i took the gamble of getting an 18" wuhan china online but it sounds great and i don't regret the purchase at all.
getting a wuhan is a great gamble, quality control is very poor in the wuhan factory (i've seen some pictures of a guy that went to the factory, and they're just lying on the floor everywhere.) some are GREAT, some will tear your ears apart. it's the best to play them before you buy of course, so you know wich one you have. i guess you could always make a trash stack with them otherwise.
Yeah, you definitely don't want a bad china. I played a gig and the drummer for the band under us had a china that honestly... sounded like a spring being hit. It wasn't very nice, but he said it was essential.
The arm holding my 13" tom just broke. You know, those ones where they stick out of the bass drum. Is there a specific size that I need to get depending on my kit or is it one size fits all?

How did it break? Those things seem pretty indestructible to me. And I'm sure you probably just want to match the diameter of the pipes that go into the bass and tom with that of the ones that broke.

I'm not too good at explaining, so bear with me.
The arm sticks straight up out of the bass drum. Then there is this clamp joint thing that you can adjust to a good angle so the tom is right. This clamp joint thing wouldn't tighten, so I went to inspect it. I completely loosened it. When I did, this spring went flying out of it and I couldn't find it. Now it won't tighten at all. That is how it broke.
I replaced my B8 Pro china. With a AAX 17" China.
Long Story Short: It sounds like a fucking angel.

Never mind, found the spring and noticed that the threads in the wing nut were stripped, so I got a new wing nut.

Sick as hell.
thats fuckin' A
Drummers who incorporate marimbas and the like into their kit are beyond badass.
Reminds me of Terry Bozzio.

I meant the video Bitsponge posted.
First successful drum roll yesterday. Yay for me. I also pick up my XS20 hats and crash at guitar center on Wednesday.
Also for a bit of a conversation starter, which do you guys prefer for gear, daddy's junky or guitar center (or maybe a small mom and pop joint)?

oh well. sorry
Haha oh wow. From now on I have to sleep to a metronome at 110 BPM. Center Snare Player (Who has constantly been told just as much as I have that he rushes, difference is its usually our indoor teacher telling him hes rushing) keeps saying I'm rushing so hes making me sleep to a metronome.
or just don't sleep to it and tell him that you do because it won't do shit for you
or just don't sleep to it and tell him that you do because it won't do shit for you
This. Practicing to a metronome and learning to understand space will help you. Having the good doc destroying your ears every night will not.
I liked this kinda of drumming.. have a listen.

Gah my bass head broke yesterday! I was just doing some double pedal stuff and then the right pedal got stuck to the floor and I looked down and it had gone right through :(

same thing happened to me, i know the head was starting to tear, so i bought a new one, but i decided to keep playing with the old one until the shit hit the fan because my new head didn't arrive yet.
after some hours practice, bam right trough.
I remember when I did that. At first I was disappointed because I didn't have a replacement, then I just cracked up.
Gah, discovered something extremely weird. I start 16 note flamaddidle fills on my right but end on my left, but start paraddidles on my right and end on the right hand. Really had my mind going "wut" when going to hit my china at the end.
Hey babies. Check out my high professional stuff here.
Da main drum with something like a snare sound (1) and something like a tom sound (2). Made by 2 bolts unscrewed in the cover a bit. 2nd place is also used as a hat.

Da ride cymbal. (sounds totally not like a symbal)

And wow, man, a leg! Used instead of bass drum, second used instead of hat. (heel stomping all the ways, baby)

These sticks cost more than the whole instrument alltogether (including me) - $4

Now that's gangsta.
(I don't know how I play or train on them but I do.)
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
And yes we "don't" have a money or place for normal drums so I play this piece of shit.
Anyone trained for fast double bass like lars ulrich does here?
When training do your tendons get sore (more or less for future ref to make sure I don't re-injure myself)>
Also, supreme, i thought you played that yamaha kit?

Well that truly shows how much you want to play drums. Keep it up!

I can't imagine training like Lars to be that hard, if just because he is terribly overrated and can no longer perform most of the best Metallica songs.
I would instead look up to - just from my perspective - a drummer more like Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart, Jason Rullo, or Casey Grillo.

Nope. That was self-irony.

For fast double bass, you'd want Tim Waterson, or George Kollias.
For groovy double bass I'd use the ones you mentioned.
