Cousin - 2-3 Tours in Iraq/Afghanistan
Maternal Grandfather - I actually have his paperwork so I'll just list things from the fields there..
Military Occupational Specialty and No. : Flight Maintenance Gunner
Military Qualification and Date: Air Crew Member '44
Battles and Campagins: Anti-Submarine

Paternal Grandfather - Artillery Forward Observor in the Korean War. He served mostly following the Chinese invasion, and I actually have a really interesting letter he wrote his parents somewhere around here...
Great Uncle 1&2 - Air Force Mechanics
Great Uncle 3 Combat Engineer that landed on Omaha on June 6th. I don't know terribly much about him except that he was with the New York National Guard. From the handy down stories my Grandmother tells on occasion I'm led to assume it was infact on the sixth when he landed. The content of those stories basically being: "***** and the other boys had to go over the side of the landing craft, but it turned out the water was still very deep. ****** was a very good swimmer, but alot of the other boys didn't make it."
Great Uncle 4 - Supply Sergeant in the Pacific. As I recall he lost a leg to disease.
Paternal Great Grandfather - Artillery Officer in the first world war.
My grandpa was a medic in the Pacific in World War II. Guadalcanal, I believe. I think his experiences there led to his eventual suicide. He saw his best friend die there. I've actually got some stuff he took from a dead Japanese man's body.
My grandfather on my father's side was in Vietnam and was hit by mortar shrapnel. Now his back and knee are messed up. My grandfather on my mother's side was stationed in Alaska during the Cold War.
I know more of my family history has served in several different wars, but currently I am working to find out who, when, and where.
Great uncle World War 2.... I never met him but apparently he died pretty fast :saddowns:
My great grandfather was in WW1, I'm pretty sure he got hit by a torpedo off the coast of Madagascar.
My grandfather was in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot for many years.
My dad was an officed in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.
My aunt is an officer in the Canadian army
Both my Grandpa and Grandma served in the Navy in World War 2.
My sister came back from a tour in Iraq 3 months ago

My dad was nearly drafted to the marines, so he signed up for the army, they said they had too many people or something, then he went to the air force.
AND ENJOYED A LONG LIFE UP TO 70 YEARS AND STILL COUNTING
My grandfather commanded a gun turret on the USS California in WW2 and my dad was a spy in the Cold War but that's it afaik
my father was a green beret special forces, he was a lieutenant colonel and fought the communists in el salvador. he was the team captain, medic, and sniper and exchanged a lot of gunfire with the enemy combatants.
..but maybe that's just the alcohol and oxycodone talking for him.
One of my grandfathers was in the Korean war and the other was in World War 2. Both are dead but not from war.
I think my grandpa and great uncle on my fathers side fought for the Italians during WWII.
My Grandfather was a drill sergeant in the Korean War.
And one of my Uncles saved some Prisoners Of War in World War II.
Great uncle was killed in Italy or Sicily in WWII. He was 19 I believe.
Grandfather was a tailgunner in the Pacific in WWII.
Uncle was drafted to the army and served in Vietnam.
Mother's cousin was a Lieutenant Colonel in the army. I'm not sure what wars he was in but it's probably safe to assume he was in at least one since his career was over 20 years I believe.
Uncle was in the navy but never saw combat.
Brother is a Second Lieutenant in the army but hasn't seen combat. Hopefully they don't send him to Afghanistan.
I'm joining the army in a few years.
My Grandpa's brother (My mother's father is grandpa, right?) was Finnish so he fought the Communists back in WWII.
Might be a lot more but i haven't heard anything from my parents. Might ask later today.
I have 3 cousins that served early in the Iraqi war.

My paternal grandfather was an officer in the Chinese KMT National Revolutionary Army. He joined sometime during when Nazi Germany was training up the Nationalist Army in the early 1930s and fought against the Japanese that invaded in 1937 as a company or battalion commander.
Luckily he escaped from the civil war that happened after the Japanese were defeated and the British took him in along with my grandmother.
My maternal great grandfather was some sort of artilleryman in the Qing Empire Beiyang Army during the First Sino-Japanese War.
My great uncle - Spanish American War - Survived unscathed
My Great Grandfather - WWI - Wounded by shrapnel from a grenade
Another Great Uncle - WWI - Wounded by a artillery shell, lost his right leg.
My Cousin - WWII - Killed on Okinawa
Another Cousin - WWII - Wounded on Utah beach, was hit by 3 rounds from a MG42 and was then hit by an artillery shell, survived completely intact but was no longer fit to serve.
Grandfather - WWII - Served on the USS Hoel, a destroyer. The ship was sunk but he survived and was picked up by a nearby ship. Served again in Korea, survived unscathed.
Uncle - Vietnam - Wounded by a bullet in 65' if I remember right, but he went back into the fighting and left in 67'.
Uncle - Vietnam - Actually survived unscathed minus burn scars on his left arm from a WP smoke grenade.

My dad was in the Navy for a LOOOONG time, he was in the Gulf War and Vietnam War.

Grandpa was in vietnam (air force)
.
My grandfather was a tank operator in the 6 Day War for the IDF, and participated in taking the West Bank of the Jordan River I believe.
Well my Papa serverd as the mobile artillary in WWII. He drove a mobile Howitzer. One of the stories was when he was Normandy the Alt for driving got hit and he had to drive for a straight 24 hours, no breaks. Another one was that he shot a German officer. Don't ask me when he did it or how but he did. On the body was a Lugar. Now they had Lugars in WWI but the German military was told to disassemble all of them after they lost the war. Now what makes this special is that this Lugar was never disassembled, all origanal parts while others have diffrent parts from diffrent Lugars. So this is really a one of the kind Lugar right here. I took it to a gun smith and he said that it was well worth over 4,000 dollars right now (it is missing a part for the spring and can't fire.) but I will never sell it. I also heard that he was apart of the Battle of the Buldge and thats where I belive where he got the Purple Heart. A peice of shrapnel got him in the leg. He served the rest of the war going unscratched and settled in Jonsboro Ga. He died in 08'
My Grandpa serverd on a aircraft carrier traveling all over the world. From Japan to The states. His job was to fix plans manage them tune them etc etc. Well he served during 50' to 68'. He was a petty Master Cheif the highest rank you can go in the Navy without going to a military school. From what I heard he was supposed to head to D.C. and become a top generals right hand man but he deneid the request and settled in Albany GA.
My grandmother has a war medal that belonged to her father. I don't really know in what war he was but I think he was fighting with the russians during ww2 or the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) because they lived in Romania. Dam I wish I could know more about him
