I'd say rest until all is gone. Better safe than sorry.
If i went out and bought a drum stool, how much would I expect to pay for something that is decent?
I think around the same price as a good snare stand or cymbal stand. Maybe a bit more.
Well how much do those cost? I got my kit for free so I didn't buy any of that stuff.
I got a cheap big beat seat on my electric kit, but if you're gonna spend a lot of time behind the kit, it's crucial to have a good seat.
Hopefully I'm getting close to buying a new set of cymbals. But of course you can't just expect them to hang in the air magically (if only!)
What do you guys rec. for cymbal stands?
I was looking at these (http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sound-Percussion-Double-Boom-Cymbal-Stands-2pack?sku=580304)becasue they seemed like a good buy at 50 bucks based on reviews.
Its looks like if everything goes as planned, my purchase for cymbals, stand, new tom head, bass head, and bass patch will be 325 USD

I got a PDP cymbal stand, I hang a 22" Ride and a 14" dark crash on it. I got it for 15 dollars. For stands I will always recommend you go used. Guitar Center isn't going to sell you a stand that doesn't work. That "We aren't liable" doesn't work if they sell you a stand that they know has any faulty parts, and as long as you check it out before you buy it you have very little to lose. Go to your nearest guitar center, or whoever accepts used equipment and check out how much their stands cost.
Has anyone used Evans Hybrid Snare head? I have one on my snare its GREAT.

horrible stands, really horrible.
pearl 900 series gives you the best value, but as said before go used!
Has anyone used Evans Hybrid Snare head? I have one on my snare its GREAT.
Yep, got one too, they're great. Told my school to use them, and as payback, they said I can use their drum kit whenever I want. Only person in the school allowed to do that!
Has anyone used Evans Hybrid Snare head? I have one on my snare its GREAT.
Are we thinking the same Evans hybrid? When I think Evans Hybrid I'm thinking of Evan's gray marching snare heads.
I am a idiot, tuned the resonant head on my marching snare, realized the part on the rim where the snare wires cross was facing the wrong way. Detuned it, tuned it with the rim in the right direction. Realized drum shell snare beds are facing the wrong way.
I had to retune the head because I had to take it off to take off the drum wrap and put on my snare drum mount attachment.
horrible stands, really horrible.

Yeah I'll have to try used. I can't afford to spend 50 bucks a stand really.
What's bad about them specifically? Majority of the people seem to think it's a good product for the money. I'm not looking for anything with a shitload of features.
[editline]24th December 2010[/editline]
Out of 64 reviews only 2 have less than 4 stars. Almost all for 4 or 5's.
If it isn't great as a boom I'll use them as straight, I really don't give a fuck. (That is if the boom is what you are talking about)
Also the resonant on my snare, which had a hole in it (half of it is now gone) is still on my snare, and it sounds fucking great. It sounds really fat and low. I love it.
Getting a low price kit for christmas, anything important I should be aware of? Or any exercises/techniques I might need to know I guess would help too.
I got new cymbals and a new drum throne for christmas! A Paiste Alpha 20" Metal Ride, and a B8 Pro China. The China is likely to get returned and replaced with a better one.

Don't be a fucking moron like me. Sit at the right height.
Have you played before?
Holy shit. I got a sabian AAX xplosion 14 inch crash. Thing sounds godly. Gotta get something to mount to my existing stand so I can use it though. Any suggestions?
It's such a shame I can't afford to get all AAX for the rest of my cymbals that I need to buy.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Pearl-CH70-Cymbal-Holder-100280025-i1140394.gc
yes? no? Its to hold the 14 inch crash
Does somebody here got nice piccolo snare samples or videos? I only can find about 3-4 good ones on youtube but they just don't show how nice they can sound! Would be lovely to show me some!
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Pearl-CH70-Cymbal-Holder-100280025-i1140394.gc

i wouldn't hold a crash off that, a splash at most.
also whats horrible about the sound percussions stands is that they're really poor metal, they will actually bend, also the locks are shite, meaning that at all times your cymbals will be slowely lowering, and it will give you the chance of them coming down at random moments.

Don't go for specific lines of Cymbals, match cymbals to the ones you already have. You can use lines to help sort of guide you to what sound you want, but remember to try and match cymbals together. Two of the same line of cymbals and exact same name won't sound the same.
Due to space, noise and money issues i'm only allowed an electric kit :saddowns:

£500 :psyboom:
Pictures make it look ugly as fuck, however it's much nicer in real life :downs: The sound for the rock setting is so nice and you can set it to double bass pedals :v: Sadly the low tom turns into a cowbell then but hey ho..
The mesh head is absolutely amazing, feels very similar to an acoustic snare and you can do really nice buzz rolls on it. Very compact too (Which is good for space saving issues I guess, so whether it's a good or a bad factor is up to you)
I've had lessons since October, yet i'm already on grade 5 :buddy: I have been able to play drums for about 2 years now however it was messing around maybe once a week on the crap kit at school. I have improved so much after getting lessons and getting my own kit, I am so proud of myself :3:
Self taught for all the songs I learn though, managed to get one of them absolutely perfect just by ear :v:

Get into a band ASAP, it was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I have made amazing friends, raised lots of money for charity and boosted my confidence tenfold playing onstage. It seems scary at first but after the first time you get used to it :v: Try and get audience interaction too lulul
Kit I want;

My friend has it, sexy as fuck :3:
Hope to get an acoustic asap,
Okay so I am definitley going for sabian. I can't afford AAX's or HHX's at all so those series are out of the question entirely. What are sabian's midrange series? (xs20 right?)
Also: Yes or no on these PDP 700 stands? I know PDP makes good stuff and majority of the reviews on the 700's are good.
If the xs20's are the midrange, I will probably get a set of 13 inch hats, and then a 16 inch crash (which totals out to 285) and then the pdp700 stands, which is about 70 bucks, and then as I get money I'll add on more cymbals. Ultimately I make my choice monday after talking to guitar center guy though.
By the way, I appreciate everyone tolerating and helping me with all the questions and other stupid shit I post. It's great that I can come here and expect reliable opinions on drum equipment whenever I need one.
Sweet, got a hi-hat tambourine from my brother for christmas! Wanted one for a while, essential for one of my bands songs, definitely. We had to add in on the recording, but it wasn't the same sound. This one will be great. Nice and chunky
What should I get for a China cymbal? I was looking at getting a 16" Wuhan, but I've seen mixed reviews on it.

Playing this thing for 2 years.
Also bought 4th lower tom.
Planning to buy supar-elite second bass drum

You should go out and try the cymbals before you buy them. Especially from Wuhan. From what I've heard Wuhan can range from. Holy shit awesome to worse than B8 bad.

That's the problem. The nearest store that has drum stuff is a Guitar Center that is 2 hours away. I have never seen a Wuhan in there, plus I can't go there too often. That means I must order online.
I'll just leave this here...

Not mine, my band's drummer's. But god is it amazing. It's a Pearl Master's Custom, back from when they were actually custom. Can't remember the specs for the kit. Cymbals are all Zildjian A and K Customs. Forget if these specifics are right but I think it's (from far left):
18" K Custom Hybrid china
18" A Custom Fast crash
12" Oriental china
20" K Custom Session ride
17" K Custom Dark crash
10" K Custom Hybrid splash
16" A Custom Fast crash
14" A Custom EFX
14" K Custom hi-hats (ZHTs in the photo, he upgraded)
It was awesome to see him build this beast up over the past 5 years or so
So i was offered one of these for free...

Yamaha DTX550K
uncle of mine and my cousin are clearing their warehouse, and since he has about 10 drum kits inside, he gave me that one, worth about 1300 euros, left bass pedal is broken but that can be fixed

I've got a roland equivalent of that stocked away, I can't remember the exact name but it was around the same price, only without the double pedal.
Ach, can't wait for Christmas and such to be over, so I can play with my bands again. We came 5th place in the local demo competition(ironically, the one who won worked for the paper that hosted the competition).

i took the gamble of getting an 18" wuhan china online but it sounds great and i don't regret the purchase at all.
