^indeed but my future endeavor is to get electric pads for my acoustic set for some real fun :D
Danny Carey (I think?) uses electronic pads with his acoustic. It's good stuff.
So, I haven't posted here in a while! I'll post my current drumming affairs. Currently, I play about 3-6 hours a week, but exclusively at my church; my personal set (Tama Swingstar) is upstairs for youth which is on Wednesdays, and on Mondays/Tuesdays I play downstairs on an epic DW Custom set. The history behind this DW set! Back in the early 90s, Kevin Prosch (leader of music at my church, runs the Third Ear Music recording studio which is built inside the church) watched Terry Bozzio do a drum clinic at a music store; I can't remember where. Anyways, Terry went and played every kit in the place, then decided on a Blue/Black DW Custom set with gold hardware; however, he wanted a different snare, so after playing every snare in the place he decided on a fucking solid ass maple (thickest shell, and heaviest wooden snare I've ever played on) DW snare. After the clinic, Kevin Prosch (my church music homie) went up and asked to buy the kit; now it's in the main sanctuary and I get to play is 2x a week (/jizz) I love being involved in music at this church. Kevin Prosch is a musical genious, and it's been his life since he was a child. It's just amazing playing with him; our "worship" nights (Monday/Tuesday) consist of 2 hours of improvisation; there is no rehearsals, or arranged material to play. Very interesting playing with musicians who can play along to anything that anyone else in the group starts playing. Now, this studio is bad fucking ass. Here is a couple pictures to prove the awesomeness. He also has a nice, really old, Ludwig kit, lots of sweet cymbals, and a wall with just a bunch of snares on shelves. Infact, here's his "Drums" list of equipment for the studio.

DW Custom 6 Piece Kit W/Loads Of Different Cymbals.
Craviotto Custom 5 Piece Kit.
50's Era WBL 4 piece Vintage Kit.
Various Types Of Hand Drums and Lots of Shakers.
DW Maple Snare.
Craviotto Custom Mahogany Snare.
Craviotto Custom Brass Snare.
Craviotto Custom 5 x 14 Maple Snare.
Maxwell Custom 7x14 Copper Snare.
1928 Gretch Radio King Snare.
Remo Mondo Snare w/Fiberskin Head.
22 Ince Frame Drum W/Fiberskin.
Craviotto Custom Birdseye Maple Snare.
I am so glad I've gotten this opportunity; I'll have to get a recording sometime!
holy shit, wished I believed in God.
Holy shit, that looks like a nice play to play. I play at my teachers recording studio every wednesday, but his drum set is set super low, and I have long legs so they hurt after some double kicking.
aljaud hi your lucky if only my church was cool and had a drumset
holy shit, wished I believed in God.
I don't honestly. Shh! haha
damn church sounds fun now
I love it haha. Infact playing again tomorrow night! Should be fun. That dude has so much shit; he has a bunch of acoustics that are 40-90 years old too, just look at his god damn equipment list. And I'm pretty sure that list is 2-3 years old.

I just got a boner!
I want to get this: . My drum teacher has it on his kit and it's beautiful
It looks beautiful! I want one of the Craviotto custom snares that my music guy at church has :3.
I just picked up the Roland TD-9 on Friday, played it all today, it's fucking awesome though it has suprisingly dodgy support for double bass pedals, I mean they work but not very well, so I'm going to practice with the ol' single pedal until I have the money to buy a better kick pad. It feels wierd to play drums after not having played them for so long.

Dont let the thread die!
Oh wow that's nice. It'd be lovely to have a huge amount of variety to put into your music.
The great thing about it is that it's only 200 dollars.
Drums rool. I'm really thinking about investing in a higher end Electronic Drumset. I love playing set, but I hate the volume when you just want to play to yourself. I do love acoustic sets though.
^use earplugs
Would electric or acoustic be better for beginners?
i wouldn't say one or another would be better for a beginner, but an electric set offers more room and less noise, but an acoustic is easier to upgrade and it feels alot better. i say go for an acoustic, it'll be better in the long run.
I started on an acoustic and i recommend it. If youre going to start off you might as well start with a bang.
Hey my sister wants to start drumming and my cousin says he would happily teach her when he comes in but ATM space is limited. Any suggestions on which kit to go for?
if space is limited i'd say get an electronic
Pretty much certain Ill be getting a drum kit for my bday in 20 days, looking at this: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Alesis-DM6-Electronic-Drum-Set-875801-i1449703.gc Keep in mind this is my first kit, so im hoping this is a good idea. How often do they add a new version to electric kits?
Looks fine to me, but I've never used an electric kit. I prefer using an acoustic and muffling the noise so it's very minimal.
If you're afraid of the noise you shouldn't be drumming on a set anyway.
