Keep the drums alive :v:
I might try drumming along to my iPod, but my set always overpowers it ? :/
i highly recommend getting some sort of isolation headphones if you haven't yet.

those are a popular choice and i myself use them. IMO they're more vital then u think. the drums don't hurt your ears nearly as much with them on, and the drums sound much better. the headphones dont go as loud at standard ipod earbuds, but they dont need to since the drums will be less loud.
they may seem a bit pricey but good isolation headphones are a requirement for a drummer.
Anything that muffles the noise is a must. You damage your ears if you play without ear protection.

Listen to him. I never play without hearing protection so I can hear myself in the mix better and to prevent hearing loss. Don't listen to anyone who says you don't need hearing protection if you are a drummer. Save your ears so you can laugh at them when they're deaf.

I can testify to this, cymbals can get loud as hell, even when hit quietly, when you smack them however you can hear them throughout a house. Which I'm sure is not good for your ears.

Try standing next to a marching snare when someone does a rimshot on it.

Try standing next to me while I play on my set, in Solo Ensemble I may be nice with their equipment but once its my equipment that thing is going down, I've only had my snare head for a week and you can visibly see that I have been playing it. There isn't just little white marks here and there from where my sticks hit they cover the entire middle circle except for the bottom half ( for some reason I never hit the bottom half of it, always near the top of the circle in the center).

Marching drums are louder than drum sets but all drums are loud as hell.
Also, I'm thinking of going for double bass, I'm not sure whether to go for a entire new bass drum or to go for a double bass pedal, I'm thinking entire new bass drum.

Why would you buy another bass drum? It is mostly for looks, an double bass drum pedal gives you the same + you have more money and less setting up the 2nd bass drum.

Ive been using a double bass pedal and not a separate drum. I suggest a pedal because an extra bass drum would take up space.

I do have plenty of space, my room is huge.

Bass Drum is the only one on this page, that's the one I'm looking at.
Also, no more using my dad's insulated headphones to protect my ears, I brought my stick up to high and the wire that goes into one headphone almost got pulled out when it got caught in the stick.
A couple of pictures of me drumming at my bands gig a couple of nights ago. I agree with what you guys have been saying about ear protection, it's a must!

I'm going double-bass soon too(double pedal). Still can't decide. I tried the demon drives not long ago. They were good, but I didn't like the direct-drive system. Maybe I'll by some Eliminators or Iron Cobras instead.. Also making a new drum-video.

Demon Drives are a lot better than Eliminators or Iron Cobras. Sure Eliminators and Cobras are very good, but Demons are better. I've tried about three different Demon Drive pedals and they were all really really good. Much nicer to play with than Eliminators or Cobras.

I've heard of people preferring the Iron Cobras over the Demon Drives. It all comes down to personal preference and what feels best to play on.
I myself love Demon Drive, maybe even more than Iron Cobras, but Demon Drives are just too expensive, although I haven't really tried any Iron Cobras/Demon Drives extensively.
I took Solo Ensemble this year, 100 dollars wasted on sticks I may not use Check, practice pad check, idiots who couldn't keep a beat playing quarter notes check.
It is incredibly annoying to be playing to a metronome and have some guy next to you playing off beat.

It is incredibly annoying to be in a school band and doing nothing all practice becase the damn trumpets and strings and whatnot have not learnt their parts and you have because it's one hit on a snare drum every 3 bars...
I like my DW5000s.
Anyone else love doing buzz rolls in the middle of playing 16th notes? Sounds awesome when you do it right.
Okay I haven't posted in a drum discussion thread in over 3 months. I fucked my knee up seriously a while back, and the excruciating pain that came from anything more intense than a slow walk is finally gone! I know you probably get this here a lot, but which is generally the 'best' online drum store in the UK? I've always relied on sound attak because they have a shop near me, but I think I could find better deals online.

Also has anyone here got a Cajon? I fucking love mine, it's amazing for chill jamming with my friends

I know the US online stores have nice prices for their quality. I've never used UK based one.
Ahh yea. Gotten myself a new band. A jazz/funk band. It's fun to play with other people again!

I'll post something, I want to test a different location for my mic.

I need to stop wearing that t-shirt, it makes me look fat.

Good man, I hope more people do this.
Remember, once the damage is done there is no going back.
I'm not a drummer (my brother is) I am a bassist but even I will not do a gig unless I have ear protection. I use Alpine Musicsafe ear plugs myself, no one can tell you have them in they are so small.

Sure, I'll try to record next time.
