Anyone tell me if The wind cries mary, is hard?
Doing it for a blues performance in my music classs :v:
I've started jogging each morning and i gotta say it's helped my drumming big time. More stamina and more leg-muscles. And it's also relaxing, so that I'm relaxed when playing. Recommended!
Could someone tell me how tight do I need to screw the cymbal to the stand? Because if I screw it too tight it doesn't sound good. And if it's not tight and I hit the cymbal, the cymbal starts to spin a little with the screw and in the end the screw will just loosen out. Is there anyway to get it just right? or will it be always like that?
Get the cymbal very loose. And i mean. VERY loose.
...Do you have foam whatcha-ma-jiggers inbetween it and the metal?
I have my cymbals tightened with like, medium feel. Its not tight, its not loose, its something between, a medium : )
Dont put your cymbals too tight or they will crack, done that. Bought 1 staggg cymbal years back, and it went broke in the same day after 2 hours of play :/
It's partially preference for how much do you want the cymbal to flow when you hit it, and it slightly affects sound.
Don't have it tight where it doesn't sway when you hit it, but if it's a semi-light cymbal (such as a crash) you may want to have it medium tight, and a bit tighter for really small/thin cymbals such as Splashes or Chinas.
I personally have my splash tight enough where it will stop moving after less than a second, my 2 smaller crashes sway for about 2-3 seconds, and my big crash and ride are moderately loose.

Oh and I got my HHX 21" Dry Ride on Tuesday =) I'll try to get some pics and a video up soon!

Yey, sounds good, please try to get them up as quickly as possiblee :)
I'll take pics today; video, not sure. I was playing earlier, but it was pretty sloppy since I was exhausted from getting into town at like 1am last night from the away football game haha. (I'm in marching band)
Anyways, I'll try to get a video later with the pics, or maybe tomorrow.
Wow for a bass Sk1 as reso and PS3 as batter makes a great combo and great sound!
Wait how am I dumb for that?

Here's a pic of my drum set. Nothing special there :P Only my awesome notebook :D
Ugh. Learning to play to metronome is a bitch
People should learn to play to a click track early on, because if you ever get to professional level you need to be able to do it.

That's why I'm learning. Drum instructor is also forcing me.
Along with five stroke rolls. Paradiddles. Anything he can find to make me rage.
Learn to play with a click, and you'll get tight. Also, learn the 6 stroke roll. It's immensively handy for fills. Greats like Gadd, Weckl and Colaiuta use it all the time.
I need to stop being lazy and play my drums more often, I just wish the floor in my room would stop moving around so much when I do play.

I would play drums but my kit sounds like someone put a cat in all my drums and whenever I hit they scream.

Why? Just hit the drum when you hear a beep. :P Not that hard in my opinion. :D

No. You need to hit the drum as it beeps. Easy to do at simple stuff but try it with 16ths.
Haha, heres a jazz-playalong I've recorded drums too. Now, theres alot of errors, but I just wanted to have fun and not be too serious. I'll probably record a more "perfected" one laters.
My drum teacher every year hosts a drum fest where all of his students, including me of course, bring their set and do a bunch of stuff at my uncles house, because he's friends with my drum teacher and he lives out in the country with a huge-ass yard. Anyway because of rain it keeps getting canceled, and it's been post-poned for like five times. gaaahh
Where does your uncle live?
No. You need to hit the drum as it beeps. Easy to do at simple stuff but try it with 16ths.
Easy. Try with a slower tempo first?

I use a free foot to keep the beat along with the metronome and play along with my foot, makes it a little easier for me. :D

Thats what I do, on 1 2 3 4 I if Im not currently using my bass pedal foot for something Ill use it for that.
I play "the drums" because I like to express myself with multiple rythmic patterns and phrases.
