Anybody who is thinking of going with an electric kit, do it. They are worth all you pay, unless they are crappy unknown brands. Rolands are the best and most realistic out there, but there is a hefty price. I have a Yamaha DTX series(DTXPL) drumkit, and with a little tweaking and some accessories, it's very nice. The best part is that it was only $700 and sounds great!(except the hi-hat which sounds like trash cymbals vibrating together)
I hate VDrums >_> Playing them sucks too.
:D nice feedback guys Any more kits :D
The Metallica album ...And Justice For All. Drums are beyond fucking perfection plawx listen to it
Tell me about it :D I love metallica drums , really fast and nice to listen to.
2. Do you think books would help me learn or actual drum teacher/lessons ? Books seem boring but have alot of info , but lessons seem more active and easier to learn from.
Neither... (Note this is an opinion, so no flaming) IMO: The best way to learn drums, is to start from the basics, and go by ear... Not everyone can do it, though. I started at the age of 7 (19 now) and started by playing simple stuff with my dad helping by clapping his hands (he's a guitarist). So once I got the whole 1 2 3 4 thing down (was fairly easy for me, was told I was a natural), I started by playing one of my favorite bands' new cd (at the time was Ixnay on the Hombre, by The Offspring) and if you notice, a LOT of the older Offspring stuff has the same drum beat. Playing the songs of early Offspring is great to get used to knowing a drum beat and seeing how it can fit in to certain sounds. Learning by ear's the way to go, really. But if you have that chance (which I did not, money related) to get a teacher and sit down and learn some music theory, then have at it! It'll help you dearly in the long run. Listen to a lot of classic rock... IE: Rush, Boston, Jimi Hendrix, etc., because the drums are very articulate. F.Y.I. - If you have a music teacher in your school (high school band teacher is ideal), befriend him/her and ask if they'd like to teach you about music and music theory after school or something. My old band teacher in high school is an amazing jazz drummer and I was one of his favorite students, so he offered when I didn't even think about asking, to teach me drum cadences, warm-ups, styles, and opened me up to a whole array of music. So check out a lot of Classic Rock, Jazz, and even some older country (more rhythmic, not a lot of movement throughout the drum set, but you can hear a lot going on if you pay attention. IE: Willie Nelson's drummer). Hope I helped. :/
Also, never limit yourself to only one genre. Expand your musical tastes and drumming.
Yeah :D - i do like ALOT of genres and i'm currently trying new techniques
Ear protection is a must if you play actual acoustic drums. Seriously.
Ear protection is a must if you play actual acoustic drums. Seriously.
Hmm , sound doesnt seem to bother me..
Later on, it will. Trust me.
Use ear-protection, you will regret it if you don't. I've always been using ear-plugs when I play, and my hearing is all good.
Hmm, ok ill buy some :D How do you read drum tabs ? - Really want to learn so i can jam with my mate who plays guitar.
What is being hit on a tab should be listed. It is really easy to read tabs. http://www.mxtabs.net/view/tab/179856/dream_theater/pull_me_under/ Does that clear it up a bit?
Yeah quite alot actually thanks :D So how long has everyone been playing ? - I got my drums last year , but havent really bothered till now.
I've been playing for a year everyday. I really have a liking for the drums.
I dunno , i might start to learn , sounds mega fun :D But i also love guitar ...

Terry Bozzio begs to differ.
Terry Bozzio begs to differ.
I really never cared about him. The ONLY reason he has all thos drums is to show off and I don't think he is that good either.
Terry Bozzio begs to differ.
That bitch stole my kit. :P Nah, I wish... :(
Terry Bozzio begs to differ.
What band is he in?
Terry Bozzio begs to differ.
His kit is like masturbating in public. Just because you can have a huge-ass kit like that, it doesn't mean you should. He only needs that many toms because they're melodic tuned. That's pretty gay, takes away the concept of drumming.
Oh shut up all of you! Terry Bozzio took drumming to a new level. There wouldn't be drummer like Marco Minnemann and Thomas Lang without him. He played with Frank Zappa for godssakes, and Korn. Atleast he tries to do something different and make it more musical. It's a classical-music approach to a drumkit. How cool isn't this? Continued.
Dude thanks that really helped , ill try to talk to my musci teacher etc. Srsly thanks lol :D What kit you have?
Sorry for the extremely late response... Anyway... Tama Rockstar Edition, Wood Green... These pics aren't completely what it is now, I've taken some off for mobility and because the off-color tom bothered me, and some racks for my LP stuff is broken... Plus I'm trying to just keep a more simple set...So to sum it all up, roto toms, off-color tom, LP stuff (except wood block), and like 1 cymbal is off of it now...
