Yeah, everything is tight on it. That's why whenever I turn the snares off and play, a medium hit(forte if you know what that means), you still hear snare. I might end up getting another snare and putting it to the left of my hi-hat, and just keep the snares off.
Yeah your snare is stock. I'd switch it out in a heart beat along with the heads.
All my stuff is stock, I've had this thing since 2nd grade when I started playing. I'm not getting new drums unless I'm getting a new set, which my parents agreed to pay most of, as long as I'm doing more things with drumming, and I am very serious about it. I spent most of my money on that tom stand and that sound block rack, so I couldn't get a good snare even if I wanted to.
Wait second grade? How long have you been playing?
...I put a sock in my floor tom to try to dampen the bottom head, do to sick overtones (from any drum near it), now it sounds like a duck quacking.. Let's try something else -_-
Wait second grade? How long have you been playing?
I started taking lessons in 2nd grade, and shortly got a set after. I mostly had snare drum lessons up until 5th grade, when I started doing mostly set stuff. Now in 8th grade, and I'm pretty sure I'm the best drummer in the school, because I'm the best in the school band, and drummers who don't take lessons don't start getting good until they get older, as most of them just started like 2 years ago. And I'm in this school program where we cover songs, and perform them. We have 2 periods of music practice a day so I can see who's good and who isn't. The people who don't take lessons aren't the greatest. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying people who don't take lessons are bad, I'm just saying their progress is usually slower. And if they just cover songs, that makes their progress even slower.
Oh look at me ramble.
Dude upgrade your kit Bro.
I don't mean to brag but I've been playing since aug of 08 and I already upgrade my kit aswell as added two more kits.
You deserve it, Also how long have you been playing double bass?
Just went and bought a Pork Pie 13 x 7 Brass Patina Snare today and it sounds A-mazing, it sounds great cranked or it can produce a nice fat sound tuned down, I am extremely pleased with this drum.

I don't have money for a new set, and I wouldn't even know what to go for if I did. Also, I've been using a double pedal for about 2 years. I don't use it when playing beats, nor do I like double bass songs. I usually just use it for drum breaks and fills. If I can figure out how to use my family's camera I'll upload a video of me playing.
I have around 150 - 200 of christmas, and im looking for a electric drumkit, preferably with more than one kick, and a full setup.
I know its alot to ask but does anyone know anywhere?

None of the electric-kit manufacturers sell their kits with 2 bassdrum-triggers as standard(as far as I know). I recommend you save up to the Td9 and buy a set of double-pedals.
Anyway, recorded a new funk-drumvid with improved drumsound!

Do you have an acoustic set(a normal one)?
Ugh I'm in a bit of a sticky wigget guys, I'm suppose to be trying out for a "screamo" band this Sun and I'm looking forward to it in a way but in another Its really frustrating because Idk if I can really play that genre of music. The singer said for drumming he was looking for some pop sound and quick burst of double bass. I can do regular double bass kinda slow for a lil bit but I'm not really sure how to do the quick burst(Other than doing heel toe on both feet but thats too quick I'd like to space it out longer) he gave me a song tht was alot like they are planning to be but not as heavy and fast it was live, love, die by In faith and fear(This band has the most ANNOYING SINGER IN THE WORLD) He told me not to worry bout the start of the song If I can't play that fast but basic thats how they are. What really bothers me is that I have off days some days to were I'm good double bass wise and then occasionaly the next day I'm not as good. Like tonight I was playing faster and better than I ever have and I played yesterday and it was good too but tonight it was like I improved alot and I was just wanting to keep that improvement so I can make it in this band. Well tell me what you guys think! /blog

Drummer is talented
I agree the drummer is talented, because he sings and plays at the same time. Not many drummers can do that (like me, i can't sing for shit). But I wouldn't say the drumming is very talented. When I first started playing drums (like 10 years ago) I could play all the rhythms he plays in like a month. I'm not saying he's a bad drummer, I just don't think he plays drums very good. Particularly if you already have that kind of an audience that's shown in the video. Personally I think he's not really good.

Yeah ive got an acoustic, a shitty one like, but meh.
Bought some Tama octobons from Guitar Center the other day. One the best purchases I've made. I got I think the 20" and 22". along with the stand for them and remo pinstripe heads all for $100. Got them used but they honestly look, sound, and feel new.

don't join a shitty screamo band. Just start your own good band and kick his band's ass. Also you probably don't need to be that good at double bass. if your crafty you could make some good metal beats using one foot. If you really want to try out, don't sweat it. Most of the time I play something on drums no matter what it is people seem to be blown away by it.

20 and 22 inch octobans? Those don't sound like octobans at all, octobans are small accent toms.

Execpt I don't have four of them only, two. I meant to say 20 and 22" inches deep btw.
Nevermind
Anyone actually know any cheap drumkits? (electric)
I had the singer come by last night because he wanted to hear me cover Dead man's chest by Parkway drive and he said he was blown away it was amazing and I was in the band.
There are thousands of drum lessons on youtube, some of them are really good

I would suggest using www.craigslist.com if you're looking for something cheap.

congratulations.

I want an electric kit really badly, my current acoustic is pissing me off.
If you want an electronic set, Best Buy isn't a bad place to check. They have mostly electronic sets. Some Best Buys even have a whole section full of musical equipment. They lack in acoustic drums and cymbals though, but hardware and electronics they seem to be good with.
The thing is I tried loads of electrics at my local music shop and from what I can tell they all feel quite shitty except the ones which are like £3000.
If you want a DECENT starting electric kit least break for a YamahaDTXplorer.
I bought a barely-used Zildjian ZBT pack off of this guy I know. It had two 14" hi-hats(replaced my stock hi-hats), one 20" ride, one 16"(I think) crash, and one 16" china. That brings me to 3 crash cymbals, 2 rides(my paiste crash also serves as a ride), and 1 china. I'm going to go to GC tomorrow and get stands for them, so I'll post pictures and maybe demos soon.
I had first practice yesterday everything went well except the crack in my meinl crash was growing and that my heads on my toms sounded dead and bad ha but it went awesome
