Hey guys I was wondering what is it called when your on a crash and and snare and between thoughs there are 3 bass hits. If you have ever heard anything by underoath you will know exactly what I'm talking about also is there any exercise for this?
Simple, its called hitting your bass pedal 3 times. "Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria is a song that demonstrates what you are talking about very well, the only real way to practice this is to make sure you've got your timing down solid and to just experiment with hitting the kick drum quickly in succession while maintaining your time. I prefer to do quick hits with one foot, a lot of people do a R-L-R hit on their double bass pedal though.
Fuck you Steve's Fill, and the horse you rode in on. I hate the Steve Fill :(

Also using double bass for that feels like cheating to me allllooot and I don't feel right playing it when I know I was able to play it with 1 pedal, but my pedals suck there mapex 750p and I'm hopefully getting some iron cobras soon

Saved up for two years to finally be able to buy new heads and cymbals: Cymbals: AAX Stage Hats 14" HHX Stage Crash 18" HH Rock Ride 22" Drums: Tama Superstar in Piano Black 8x7, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14, 16x16 toms 14x5.5 snare 22x18 bass drum I spent a couple of days buffing out all the metal and polishing the finish. With the new cymbals and heads the kit practically looks new, but it's over five years old. Amazing what a microfiber cloth + guitar polish will do.

Especially trying to do a fill with it.

I haven't really gotten a chance to play the kit since I took those pictures so not everything is in place yet.

Guys, I'm gonna finally get off my lazy ass and learn to actually play a song on drums. What song should I learn to play? I do not have double bass so some metal songs are out.

Hello peeps. I havent posted anything for a while, but now I have made a new investment and I will be doing somekind of "first touch" video with these in near future. Behold I got them by mail today and went to my rehearsal place right away. And from the first sight/touch I was really loving it. I basicly bought this baby because I needed longboard pedals, and Demon Drive is really good, cos it has the short- and the longboard option. Changing to the longboardmode was easy with the tools/instructions given. I made some adjustments (put on the light mode) and then I tested. The feeling was really good. Then I made a few other adjustments (changed the handle mode to power and adjusted the beater angle) and tested again. Still getting better and better. I have never played longboards before, but I was suprised how fast I started to get the feel to it. And I noticed that right away, I started to do more with my ankles. I think it will take week or two before I start to get more control to it. The thing that suprised me was this; I have been using Alesis DM5 and Roland Kick trigger for some time. With the old pearl eliminator pedals, the trigger sometimes made a few "double" taps when I hit the drumhead. Now, when I played with the Demon drives, there was nothing like that. I cant really tell why, but can it maybe be because of the beaters? Anyway, I love the product so far, really worth the 666€ + postage. The quality is really good, the pedal is really versitile, adjustable and still easy to use.

My teacher Kai Hahto is doing a "Pearl Eliminator Demon Drive Tour" and goes around Finland telling about them and showing them in action etc. Many professional drummers think they are even better than Axis. I hope I can buy those sometime in the future. :)
So, I'm thinking of getting a new kit for jazzier stuff. I currently have a Tama Swingstar (2000-2002?) that's in great condition, but the sound is a bit too powerful over toneful, which I used to love for prog metal/etc. Anyways, I'm thinking currently of getting a 6 piece Gretsch Catalina Maple kit, with 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 inch toms, and a 22 bd, no snare (I have a nice snare already). Although, I'm willing to forgo the 16 inch floor tom, but I'm really digging smaller drums now for funkier 'grooving'. So, any comments on the Gretsch kit? Or alternatives around the $700-$1000 USD price range (for a shell pack)? Btw, I like coated heads (Coated Emperors), and a sound similar to Gavin Harrison's.
