Something tells me you don't even know who the Cavaliers are and it took you this long because you had to look them up. Than you had to look up what DCI is, than what a Corps is, than you had to look up what a Marching Band is. All for the sake of a stupid little 12 year old comment.
Right, because you don't remember me ever posting about volunteering with the Cadets this past summer or anything.

Shut the fuck up. All you fucking do is start shit constantly. I have no idea what the fuck your problem is but honestly, I'm fucking sick of seeing you two in a pissing match every 2 fucking pages.
Even is dark is a fucking whiny asshole, which I don't think he is, you don't have the damn maturity to pass up starting something with him\her?

I don't care if you're part of the Blue Devils.
I'm honestly tired of this bullshit over one video where I went off beat. I know I need to work on playing to a metronome.
How about we just start over, we stop being whiny little bitches, because I'm sick of this shit.
But honestly, if you really do volunteer for the Cadets. I know someone who will be going for the cadets named Robert Rochetau. Keep him away from center snare or leadership positions in general. He is center snare player for our marching band and indoor. He will drive not just the other snare players crazy, but anyone who he has control over. Hes a great snare player, but needs to learn restraint with leadership. Our ENTIRE drumline, not just one, or two people, the ENTIRE drumline are tired of him. Our second snare player is not coming back for snare, our tenor player is tried to stick to pit next year but Robert kept begging him to be on tenors next year, and our 4 bass players are getting tired of him.
Tomorrow I'm gonna post a video of me playing on my marching snare, Pearl Championship Maple. Sadly I do not have a carrier for it so I won't be marking time while doing it. My snare stand is to small and too unstable for me to bring it up to waist height.

I kinda doubt some high school kid is going to walk into Cadets and march center snare.

Isn't Cadets only high schoolers?
No, Cadets have a small percentage of high-school aged kids. Most are 18-21.

Not something I could find on their site. Maybe I'll apply to the Cadets this year instead, piss of a little center snare player I know.
Yeah I know my chances aren't so good. But our band director gave us advice for when applying to a corps. Go there just once, if you don't get in the first time go next year. That way they can see how much you improved over last year.
Eh, Cadets isn't a place I'd personally like to go. It was my dream my first few years of High School, but since Augnst left the writing and overall vibe of that line is just completely different. They're still a great line under McNutt, they're just not the same.
Unfortunately, Tom's beats are completely different at Bluestars. They hardly resemble what was going on at Cadets when he was there. The whole vibe that Cadets had pre-2008 is completely gone from Drum Corps now, which is a real shame. He's doing great things at Stars now, but it's just different.
McNutt didn't quite pull off anything amazing in this year's show. After watching them practice a shitload of times, I came to realize that while they were a tight line, but nothing exactly exciting was going on for them. And that's part of the reason why they placed 5th.
Frankly, I think the writing this past summer was just boring. Well executed, but like you said not exciting at all.
If I only have one mic to record with, should I put it on a specific part of the kit, or just in a general location?
use it as a overhead i'd say
Bought myself a shure sm57 mic, the standardized snare-mic on almost every studio-recording ever.

those are definatly the best snare mics ever, i haven't come across a studio where they didn't use it yet
Well I'm completely rearranging my schedule. To get marching snare for indoor percussion I'm gonna spend at least 20 minutes per hour I have free after school practicing some rudiment or anything. Which leaves me with approximately 3.6 hours of practice time, add 45 minutes due to my lunch period and another 10 for the time I waste in computer programming practicing on my pad. Gives me nearly 4.5 hours of practice every day.
The show I had sunday was great! I had people come up to me telling me I killed it! Drummers of other bands along with there guitarists telling me how they love my drumming style and how I'm so creative!, Lol My girlfriend couldn't get over how my feet could move that fast xD
Shouldve brought a camera so we could see this creative playing! When I'm starting gigging again, i'm gonna bring a camera so I can see how I play gigs. It's good practice!

I know nothing much about drums, but I know that my drummer says the rhythm in the chorus is pretty hard.
1 more day until Blue Stars auditions. Can't wait!
Does anyone know if say taping a weight to the back of of my marching snare sticks is a viable way to get my left hand up to speed quicker? Because right now, my left hand is all that's holding me back for traditional grip. If I can just get it up my right hand's speed I would be able to play so much better for my double and triple strokes.
Does anyone know where to get bulk cymbals? I see Nicko McBrain and stuff having 18'' and 20'' crashes, all I can find are cymbal kits that have 14'' hat, 16'' crash and 20'' ride... Noone sells individual cymbals here

I believe Nicko uses Paiste. So your best bet, would to ask your store if they are a Paiste dealer (they might be a Paiste Dealer, a Sabian dealer, a Zildjian dealer, a Meinl dealer, but any good store will at least be a dealer of one of these or most of first 3.) you can ask them to order a cymbal from the company for you. They sell them, you just need to order them. I believe shipping is free also.

Weights dont help. What you can do is buy heavier sticks. Theres no quick way to good technique, only hard practice.
Haha oh wow. Today our center snare player went off for Cadets auditions. Our band teacher loves him so much that hes letting him take a SCHOOL marching snare and stand to play on while there. If anyone else at my school had tried to do this our teacher would of said no.
Anyone have any experiance with zildjian's customer service in the area of replacing cracked cymbals? I heard they usually replace them but I want to know if anyone here has had to.
This thread died eh? I'll resurrect it with this new drum-vid. I'm going to record a demo with my jazz/funk-band this weekend, so hopefully my cold will be gone and it will be great.

If I work on my flams the center snare player thinks I have a good chance of making snare line for indoor percussion. Specifically, when I do a flam and than switch hands the hand that started above the other tries to go back up to that height while the other also goes up to that height.

That's a pretty cool style you got going on there.
Push-Pull technique is crazy weird. I've got it down in my right hand, but I can't do it that fast yet.
Can you maybe post an example of where it is used in a song?
