You certainly don't look like a senior, and it looks like all the practice went to waste.
For someone who posts a lot about everyone else sucks, the evidence of your godly drumming skills sure is lacking in this thread. So far all your posts in this thread are, "YOU SUCK", "ITS YOUR FAULT", or my personal favorite "HEY IDIOT, I NEVER SAID THAT". So far, you have never posted anything to back up your claims, you apparently can tell the skill level of people based off a single video, and you keep trying to start arguments. So either you're a really annoying troll that I keep falling for, or you're just pathetic.

You're the only guy that I've ever got on in this entire thread, because the rest of the people here have talent/ actually try rather than saying they do on the internet. And of course I can tell people's skill level off a single video, ever heard of first impressions?
For someone who posts a lot about everyone else sucks, the evidence of your godly drumming skills sure is lacking in this thread.
You don't need to able to drum to tell someone sucks
Cry about it more. If you had dedication, you'd stick around until you'd get a better slot next year.
Oh boy, here we go. [editline]12:49PM[/editline]
You don't need to able to drum to tell someone sucks
This. Same as movie critics critiquing movies. [editline]12:53PM[/editline]
count yourself lucky, I've been playing for 3 years, and I've downgraded to this: got to admit though, I have a certain affection for the sound of a crappy old drumkit, much more punk-rock.
That's pretty much the same set I have, except by ludwig.
With a drum key, I don't think you will ever get to the point where you completely kill the tones, I can barely hand tighten my lugs any more with my drum keys. Which is a normal little drum key from Pearl, not a high tension or anything. Also, moved my set around a bit, everything is nearly as flat as possible, I need a higher snare stand though and a higher drum stool. I can play nearly as fast as normal even though I have to raise my hands to get up to the toms from my snare and! I have my toms closer together so between toms I can play faster, although if I could I would lower either my toms, or raise my snare and chair. Stupid bass drums get in the way of lowering my toms. Also, I play much louder on my toms, due to the fact instead of ending the arc of the stick halfway, I end it later, so the sticks have more time to speed up and piss the neighbors off even more.
i don't know about you but i can tune my snare to choke with a drum key, maybe i'm just uber strong. setup sounds much better, i'm lucky that i'm tall so i can raise my snare and throne to match height more with my toms. make sure you don't keep so high that you'll hit the rims more than the heads! i did that for a while.. [editline]06:06PM[/editline]
That's pretty much the same set I have, except by ludwig.
everything thats says "by <big brand>" is utter shit.
everything thats says "by <big brand>" is utter shit.
It's actually not terrible. It just needs more dampening for overtones. I think it's a 1200 dollar kit. I ended up getting it for free so it's good enough. [editline]05:00PM[/editline] You guys would call this an "internal tone control" right? When I was in daddys junky music store I asked if they had them and one of the guys working never heard of them, nor did they sell them.
also thats basically a damping pad, but instead of just attaching it you have to make holes in your drums. i'd suggest moongel, cheap, easy, just little patches, but they work a charm.
1. my snare already has the holes for them but it snapped off 2. I just wanted to know if that's what it's called, since it was odd they didn't know what I was talking about. 3. "2" patches of moongel on my snare and it still overtones.
Tune your resonant head lower. Also, general advice for tuning after looking around. If you have a thick head, whether it be 2ply or whatever, if you tune it extremely tight, it is going to ring like crazy, there is no stopping that, if the resonant head on the bottom is tuned to the same or even higher a bit, the resonant head will still resonate more, objects with more mass once in motion tend to keep in motion. So if you use different heads on a drum, and want them to cancel each other out (I believe this gives it that thud, can't be sure though), tune the thicker head looser, and the thinner head higher. Also, been thinking about taking a tom and converting it into a snare drum. I mean a deep tom too, maybe my Pearl Export 13x11.
Resonant lower you say? I thought snare bottoms were supposed to be tight. Could give it a shot though. I actually spent about 5 or 6 hours today listening to it and it sounds so much better than it did before with the new resonant on it.
Hahaha holy shit. I played with the local college band and about 15 other bands today at Qualcomm stadium and during the KGB lightshow afterwards, they lit the field on fire. The Chargers are gonna be pissed...
It is tuned a bit tight. But it seems no matter how i tune it, loose or tight, or in between, it still does. I have a metal snare and an evans g1 coated head and I think a remo ambassador resonant.
Anyone got any ideas for a decent, not too expensive electric drumming kit? i want to have one around the house, but the neighbours wouldn't like it a lot and acoustics take too much room
...acoustics take too much room.
Not really, depending on the kit of course. My set only takes up about 5 square foot area.
After watching eBay for a couple hours, I have come by a marching snare, cost only 44 dollars with shipping, can't wait for it to get here. If anyone wonders why I would get a marching snare, three reasons. 1. They sound awesome. 2. It was really cheap considering the cost of them normally. 3. Practice playing on.

But as usual, beginner electric kits will be sufficient for you. And depending on the price, second hand would be fine as well.
What? Electric sets take WAY less space than a regular acoustic set.
I can vouch for this, I've got a Roland TD-something in my room, and compared to the original Pearl kit I had, it's tiny.
Well I thought it would be a great idea to do 12 hours on the kit between Saturday and Sunday. Was wrong. Very very wrong.

What brand is it?
Nice. What brand is it?
It is old, not going to lie, but a Leedys one. Bottom head is torn, and its missing a lug. It might arrive tomorrow or on wednesday. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110588208544&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
who here cuts a hole in the front of their bass drum? I don't feel like it's properly mine until I've carved a circular hole into it with my Stanley knife.
What? Electric sets take WAY less space than a regular acoustic set.
My electric takes the same amount of space as my acoustic.
So I was setting up my new Pearl Vision VBX when the middle tom tom dropped out of its holder and fell to the floor tom and from there to the ground... I was so shocked my face was like this for the next 5 minutes: It made a small dent to the shell (like 2mmx2mm and not a deep one) and it pretty much just scraped a bit paint off. I was wondering if this affects to the sound in any way?
who here cuts a hole in the front of their bass drum? I don't feel like it's properly mine until I've carved a circular hole into it with my Stanley knife.
Arn't the bass heads that come with holes in them specially made for the hole?
Arn't the bass heads that come with holes in them specially made for the hole?
Fuck knows, but I need to project my sound forward more, and it makes placing and removing towels much easier.
Actually, you can buy bassdrum reso's with pre-cut holes for better microphone placement. I think both Evans and Remo makes these.
Marching Snare came today, holy crap this is old. This thing is so old that I don't even think they make the lugs for this anymore. Pictures of course. I can't play it due to lack of bottom head.
