Man, I wish I would've saved some money for a decent kit for my first one. I'm using a $200 Verve Set. 'What is Verve?' you ask? I have no idea.

Only decent thing on the kit is the Ride Cymbal.

Atleast you have a drum kit, remember that! All I have is a 6 inch practice pad... Not good for when I need to practice for gigs!
Here's my current set-up.

Sorry, I'm not too good at camera work.
So you hate a drum-company because of someone who plays them? That's pretty harsh.
Oh don't forget about the fact that you are paying thousands of dollars more for some sparkles on your keller shells.
I am considering getting some drums. Actually been thinking about it for a good while. I'd like some acoustic ones because would better, but I wouldn't mind the electric ones because they take up less space and are easier to record.

That's the problem with most "custom" drum-builders. With the best custom builders, you can choose your wood.

It's entirely down to preferance, you should try both in a shop and see which plays most comfortably, what I would say is that you could comprimise on space and get a set of flat drums, I've played flat snares before and they sound pretty damned good, especially compared to what you'd expect, check out video etc and see what you like man, I can guarantee you'll like what you get no matter what.

You must have really long arms because you set your cymbals very far away.
You must have really long arms because you set your cymbals very far away.
Not at all. My kit is set-up so your arms are at a ruffly 100 degree angle when you play the cymbals, which are at eye level. The angle probably makes it look like they are far, but they really aren't. The ride is actually too close. When I set up my shit, I take into account the ~16"~ sticks I use, so making the mistake of setting them really close than finally realizing that you play with sticks and not your hands won't happen to me. I don't know if that makes sense.
I try to make my stuff as compact as possible so it's a comfortable reach and I don't have to move as much if I want to swap cymbals or something.
And yea you do make sense.
Hey all. I'm back from holiday(at the moment), so I made this quick drum-cover of Queens of the Stone Age's: No one knows. Hope you enjoy. I'm gonna post more original tunes and drumming later.

My kit arrived at my house today and while assembling it, there seems to be like a half inch indent into the bass drum from the inside, will that do anything?
It shouldn't ^, except make it look not good if anyone notices.
Its on the inside of the bass drum and you REALLY have to look for it. Nobody has noticed a difference

That was quite nice man, good job.
Let's talk fills.
One of my current favorites(counted as 16ths)
RLRLRKLKRL
The split is Rack, Rack, Rack, Hat, Rack, Kick, Snare, Kick, Floor, Floor
Anyone else wanna share?
When you say rack, cymbals or toms or both?

Is it that you dont have space, or that its too expensive?
Because they can be quite cheap, but its hard to make/ find space
I've made a video of myself checking my freshly tuned drums (took me 2 hours, I took off all heads and stuff to archive a fat sound) It is sloppy because I didn't warm up, it's just an soundcheck!

Hopefully you find one that plays the music you enjoy to play.
I am happy to play in a alternative, groove metal band (something along "nu-metal" even if I don't like saying nu-metal because of the haters) And yea, bass and me are the most important feature :D Gotta love our grooves and catchy hip hop beats oldschool style!
It's pretty hard to actually find a band, I myself found my band by a grammar mistake while searching for youtube videos!
Here's my kit
I just got it last Sunday and for the most part I love it, the Hi-hat sucks though it sounds like a crash
