Also, kit has two ways to play 16th notes on bass drum, either using the double pedal, or if I want something to sound weird reason, I can also use my old bass drum. The bass pedal came 75 dollars off because I got the kit.
It is a quicker way to break them. When you hit with the edge of your sticks you begin to chip them.
Tomorrow I have to tune 13 drums...
10 of which have 6 lugs top and bottom. 3 of which have 8 lugs...
I'm going to be busy tomorrow.

Why do you feel the need to have 10+ toms when you'd barely use them, and are just learning how to play?

What was the point of Kieth Moon blowing up one of his drums?

He was a professional and could do whatever the fuck he wanted.

And so can I. I don't need to be a professional to do anything. If we should leave drumming to professionals than why not just make music a paycheck and not an art.
Also, fits in with my style of drumming.

You seem to have a problem with nearly every poster's way of drumming.
I could tell I was off beat on Seven Nation Army, and I need to work on that. But I'm not used to playing to a metronome. I can play to a metronome, however I have to constantly correct myself.
I love playing across toms, when I play in my style, that's where I'm most on beat.
My dream kit has at least 12 cymbals and 4 toms. I make better use of cymbals if I have more than 2.
My dream kit has 5 cymbals - Hi-hat, ride, china, 2 crashes. Don't really see the need for more
Is a great way to teach your left foot for double base practicing snare rudiments on said double bass?

I thought it was only me that noticed it.
Is a great way to teach your left foot for double base practicing snare rudiments on said double bass?
Yes. Rudiments always increase the dexterity of your hands/feet.
Yes. Rudiments always increase the dexterity of your hands/feet.
The simple rudiments right? Not stuff like the triple ratamacue which I do not understand why its a rudiment.
Triple ratamacue is llR llR llR L R L R I believe. I do not know why its a rudiment.
Also, spent an hour just going back and forth on double bass, my left leg feels like jello.
Paradiddles, flams, flamadiddles, possibly drags and dragadiddles. I use the first three.
The complicated stuff is for people who just want to show off their skill. I'd rather work on my beats and playing with bands who will never want me to use that stuff.
I'll practice those as soon as I get the chance. Dad made me stop, playing to loud and to fast. I've been using the heel up technique for really fast double bass and heel down for control over shorter bursts.
I bought a pair of Black travis Barker sticks in London, no shops around me sell TB sticks in black. I take it home, next day we jam in my friends garage, I hit the crash, the top swivel point falls back. I continue hitting the cymbal, and take a huge chunk out of the side of my stick.
Thug life
Damnit, theres a small crack in my el sabor hand-crash. Only had it for 3 years.. Probably have to tape it or something.

weld that shit back together, tape is for babies
You can cut it past the crack, if you feel pro.
I'm pretty sure the reason why they use those is the sound, not necissarily how they cut through. Any instrument can be mic and tuned to match the sound of the drummer. If a drummer's main dynamic is loud, the instruments should match him. Making a drummer play out of his dynamic zone just messes things up if they don't have too much experience.
The drummer dictating the dynamics of the band is probably the worst idea I've ever heard. Generally the melody is what dictates the dynamic, aka, play under the melody because the melody has to be heard. Though this is just a generalization.
Sorry but someone saying, "Guys, I'm gonna play LAF (loud as fuck), so the rest of yall have to, too." is just stupid.
And you are only partially right about the gold instruments. They use gold lacquer because the sound is able to cut through the ensemble and be heard. That is why you don't see real trumpet and trombone players playing through mics at gigs. Like I said, there is a reason you don't OFTEN see silver trombones or silver trumpets in a traditional jazz band. The gold lacquer gives it a brighter sound better allowing it to cut through the loud ensemble.

I don't mean the dynamics matching the drummer(at least I didn't think I said that), I mean if a drummer's medium volume is different than another's, a band can easily use mics to match it, while still playing dynamics.

The only thing I have a problem with is why does a kid needs 10 toms when he's just learning to play?

Music is already just a paycheck for many people.
If you're Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy I can understand the need for many toms(but I don't like either), but you are neither and I doubt you have developed a playing style that needs so many toms when you haven't been playing that long. I wouldn't even need that many toms.
Here's a video of me playing some snare. Enjoy

That was really good. You're in Hawthorne, right? Were you at the DCA finals in Rochester?
Yep. I was the tenor section leader at Cabs this past summer. Rochester was a blast, as usual ;)
I'm trying out for the Blue Stars tenor line this November.
Awesome, I was at Rochester too.
Hope you get into the Stars :drum:
Were you performing or just watching?
Performing.

I've been playing drums for 3 years. For the past 4 weeks I've practiced nearly 2 hours a day EVERY day. I have a style, and it calls for as many damn toms as I want, as many cymbals as I want, and if it calls for putting cowbell on every piece of equipment I will do so.
Go change your tampon and come back when you're going to be a reasonable adult.
can someone post a tab for reckoner by radiohead? its got awesome drumming but there aren't any tabs for it on the internet

I honestly have no idea when you are ever going to use that many toms within the context of a song.
It depends on the fills I want to play. I can easily play a 8 quarter notes for a fill on entirely different toms, or I can stick to 3.
