I don't know, Adventure Time tickles my nostalgic cartoon wonder more than prancing and singing ponies.
All of these cartoons have adult related messages in them. The kids don't see it but we do.
Aren't the jokes in MLP just one of those "Adult jokes so parent's don't kill themselves watching it" jokes? I don't think Adventure Time and Regular Show use adult jokes in that manner.

Bronies existed since the first episode of the series aired, every kids show/cartoon had adult jokes in them since ever. Spongebob Squarepants had some too.
I gotta say that's a bit different though. If the internet and it's use of communication (Twitter, large messaging boards, 4chan, Reddit, Facebook, etc) was more mature in the late 90's to early 2000's I'll bet you the fanbase for Spongebob and PowerPuff Girls would have been just a bit more asinine and outlandish like those that make the Brony fandom today, or at least the larger number of them that you see on DeviantArt *shudder*. You could argue that it's a ridiculous claim for me to say because oh, the PowerPuff Girls aren't ponies but hey Spongebob is a talking sponge, and I can't think of any shows other than Friendship is Magic, Adventure Time, Regular Show and Doctor Who that's sparked such a large percentage of a generation to create such intense cultures. Notice that these are shows spawned during the height of the communication era (with exception to Doctor Who it's always been popular just a little more-so with David Tennant). Hell ever since that whole Doctor Whooves thing started it seems like everywhere I go the two fandoms go hand-in-hand for some reason. I'll admit that I have enjoyed FiM in the past and I still do to a extent. I've seen every episode from Season 1 Episode 1 all the way to the one from yesterday because it's something I can watch with my little sister, it was made by many of the brilliant individuals that engineered PowerPuff Girls so it reminds me of my childhood, it is after all impressive animation work with like I said before experienced individuals working on it, and I have met some generally normal and awesome people out of the fandom that turned out to be long-term friends. When I first watched it I thought it was the best shit in town and I almost couldn't get enough of it, but that dropped dead soon after because just like my ex it started to smell like fish the deeper I got. I can't say I hate the fandom because every fandom has crazy neckbeards and people driven with obsession, but FiM and many other fandoms alike also have a rather nice selection of talented artists, musicians, authors and philosophers each of their own. However I can't say I care for it largely either despite having a nice half and half selection. It's something so ludicrous to me for people to act like total martyrs over the show if you disagree. I can't get by with "oh well I think it's cool but I'm not a die-hard Brony like I used to be" without receiving backlash from the majority of the Bronies that happen by. I have only just vague hope that whenever I meet a new Brony on the internet that they're a nice person and mean well and don't link me to Rule 34
Brony orgies? Wait, what
I can't get by with "oh well I think it's cool but I'm not a die-hard Brony like I used to be" without receiving backlash from the majority of the Bronies that happen by. I have only just vague hope that whenever I meet a new Brony on the internet that they're a nice person and mean well and don't link me to Rule 34
The bronies that aren't die hard are usually the ones who don't really care for the discussion, and thus feel no need to defend the fandom. I think I'm quite like you about liking the show. I watch the show, loved yesterday's episode. Besides watching the show, I read things from EQD. I haven't got any purchased merchandise, and I don't feel the need to get any. I've never gotten shit from other bronies that I'm not enough of a fan, or that I'm not a "real" brony. I've never seen it happen either. But then again, I'm not enough of a fan to go further than EQD. I've got friends in university who walk around with shirts and derpy bags, which is fine by me, but I wouldn't want it. The same goes for rule 34. It's fine with me if people like it, but I have no interest in it.
This one was fairly tame compared to Joe's other videos.
I'm pretty sure I saw a brony at a mall recently, she was wearing a MLP shirt of some sort. Also I think we all watched an episode or something that wasn't intended for us on TV one time or another. I've watched Powerpuff girls, like a lot since the art style was just like Dexter. I've even watched MLP when I was a kid. It was a movie and I paid attention...
uhoh wearing a tshirt in self expression. what an asshole!
Wearing a t-shirt as a cry for attention I think you mean.
Wearing a t-shirt as a cry for attention I think you mean.
HEY GUYS IM WEARING A TSHIRT THAT HAS BLACK LETTERS ON IT THAT SAYS "BRONY" I'M WEARING THIS SHIRT TO SHOW THAT I HAVE AN INTEREST IN MY LITTLE PONY BUT SINCE IT HAS 5 LETTERS ON IT AND A PONY VECTOR, APPARENTLY I'M CRYING OUT FOR FUCKING ATTENTION It's not like people wear shirts from other TV shows, Video Games, Movies etc etc They do it because they want to show that they are a fan of that particular thing It's not like they are pointing at their fucking shirt everywhere they go and scream at the top of their lungs that they like something
