$160? What the fuck? I just paid 1000€ for a Vision VBX set.
Drums are more expensive in the UK it appears, unless you go to someone like Premier drums. A championship FFX pearl marching snare is like 700 in the UK.
I have had a hi-hat and a ride all the time I've had drums. Now I got a new drum set and have ordered new cymbals. It's just that it has been 2 months since I've ordered them and that is why my patience is about to end.
It's not that fun to play without a hi-hat and a ride...
Oh I assumed you had high hat since I never consider it part of the cymbals. That really would be where I drew the line and probably stop playing. Apologies for the misguided comment
you guys got any recommendations for sticks? I want to get my brother some as a hint he should drum again, but I dunno what to get him

stick size is kind of a personal thing (heh), does he have any old pairs of sticks for size reference?
I don't think so. all I remember about the last pair I saw him with was that they were red with white acrylic tips, and electrical tape around them cause they had snapped :v:
what's an average size?

ooh, now you're asking, the pair I usually play with are 5B, but I have a pair of 5A's which may be more to the norm. the B's are longer and heavier, that's why I use them . I'd advise going into a sound attak or any music store in fact, tell them his musical preferences (what he likes to play to) and see what they tell you.

Heh. I was already wondering that don't you even have a hi-hat.
Do you just not even play the high hat beats or have a pad on a cymbal stand or something?
Do you just not even play the high hat beats or have a pad on a cymbal stand or something?
The crash and the splash are the only ones I have at the moment. I'll just have to wait till the cymbals arrive, which hopefully will be soon.
Just curious, any Jojo Mayer fans about?
I don't play drums but they're the most fun to play
Just curious, any Jojo Mayer fans about?
Hes talented, I'll give him that. I learned how to do gravity rolls from one of his videos.

Yup.

Those are fantastic. The things he can do with a three-piece kit are really something.

I'm a big fan. Got his dvd, and using his sticks for 2 years now. They are perfect and take a long time to break.

Good to know.

Does anyone own this head or a head like it? I want to buy it for my snare
I'm going to be adding on a new drum to my set, a Pearl FFX Marching Snare. Reason? I absolutely hate a fat snare sound. I love my snare to sound simple and articulate. Like a marching snare. Buying it used for 170ish. I also might apply to the Cavaliers Corp.

Anyway, have some notes.

Going to print that and learn to play it. I can ready a little bit of music notation, the smaller inbetween notes are ghost notes right?
Ooooh. 32nd notes.
And the X should be a rim shot?

The smaller notes are called grace notes. In most of that piece, they indicate flams (although I did write one drag, beat 3 of measure 9).
Most of the x's are shots. The only exception is beat 2 of measure 2, which is a click on the front rim. I should have notated that, but it slipped my mind.

Chops wise, what I wrote is more difficult than that. He plays it with great groove and feel and all that, but it's not exactly a ram. I don't know if the movements around the set are particularly difficult (I'm not a set player), so I figure those might make it more challenging. I don't mean to bash him at all though, he's clearly a great drummer, just playing a completely different style.

Actually, it was just a joke. It's harder to play on a set then a snare/tenor etc.
He has a lot of chops, but plays musically. The hard things are the skin-damp's, flams and other stuff he does.

That's just not true.

That's not remotely easy.

It's diffucult in it's own way, but with sets you use all 4 limbs.
It's diffucult in it's own way, but with sets you use all 4 limbs.
When you're marching tenors you have to use all 4 limbs to. You also have to keep track of where you are on the field.
I need some rock/ thrash metal songs/albums to play the drums to. Any suggestions? The hardest song I can play right now is disposable Heros by metallica. Well actually pretty much the whole master of puppets album except damage Inc.

I'm no drummer but I know some good thrash. Start looking into old school Megadeth or Machine Head.
