lol, right
[editline]18th May 2011[/editline]
watch Bob gatzen's tuning videos, they're pretty helpful. except the bassdrum part IMO he muffles too much.

i usually recommend not muffling at all unless you're going into a studio

The book itself which is called "Ginger Baker: Hellraiser: The Autobiography of the World's Greatest Drummer". Read the reviews. It's funny, since you're the Ginger fan here. Why haven't you read his book?

you posted they were dull and boring because of how they were tuned, making me think they were dead
Me and my friend are just messing around and writing a drum corps show. I did the percussion.

Dude, he's obviously criticizing a song that was recorded by Cream where he was a drummer. What's bad in it?

Well, according to reviews Ginger had kinda hard life and stuff, but I didn't see any offensive criticizing directed to other musicians from him.
Hard, because he was addicted to smack. I'm not critisizing his drumming, but how he acts towards other musicians. Especially the stint between him and Jack Bruce.

oh i remember those, the drums were dead as fuck.
i don't know about you but thats not even close to greb, like not even the least bit.
i mean, come on cottton balls? just learn to tune instead.
Hard, because he was addicted to smack. I'm not critisizing his drumming, but how he acts towards other musicians. Especially the stint between him and Jack Bruce.
Well, the fact that Jack Bruce turned his amplifiers too loud wouldn't left any co-worker musician calm. Too loud bass interferes conversations of other instruments with eachother.
The drugs. Who didn't take drugs in 60's?

they sounded almost completely like that. i am only in the same room when i play them
somehow i really doubt that, especially because of the cotton balls being in the drum, while greb you know... tuned them?
you guys said sound engineers specifically try to capture that sound since it sounds pretty good in a recording. i was trying to skip the "sound engineer" part of that and go right to the final result
yeah, if putting cotton balls in there was the way to do that i think greb would do that.
don't delude yourself in thinking your drums sound the same, please.
if i practice my chops for 45 mins a day, and i want to improve about 100 bpm, how long should that take?
probably like 2 or 3 months right?
i want to be comfortable at 380 as opposed to my measly 280

I highly doubt you can play at 280. In my high school there are only 2 people who can play our warm up at 250. And even than its not that clean. One of them is our center snare who nearly made Cadets and ended up going to Open Class DCI for the Raiders. One of the fastest death metal drummers admits that no one can play blast beats at 260 yet.
Started to practice double bass with 16-th doubles like in these songs

Second track is somehow easier. First makes your legs move very nicely and alternately.

Matt is so damned groovy.
He's pretty good, although I like the Orbinator more.
Sounds like random bashing to me
Sounds like random bashing to me
Well, then you're not listening. He talks about grooving and playing over different time sigs. Really hard to groove when the time sigs get difficult.
Why he fills everything with random bashing on random cymbals? Sounds like crap to me.

Says the guy who thinks Ginger Baker is the worlds greatest drummer and don't see anything wrong with him talking crap about anything and anyone. Come back when you actually know what you're talking about.
He's pretty good, although I like the Orbinator more.
Orbo is insanely precise, but Matt just has this "feel".

okay then how do you measure the BPM of singles
how many times do you hit the drum in one minute if its a 250 single stroke roll?
If you measure in sixteenth notes the worlds fastest drummer can play 1203 notes in 60 seconds. And I believe that is off by a year. That is not the current record. Which is approximately 300 BPM. When you measure the BPM of singles, I'm going to assume you are talking about sixteenth notes. Saying you can play quarter notes at 250 is not impressive at all.
oh, i counted eighths
Hey there. Supreme7 is augmented.
Says the guy who thinks Ginger Baker is the worlds greatest drummer
Did I say I think Ginger Baker is the worlds greatest drummer, not just awesome, but the greatest? You have to prove it then.
doesn't see anything wrong with him talking crap about anything and anyone.
Hm. I didn't know that criticizing my (or my band's) own stuff is actually talking crap about it. Provide the REAL proofs where he talks bullshit about some real characters like Terry Bozzio or some other drummers/musicians etc, not about his own stuff.
I think this is your own dislike to Ginger Baker (as you keep saying "he was on drugs, talking shit about "others", it's bad" hurr durr) or me (as I told my opinion about that drummer Matt, that is also called objective criticism)
Try harder next time, my little norwegian friend.

Haha, objective criticism is "I think he bashing random crap"? Come on, that subjective criticism!
No, I only dislike Ginger for he's lewd behavior. Read his book. Whatever, this discussion is stupid. Let's just talk about drum-corps or something.
okay so after 6 months of disuse of my right leg due to tendon issues, i have decided 2 weeks from now will be my start in point. what are some good exercises to build up tendon strength (without putting too much strain on them) so i dont get reinjured when i start back into extremely light use

Yeah, I thought about that too. We began fighting on the empty place, huh.
