Is that an Ian Paice sig snare? I have the same one. Nice kit btw!
That's an awesome kit. Should post some videos of yourself playing.
Anyone here in a drum line/corps?
I'm in my high school band/line, and a Alumni Drum Corps. If you're looking for people in a DCI corps, they're still out touring the nation.

And remi, your kit is beautiful but i strongly disagree with your setup.

That's an Ian Paice signature indeed =D

I have recorded songs that I play on that I could post, with my band. I'm not too happy with my performance on them, but hell.

I run a home studio, so other drummers come in to record, so the setup sometimes differ.

People usually depreciate (sp?) themselves when they do something like music or art, etc.

Second hand. But the better quality ones are the expensive ones.

Usually.
My new tom stand hates me...
I'm planning on getting the DDrum D2 set for my birthday, but I've heard the cymbals are shit. I'm a new player, so I'd like some suggestions as to replacements.

Okay, I swear that this tom stand takes a goddamn rocket scientist to setup.

When I got my kit I replaced my cymbals with some B8s from Sabian. They sound great to me but they were 300$+, but it came with hi hat, crash and a ride.

What's wrong with it?
Also, your avatar is reaaaally distracting :saddowns:

Well I'm only a physicist. I don't know rocket science. So in other words I can't get this damn thing fully setup.

what tom stand do you have?, should have bought a pearl ax-38 and put it on a cymbal stand, nothing beats that!
also, b8 are beginner cymbals. 300 for a set is nothing, you're gonna pay 300+ for decent professional quality hi-hats. at least, unless you buy them second hand, buy your cymbals second hand, they will last a lifetime if you take care of them.
also to the guy who wants to buy the ddrum d2, dont'do it, those sets are generally crap, you're better of buying a second hand pearl forum or export kit if you insist on getting a kit for that price.
you're just gonna be left wanting a better kit, and you're not getting half back from you payed for your d2 kit, but if you buy a second hand forum or export kit, and decide you want something better, you'll notice it retains it value much better!
(the cymbals you get with the d2 are made of something i like to call... crap)
I got a T-800W Tom Stand from Pearl, I think either I'm just stupid or it may be just extremely hard, there's a screw thingy between the upper part and the base for the pipes, but it refuses to go all the way through, there's a piece of metal in the way, so either its there to make it extremely tight or I'm just really really special and there's something else.
I still recommend the B8 cymbals if he goes with that kit if he wants to go new, otherwise go for second hand.

Yeah, I know, theres still the finals. I'm also in my high school's line, but I'm in a weird situation. I'm depending on the director for which section I'm in so if he decides to cut the cymbal line this year I'm going in pit. And our instructor's have told me to go in pit for now so I don't think i have a high chance of being on the line this year.
Drum captain here! Lead snare. Is fun =)

Nice. I'm trying out for snare next year
Just had a bit of a playaround on my friends kit... shit I'm rusty, I hate it! Wish I had my own kit, but it's the money, the room, and the noise holding me back!
Go for it man, don't give me pussy excuses.

My high school band doesn't have a pit. I play bass in the line, but I'm probably(hopefully) playing quints or snare next year. I'm fine with either/or.
Also, fuck your instructors. Just practice a lot and get good before you tryout. At least try to get bass drum, because you likely won't go from the pit/cymbal line right to snare drum.

I was almost bass because 4th of 5 quit so I was put on but I was taken off in the same night because my parents didn't take me to 2 months worth of practices so my technique was shit. And I've already started practicing even though this year's season hasn't started.

Love how my kit is setup now, had to finally get around to putting the side back on my computer because my stick almost fell in it.
wait where's your ride
wait where's your ride
Its the largest one.
also i would move everything closer to eachother, the spaces inbetween are ginormous, how can you even get your legs on the bass pedal and the hi hat pedal, thats a way too big distance.
move the toms closer to the bassdrum, or even a big over the bassdrum, the cymbals lower, and generally everything closer, i wouldn't be able to play a setup like that.
