Ripping my fucking hair out over all these fucking black boxes
That box was pretty big. Whatever was shown must've been pretty bad. [editline]31st May 2017[/editline] This is actually a pretty effective way to make me really want to see the next video :v:
what was the list of things we were expecting to be censored again

It reads almost like a riddle.
Everytime a new video comes out I get excited for some big reveal and of course end up getting blue balled by the censors.
I'm heavily running with the idea that they're real-life images... but we're still talking about PS1 textures, canonically. There'd be no way to make them legible. It would make more sense to show a super personal message or something? Or maybe they're something like addresses.
PS1 can render images like that, just very low res, but high enough to be able to tell what it is I believe. [editline]31st May 2017[/editline] I'm pretty antsy about the censors too, but it only serves to keep making me rack my brain about what the hell could be bad enough to be censored. I mean, if it were just like 3d renderings of morbid stuff it'd be sorta screwed up, but not really bad enough to censor. It makes me think that whatever is being censored has to be pretty damn fucked up, so much so that he doesn't want us to see it at this juncture.
really not feeling the censors at the moment. i dont understand what it adds to the experience.

worth noting that this is probably the "something on a wall", so next is "written on a chalkboard" expect the school soon edit: also im fully expecting whats behind the censors to be revealed near the end will be interesting to know who is doing it and why
really not feeling the censors at the moment. i dont understand what it adds to the experience.
I think it adds to the presentation. Like, instead of being told similarly to a horror movie or something, it's supposed to be in a let's play-ish format. It makes it feel more like some kid actually found this game at a yard sale or whatever and is recording it and uploading it to youtube, and he's freaking out over the shit that's getting censored.
I dig the censors too. It'd be too easy and unsuspenseful to just let us see everything. It's also more realistic this way. Like KingOfScience said, if some kid found something like this, he'd be just as freaked as anyone else about what he finds on it if it's anything that's bad enough to be censored on Youtube.
I know a lot of people (including myself a few weeks ago) are thinking that the censors are Paul not being able to think of what to do, but after seeing the payoff for the puzzles in the very first video (three months later) I have faith that he knows what he's doing and planned it all out. I think there's too much planning for him to write himself into a corner like that.

I would expect the censors of are pictures that, presumably, would be too personal or graphic to show on youtube, like one of the pictures is of one of the children the characters represent, or maybe one showing the act of child abuse.
Really wish he talked more the last few episodes. This feel less of a kid-discovering-game-LPing-it and more of just a presentation for the sake of it with pretty much 100% silence the last video as well. gimme back my 'Okay so.. I dunno what's going on here's and 'what the fuck?'s

Right now I think the censorship is interesting, but I think it'll ultimately depend on what is really behind the censors. It could be lame or it could be really good. This next part is really optimistic but it would be so neat if the guy made this playable and we could recreate stuff in the video. I really doubt it because I personally think he sets up the scenes and so there's not any actual "triggers" or "gameplay", but it would be cool as shit to explore it and have the same things occur, or even better...new things that didn't happen to Paul. Like he said, the game seems to not care if you don't see everything that happens so that would be interesting.
I want to believe lack of commentary is tied up to Paul going insane/paranoid but he's good at hiding it at the moment.
I want to believe lack of commentary is tied up to Paul going insane/paranoid but he's good at hiding it at the moment.
It seems like he's trying out things, then coming back to do them again, and just not reacting because he's already seen them. I don't think anything big has happened to him yet.
If anything, the videos that lack commentary indicate when the 'other' person is playing, the one he mentions with 'we' and is on the phone with in the one of the videos. I was gonna say the mic might be off but you can hear the button taps.

He's gone from playfully recording footage of him playing a weird game, to near-complete silence while recording a game that is seriously fucked up. The odd noise here and there that let's you know someone is in fact playing the game, as well as the odd comment he makes here and there such as in the video with the present, help to keep it grounded. The only thing I've been disappointing by is the rather short length of some of the videos, especially since we have to wait about a week between each.
Anyone else think this is all just an ARG/marketing for some guys' indie game/dev tools?
Anyone else think this is all just an ARG/marketing for some guys' indie game/dev tools?
I'm actually not sure if I would be mad, because if it helped make your stuff look like this, that would legitimately be pretty cool. :pudge:
It wouldn't happen but it would be cool if he stopped uploading videos after some weird event, and then a single ROM is uploaded for the community to go through themselves.
Anyone else think this is all just an ARG/marketing for some guys' indie game/dev tools?
I'm hinging on this, or it goes down a road trip on Shit Street and turns into "it was haunted all along and KILLED ME/THE KIDS!"
I'm hinging on this, or it goes down a road trip on Shit Street and turns into "it was haunted all along and KILLED ME/THE KIDS!"
My PlayStation is bleeding but the blood looks almost hyper-realistic
I binged all the videos when I found out about this a week or two ago. Love stuff like this, real or not, the whole thing is a work of art. Is there anything similar to this out there besides the Majora's Mask story?

I mean I know that people like the idea that he's just getting way too into the game and possibly losing his mind, but the transition didn't really feel gradual enough to me for that. His commentary basically just dropped off between videos.
I binged all the videos when I found out about this a week or two ago. It's not nearly as subtle as Petscop but goes to some really weird places that I appreciate. Not everyone likes it but it is very imaginative and has some good sprite work. But the closest thing to Petscop I can think of is jvk1166z.esp; which is a Morrowind creepypasta. It's pretty convincing like Petscop, though still not actually possible for a Morrowind mod, and doesn't have too overt supernatural elements. Really has the puzzle solving aspect of Petscop too.
I just hope it doesn't go full "Holy shit the game is haunteeeeeed" like every creepypasta.
Yeah that's my biggest fear. I like that it could be haunted, but that it could also have been made like this deliberately. Really the free the children's ghooooooosts is the most obvious place for this to go, it's what 50% of creepypasta already is, and it would be such a lame cop-out to what is otherwise a very original series.
