I am raging with envy here.
Only downside is the fucking price :( If I went electric, I'd go with a TD9 kit and probably an extra tom pad and 2 extra cymbal pads, IF the module will allow.
I am raging with envy here.
Your not the only one :( I want your kit !!!!!
Meh I'd still rather have an intermediate level acoustic kit than the best electric kit I could buy. [editline]12:15PM[/editline]
My favorite batter side heads for toms are definitely the new Black emperors. The tone is warm and focused, it makes the toms sound like they are already processed. Reso's love a nice G1. For my snare I like the Aquarian high energy batter with a Hazy300 on snare side.
Never used the black emperors, but I approve of the other heads :clint:. The black emperors are still emperors, so I can't doubt their sound will be amazing.
Basically anything about drums you can post in this thread :D From how to play to full on discussions , post it all here :D I have a few questions before we start aswell. 1. Is there any good drums or drum pieces under 150-200 since im looking to buy some new equipment or maybes get a whole new kit. 2. Do you think books would help me learn or actual drum teacher/lessons ? Books seem boring but have alot of info , but lessons seem more active and easier to learn from. DISCUSS :) - ragawaga
There is no such thing as a kit under 200$ Your new to drumming arnt you heres s set of very nice symbols http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_B8%2045003A%20Alternate%20Cymbal%20Pack%20with%20Free%2010%20Splash%20and%20Bag_-1_10052_10002_-49996454 Sabians are nice so are zildjians. Decent Starter kits would BasiX, Ludwig, YAMAHA, Pearl. I wouldn't go for a custom kit if your new ;)

Can someone help me tune my 2 basses the same I just got 2 SK1's and I can't get a good tone all I get is a dead slappy wet loose sound and then if i tighten it up they sound to tight any info?
Can someone help me tune my 2 basses the same I just got 2 SK1's and I can't get a good tone all I get is a dead slappy wet loose sound and then if i tighten it up they sound to tight any info?
The best thing I've found to to is this; if they are regular tension rods, tighten them with your hands (following the star pattern) until you can't turn them with your hands anymore. Use your key and (following the star pattern) turn them 1/4th of a full turn until you've done all of them. Adjust from there in 1/4th increments until you get the sound you want. If you have old style tension rods (the hand ones) just lightly turn them with 1 finger until they can't turn easily. Repeat for the other side. Once you get the same sound on each side, I usually tune the reso just a little bit looser.
I can tune its just that they seem like the only sound that can come out of them is that dead slappy sound, I think I might just go back to my emads...
I can tune its just that they seem like the only sound that can come out of them is that dead slappy sound, I think I might just go back to my emads...
Maybe you could cut a porthole in the reso? Try taking any muffling you have in the bass drum out as well. Edit: I think I found my next pair of hi-hats. I didn't think I would like them as I thought they would be extremely glassy sounding, but they sound perfect! Sabian AA Metal-X 14" HiHats Be sure to watch in HQ! Would a port hole really fix these problems?

He has alot of different beats/styles. But amazing sound and great playing :v:

If you want a big boom, tune your SK1's to maybe 1/4-3/4 turns past finger-tight, and then try messing with the resonant head for whatever tone you are looking for. If there is a hole/port in the front (resonant) head, then a bit of the boom will be gone, but the sound will travel further, plus the bass drum can be mic'd much easier with a resonant port. I have no experience with the SK1s, but I'm pretty sure the emads are 2-ply, and if that was the sound you liked, the SK2 heads are 2-ply, while the SK1s are 1-ply, if I'm not mistaken.
I have played for about 2.5 years now. I play on my father's kit which is a top of the line (at the time) Ludwig kit from the early 80s. It probably isn't neat top of the line now, but my father spent 5k on it at the time. We have a 18" Sabian Crash (before cymbal lines), 18" Paiste Colorsound Crash, 20" Zildjian A Ping Ride, and 14" Zildjian Avedis Hihats, along with some poopy Sabian B8 splash. We do however have a 1979 Ludwig Supraphonic (I love the sound, but it is a rock sound only, I am looking for something more universal). The sizes on my kit are 12x13, 13x14, 16x18, 16x24, 5x14. Here is a short video of just testing out a video camera from school:
Your Sabian is basically a Zildjian K then. Sabian started out just making K's with their brand name on them because they owned a Zildjian factory that produced them. My kit: Pearl Export 22x18 12x9 14x11 14x5 16x13 not shown. 13" Zildjian K/Z Dynobeat Hats 18" Meinl MB8 Medium Crash 22" Zildjian A Ping Ride

I was looking at them for a bit at Guitar Center a few weeks ago. They sound nice, but the only problem, as with almost all Zildjians, is the price :/
I got mine for 200, brand new. I fucking love them.
I got mine for 200, brand new. I fucking love them.
Where at?
I hate SK1 they sound like crap Im thinking of buying yet another pair of EMAD 2's and using either my old emad 2's or sk1's as resos....
Where at?
Ebay.
I'm really shaky on buying drums/cymbals from eBay. I just get worried they could be damaged or something.
Anyone here ever tried Saluda Cymbals?
Anyone here ever tried Saluda Cymbals?
No, I've looked into buying them before though. Amazing sounding cymbals, and amazing customer service from what I've heard. You can get everything made custom from them too. I wanted to make my own mini-line, Panzershrek.
Now That i know what I need any suggestions on a good brand thats at a reasonable price (New Zealnd Dollars)
Do you know of any decent New Zealand music shops? If you can get a few websites for me, I can find stuff that is available to you.
