Here's my new ride cymbal! It's so amazing. It's quite heavy, about 2x heavier than my B8 Ride Cymbal; it has an amazing crash/sustain if you build it up with like yarn mallets or something, or just crash really hard with sticks, doing a fast cymbal roll. Great pingy/dry ride too. Here's the rest of my kit, updated. Sold my B8 Ride, and B8 14" crash in trade for some Moongel, a Remo Control Sound snare head, Hazy 300 (they didn't have hazy Ambassador, so whatever) snare side head, and Puresound custom 20-strand snare wires. My snare is fucking amazing now =D Gonna go work on the video I recorded a few days ago, see if I can crop a good section out of there haha...it's with a shitty digital camera, so the sound will not be great (or good =/) and I didn't warm up. So we'll see =) [editline]09:51PM[/editline] Actually, I'll just try and record a new video tomorrow or Saturday, the old video is pretty sloppy, and I hadn't really tuned up my snare properly after the heads settled a bit.
You lucky bastard! I want that ride! Goddamn, I hate being low on money. Good choice on those Dave Weckl sticks too. Ah well, some new recordings  Links: http://filesmelt.com/downloader/if_51_fast_-_Drums.mp3 http://filesmelt.com/downloader/ig_52_slow_-_Drums.mp3
I just bought a boom stand for a cymbal I'm getting (once it comes in, using old crash for now), and it's quite possibly the most complex stand I've ever worked with 0.o

I can't afford anything good out of my own pocket, I used like all my birthday money, and borrowed $40 from my sisters haha. And thanks, I love the sticks as well.

You have a nice splash next to your ride there.
You have a nice splash next to your ride there.
Pretty sure that it is a cut out bell.
I play drums and to comment on the OP i think you should just go and put some music on an MP3 or and ipod and play along with your favorite bands every day this way you can hear what a good drummer sounds like and absorb and incorporate it into the way you play Music lessons are a waste of time and money. If you do as i suggested you'll be a great drummer in no time, i did it and now i'm the best in my school.

Unless you're following a drummer who knows no rudiments such as a double stroke roll or a five stroke roll etc, then sure, you'll play as well as them. But follow a drummer like Niel from Rush you will struggle. He uses plenty of rudiments to play. I can guarantee you he uses a paradiddle in Working Man.

I took a cheap china cymbal that I got for like $15, and cut it down since it was too annoying as a china haha. Doesn't sound bad, good trashy splash effect cymbal now. Nothing compared to my ride though =)
Bleh, Idea drought. Can't come up with any good fills or grooves. Well well, a new batch of recordings. http://filesmelt.com/downloader/ii_53_slow_-_Drums.mp3 http://filesmelt.com/downloader/ih_52_fast_-_Drums.mp3
I'm not a drummer, but drumming seems really easy to me. Especially for rock music. so simple
I'm not a drummer, but drumming seems really easy to me. Especially for rock music. so simple
Thats because you're not a drummer. It's easy to get into, but impossible to master completely. Even if you are good at one genre of music, theres 100000 more.
I'm not a drummer, but drumming seems really easy to me. Especially for rock music. so simple
Yeah it looks easy sounds easy, and when it's rock music with a straight 4/4 beat it is easy, but if that's all you do you aren't a good drummer.
Got me a set of Red Wine Pearl Forum! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2017574&id=1446576142&l=69cdf64f9e

Drum lessons helped me out alot, not only as a drummer but also as a musician. Plus it's much better to get something to lead off of from a professional rather than just some random guy, and it's much better learning something when you see it in real life.

Hey guys, im back after having no computer :( What's going on ? :)
[qoute]A book isn't going to tell you that you're doing it properly.
actually if you get the right book it could, with pictures and some teach yourself books come with cds. [editline]04:49PM[/editline]
A book isn't going to tell you that you're doing it properly.
/
Ah yes! 3 days with the band and we've made a new tune. Its called "Dan Druff from hell(or outer space). Now only to record it.
@Happy Days Have you ever even taken lessons? They help alot
After 3 days straight with the band, making a new tune, I took some time off to record another playalong. I'm really really pleased with it and I hope to get some feedback on it. I was playing around with a Steve Gadd licks and a Jojo Mayer lick and I finally managed to get them both in this song. Link: http://filesmelt.com/downloader/ik_54_slow_-_Drums.mp3
