an 05'er or 06'er in '08 established the status and authority of the user, and the oify was a different story and was accessed to anybody.. Every thread was live, and the way the forum used to look was completely different; we didn't have ratings, we had a rating based on smartness, and I'm pretty sure before that smartness was not around. Hezzy used to be on, the front page forum layout was different and everything was clustered but involved.. Man this forum used to be so different. I never posted, until recently, but I followed on this site daily through out the years, and had a bad addiction of being on the site. It was the late night go-to, the golden days of facepunch. So long to those days.. I tried to wait the five years to upgrade to gold.. but it never happened..

I remember people disliking the new 2010 and 2011 users, now we have been here for years. (I actually had a much older account though)

Join date elitism was quashed pretty heavily back then, because it was stupid anyways since a number of the new join dates were also holders of 05 and 06 accounts.
I remember when join date elithism was rife in 2009.
Pepper;39739063']I remember when join date elithism was rife in 2009.
it was rife until 2011 when they realized '11ers sounded absolutely ridiculous
Gaia Online was my first major forum (it was surprisingly popular at my middle school). I really don't want to look back.
Does anyone remember gmodcentral.com and theshadys.co.uk?
Both are Gmod communities and not that old, but I sure as hell miss both of them.
Also remember :smith:?

My personal favorite was :wtc:
I still remember the giant ass emoticon list we had back around 2010.
Took a while to find but I found it, seems really relevant to the topic.
PICTURES AND SHIT GO HERE
Oh god, all my feels.
I wasn't ready for them.

Whenever I want an old emote, I just rip it from SA's smiley page.

There was a website called Bardocks Revenge, I think that was it. It died really quick from what I remember but it was pretty fun.
My first forum was for a BF1942 clan back in February 2005... it's long gone now. :(
My first forum was RuneHQ, back around 2006. Good times. Met some of my best friends there. It's not dead, but it might as well be, all the good users are long gone. Brings back memories just thinking about all those hours I wasted in their IRC, and yeah, good times.
Also, Neopets, which reminded me to go check my account out. It's still there, with 10 years worth of being around. Then I saw those little make your own adventures I made. God damn, they were awful.
