Hey, I'm more of a guitarist, but am I right in saying that the drummer's job in Seven Nation Army would be fairly easy?
For those unfarmiliar with the song;

Yeah, it's one of the easiest songs I've ever heard. As long as you can keep the beat, anyone can learn it.
Found an awesome drum vid:

I'm in with the chance of getting a TD-9 with 2 extra cymbal pads for about £900. I can not let this one go.

Might be getting that for my bday soon, theyll be my first kit and ill probably end up taking lessons. How long of practice would it take for me to start covering metal songs?

Gah, I played a gig last night and I lost a bunch of screws and shit. Have to do some drum shopping for the first time ever and I've been playing for 7 years :v:

Holy christ it cost so much to replace some cymbal wing nuts and grub screws. Does anyone know where I can get cheap wing nuts, grub screws and tuning keys?

Ordering from stores with cheap prices, but there's a wait. Or Ebay. Generally stores do raise the prices alot compared to how they bought them from the manufacturer. Cymbals without stands cost upwards of $600 where I live.

Does anyone know of some long lasting sticks? I'm looking for some to cut back on spending.
^get fatter sticks. or, you can stop whaling on the kit.
you can stop whaling on the kit.
Never do this.
Does anyone know of some long lasting sticks? I'm looking for some to cut back on spending.
The fattest sticks I know are the Daney Carey sticks. I´m using Jojo-mayer sig atm, and
they´ve lasted a quarter of a year, with me playing at least 3 hours a day.
Never do this.
Never stop hitting too hard on a kit? That's what breaks things...
If my parents let me I'll be getting my TD-9 this weekend.
Never do this.
Yeah, do this. Drums aren't indestructable. If you pound on them 3 hours a day like Thaard, shit is going to break.
By whaling, I thought he just meant hitting in general.
Was just encouraging him to keep playing. :<
But yeah... don't slam the shit out of them... that's just begging for trouble.

Mine hardly have dents in them, and I play mine a fair bit, for about a year now.

I never try to wail on them myself. I usually play Pro-Mark millennium 5B which generally tend to last at least 3 months, but my last pair broke and I had to resort to using some other, thinner sticks I had, and they broke really fast. I even got a pair of zildjian 5B's that broke in a day.
This is the kit I'm getting, it's a TD-9 with two extra cymbals.

Oh man, that looks nice to play.
Sadly it doesn't come with that nice DW pedal, unless I'm prepared to pay for it on top of the inital price. But I don't have any money after paying for it and I've already got a double pedal, albeit not a very good one.

whats the advantage of an electronic drum kit over a real drumkit?
I'm getting one because my accoustic is simply too loud to play as much as I want to without the neighbors complaining. That's all really. Plus I can easily play along with music, or record my drumming and stuff like that.
You can also program the 'drum heads' to sound different no?
You can also program the 'drum heads' to sound different no?
yeah. it's also smaller and not as hassling to set up as opposed to an acoustic.
Acoustics will always be superior though.
^indeed but my future endeavor is to get electric pads for my acoustic set for some real fun :D
