I sometimes use my computer as a percussion when I feel like drumming.:fuckyou:
I've been drumming for a few years now but I've always had a really crappy set. I bought it way overpriced from some store when I was like 10. So, it sounds like crap and I hate it. When I get my marks back tomorrow, as long as I get over 77 on my French exam, I'll be getting the Roland TD-4K. I can't wait! And if I get an 80, I get the CY-12 cymbal too! The cymbal that comes with the kit can't detect the difference between the bell and edge. The CY-12 can. :v:
I have a Pearl Forum FZ725 with a 17" Sabian AAX Dark Crash, 20" Sabian AAX Dry Ride, 18" Sabian XS20 Chinese, 18" Zildjian Custom A Crash, and 12" Zildjian Custom A Splash. I also use the original kit hi-hat and crash/ride. I have Aquarian drum heads and a Yamaha Flying Dragon double kick pedal.

that hardware and cymbals need a better drum kit! (and hi-hat)
personally, i'd flip over the china, and take the price tag off, they tend to last longer (or a lifetime, i'f you have technique) when you don't hit them on the lid but on the bevel.
Sup! New drum vid. This is a tune the keyboardist in my band made. Really weird stuff. Hope you like.

Hahah thats awesome, bouncy and jolly beat :P
vertex flip the china or your going to break it and your sticks
The China has been flipped since the day I took that picture, which was also the day I bought the set. I plan on replacing the hi-hat once I get the money for it.
For those of you that use double bass, how long did it take for the awkwardness of using your left foot to disappear?

Ordering today and cant come to a decision, more opinions help!
I'd go with the darker blue finish, a plain red finish like the second option doesn't look as nice
A brighter coloured finish always look nicer when it has texture, like this:

I recommend: 14" snare 12, 13, 14" toms, and a 20" bass
I got my first kit a few months back, a pearl forum with ZHT cymbals, not crazy for the 16" crash and the ride is a little not 110% but the hats sound as good as any I've played, getting second and third opinions from more experienced drummers I've been told I've got a nack for tuning.
Have to plug Alan Lynn from a local band called LaFaro, he's a king.

There's a few videos of attempts to master the Tuppenny Nudger opening fill, above.

I think you can suffer from too many toms though, fuck, I rid myself of my 13" and now I've just got a 14" rack tom and 16" floor (possibly getting another 18" floor), just barely differently tuned, and that's about all I can see anyone needing but I'm not king Drummor of Drum land, so it's entirely preference.

I was saying that I can't see the need for any more than 2 toms.
With three toms you can go all "baddabadda-baddabadda-baddabadda-BISH"
I was saying that I can't see the need for any more than 2 toms.
For basic drumming, you don't need more than 2 toms. But when you start to get into more technical drumming, you're going to want to be able to play more than two notes on your toms. The problem is that everyone wants that 'scene' drum layout of the flat toms and high cymbals, which pisses me off because drumming shouldn't be about looks.
I also don't understand why people do the whole 'drummers who only use two toms are better because they can do less with more'
But hey, each to their own.

Scene drum layout? I've never heard of that.
Also technical drumming doesn't need more than two toms. That's variety drumming. I've seen jazz drummers play the sickest beats and grooves on a two tom kit. And jazz drummers are the most technical.

Like this. I don't really mind it, but when people sacrifice their ability to play well in order to have that kind of layout it sort of peeves me off.
I think I just prefer having more notes available to play. And the fact that most players that have two toms have a whopping great crash ride in the place of the second tom, so they create a wall of sound rather than the beautiful pingy ride feel which you hear so much in jazz and the like.
I am thinking about buying a doublebass pedal, but i don't know which one to choose. Any suggestions?

I fucking hate Underoath and I fucking hate Aaron Gillespie and I fucking hate Truth.

So you hate a drum-company because of someone who plays them? That's pretty harsh.
Truth make some beautiful drums
DW8000 double is a winner.

That layout there looks retarded. But for some people it could be the way they hold the sticks that gives them more rebound and flexibility from hitting the drums. A good example would be the Moeller Method which really needs you to have the drums flat or with a very slight angle.
What should piss you off more is people who have huge kits and only use 5% of it.

Gibraltor or Pearl pedals are good. Make sure they're a quality pedal or you'll develop a bad technique.

You're right, I use the Moeller Method and I play the best on flat drums. It's just depends on your way of playing.
And thanks for your advice on the doublebass pedal.

I don't think anyone uses this set-up to look cool. Aaron has a whopping 26" inch bass drum, so having a tom on top of the drum would be absurd. My drum set-up looks similar to Aaron's, because it actually works. The low toms are easier to travel on, and the high cymbals at eye level are easier to keep your arm at than at chest level. The high hi-hat gives it a bolder sound because it's easier to hit the edge. If you ever heard Aaron's playing, you can agree that he's far above the entry level drummer.
