[QUOTE=dcalde78;17123527]And it turns out that one of my friends needs a drummer, so if all goes well, I could get into a band :v:
[editline]08:15PM[/editline]
But I'm really crap.[/QUOTE]
Just keep it simple, a solid beat is better than a crazy one that you fuck up every measure.
I think I'd be playing metal stuff, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, that sort of thing.
But i need to start playing again first.

Iron Maiden is something I would recommend working on first, Maiden drummer doesn't use double bass but does use heel toe technique, so it should make good warm up onto double bass. A good Maiden song to start out on is Journey Man, basic beat with a few easy fills.

Journey man is very very very easy. 8ths on high hat, followed by 2 bass quarter notes on 1 and 1&, than rest two quarter notes for 2 and 2&, bass pedal on 3 than rest for the rest of the measure. Snare hit on 4. Rinse and repeat and that is basically it. Simple to play, just got to remember when the cymbal hits are.
Another song is Number of the beast. Other than the intro its a pretty easy song for the main drum part.
High hat on 1, 2, 3, and 4. Snare on 2 and 4. Bass pedal on 1& and 3&. On the second measure however the second half starting from 3 to 4& gets changed to. high hat on 3 and 4, bass pedal on 3, and snare on 3&.

I just want to throw in there that stick spinning does not make you look cool.
Their aren't a lot of simple Iron maiden songs as well, you might want to stick to a slower band for starting out.

Savin' for one.
Probably just gonna bail on my ride for a while, don't use it often anyway.
If you get rid of your old snare send it to me, my current one sounds like someone put a cat inside of it and someone keeps hitting it.
Like hell I'm getting rid of my snare, I love it.

Yeah, it sounded fucking awesome in all the sound clips/videos I could find of it on the internet. I was watching all these HD videos of various HHX rides, and the Dry Ride stuck out way above the others.
The groove ride was close, but the Dry Ride was just like instant eargasm. I'm so glad I found one on eBay for $140 =D, hopefully everything's good with it.
You lucky sod! Anyway, gonna buy me some effect splashes I'm gonna stack on my other crashes, this saturday. I'll also be purchasing a Roland Td4k for practicing.
Does anyone know of any books for rock drumming that are either one band's music, or lots of different bands but of the same style, written in drum music?
[editline]06:33PM[/editline]
If that makes any sense.
Carmine appice realistic rock drumming or something, is a good book.
