The more I watch this video, the more I want to really go back into programming instead of procrastinating like fuck right now. I've lost my exceeding interest in programming that I had two years ago. I don't know what happened to it, stress? Other subjects that are really pushing into my time and efforts? My lower than expected marks? Did I lose interest and went into photography/digital art instead? I dunno but this video kicks me back to that exceeding interest. Great video.
My only coding experience is in game maker, meh
I only coded in applescript back then lmao

Exactly the same here, but with animation instead of programming. for some reason I don't animate as much as I used to do (hell I don't even remember the last time I did something). I think the reason is videogames.
This kid is not a savant or a genius, he is just a geek.
From what I saw, his apps are pretty simple and the question he asked near the end was so fucking stupid, I can't even comprehend.
Just your ordinary geek who is only interested one and only one subject.

Shit, I'm kinda there too. I wanted to animate some sort of video but ended up not doing it due to "more important school stuff". If I could just ignore everything and just code then I would've learned it all by now...
Like a wise man once said... 3:22
i really dont understand why this kid is getting so much praise for such little programming skill

essentially this

He should learn to use proper programming flow charts but this isn't too bad.
This is quite amazing, I wish I were able to do that. Does it state whether he has autism or not? Sometimes disorders play a role in superior intelligence like that. Not going to make an assumption though, this kid could just be really dedicated and smart.

Ooh ooh, I think the last thing I've done was an animation about facepunch in flash, dunno why I stopped working on it.

[quote]14-yr-old Prodigy Programmer [b]Dreams In Code[/b][/quote]
That's like how when I'm having trouble sleeping, I dream about bad and ugly code that doesn't work.
Is he seriously wearing toe shoes?
come back to me when he's manipulating large queries in small amounts of execution time from scaled and redundant databases or predicting the outcome some sort of complex system from a sample of information he data mined
[editline]3rd January 2013[/editline]
this is the type of stuff actual programmers from facepunch have done, so what, should us facepunch spergburgers get our own tv slot or something
Wow, he can code at 14 and whenever i try to think of how coding works my mind just breaks down.

Stuff programmers from FacePunch have been working on

The solution in sleep thing happened to me a couple times kind of.
I'll give up on frustrating code and then wake up in the middle of the night and go AHA GOT YOU NOW MOTHERFUCKERRRR

No offense, but you sound pretty hostile towards this and it's totally unecessary. Regardless of what he can and cannot do, his skill level for his age is outstanding and it should be appreciated anyway.
When I was big into programming, I'd go to sleep troubled with my program and wake up knowing exactly where I went wrong and how to fix it. I'd be so excited to do it too haha.
Now I've been losing interest in just about anything, so I don't even program anymore.

I was most into coding through the ages 12-19, it only takes a logical mind to comprehend. I wouldn't bash this kid, but I wouldn't praise him either. I guess just a "keep up the good work" shall suffice.

I kinda do that but for photos (photoshopping) and ideas for short films and what not.
He's 14 and studying at university levels and a freaking research assistant?
You know, I think he's a bit more than just a "geek that's only interested in one subject". Because CompSci at Uni != only programming.

Ordinary geeks are people reading adult books and being able to comprehend an adult conversation at elementary school age, while being in college at 14 and having their own income from apps, even if they are basic, that they have made entirely themselves, where most other people wouldn't even be able to begin to understand how to do it.
Yeah, that sounds right.
That professors eyes freak me the fuck out.
im glad he is programming and all of that but.. i mean i started programming about at the age of 13 or well mainly focusing in game developentment but decided to learn programming mostly.. im just 15 and im alredy managing a team working in Survivor forgotten world
and you dont see me going arround being called " programming prodigy-god"
its nice he is learning programming and that but i think it goes a bit extreme when they start callim him a prodigy
The programming in it self isn't that impressive, but what's impressive is that he's taking a computer science course at a university (plus he's a research assistant). I'm not sure about you guys, but I sure as hell wasn't in college when I was 14.

Yeah, I'm on my second year CompSci & Eng, I can barely do what the kid is doing. And remember that he has to take all the other courses as well.
Well and here I thought I was pretty badass because I know BBCode.
And sometimes I have weird dreams around my major. Theyre nothing concrete, but I usually want them to go away
oh i see well in that case the kid has a damm nice future ahead

no offense but you seem misguided, and your post is totally unnecessary
why should i appreciate some child making checkers apps on the app store
