Our cadence if anyone really cares. Our drum tech wrote it, and our drum tech marched for Blue Coats back in the day, I think he still teaches for them sometimes too. Not 100% sure on that last part though.
I love the bass rolls around 46
Cool bass line, the snares are kind of dirty though. It's okay, our line is too sometimes.
Here's a video of our marching band show at a competition(first place in percussion!). The show starts at 2:30. It starts off with a percussion feature, so I thought this thread would be appropriate. The other drum feature is at 8:20.

While we're throwing around videos: Here's our indoor show from last year. We were better this year, but there aren't any videos online.

Annnnnd, here's the line I'll be marching with this summer:

Woah, I wish my schools drumline was that big, right now our parade band is so small we're forced to take people from middle schools in order to keep it up to size.

Heh, it's gonna be a lot smaller after I graduate. The junior class has 13 percussionists.
Quality > size
Agreed 100%.
Our band was about 120 people this year, but we constantly get compliments on our sound.

We get a big dark sound for being so small. Also, disregard the other videos on youtube, they sound like crap because the digital cameras just rape the sound.
I am a senior sadly, as our band is still growing. We nearly tripled size over the course of 4-5 years. 4-5 Years ago the band was around 40 members.
I am going to Troy University, which is freaking insane! One of the best bands in the Southern United States.

The fanfare starts at 1:05. At least watch the fanfare. Jizz.
And to keep it on topic, I'm rooming with a drummer, so I picked up some sticks and I'm gonna learn to play a little bit of snare. Yup. And oh yeah, I play tuba if anyone really cares. But if given the opportunity to march bass drum for one year, I would take it!

Your junior class's percussionist is the size of our pit and drumline combined...

Your going to kill him halfway through the year because drummers can't stop tapping.

Long bus rides with them, I am friends with the drummers and I'm learning it. :v: I am becoming one of the tappers.
whats a good head combo for good rock toms? i was gonna give Ulrich's combo of clear pinstripe tops and coated ambassador bottoms (which is what i think he used on his granstar in the 80s, which is the kit im in love with and his 90s kit )
it seems to bring a good sound on the kit he uses. of course im not expecting the same sound since my kit is way lower end than his, but should i be able to expect something similar?
don't use coated heads as reso, thats just a bad idea, it will sound too dead.
once again i reccomend emperor clear over ambassador clear, it's just beautiful.
maby pinstripes clear over ambassador for slightly heavier sound.
bottom line, don't use coated or multi layered heads as reso.
i actually have emporer clear over ambassador clear. (except on floor, ambass on ambass)
ill try pinstripes for batter next.
whats the verdict on clear vs coated? i tried both but i wasnt really into my tone when i had coated on, and just wanted my kit to work.
[editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
the thing is i want my toms to sound like this
http://soundcloud.com/robneal17/abc-10 and i cant seem to get that with the heads i have

My stave cherry shell is now glued and put together, tomorrow I shall begin sanding it down to a circle.
awesome, i love stave snares.
The double bass in this song is sheer insanity

Man, i aint visited this thread in 5 months, my computer was broke, anyway im back now, and in like 1 month ill be the proud owner of a new 'leccy drumkit, to be fair it'll be like 300 quid, but a new kit nonetheless :D
Talent show today. My future roommate for college played around on his drumset for about 5 minutes.
Tomorrow or wednesday the cherry wood I bought to make a stave cherry snare should get here. I plan on sanding it down completely by hand, bearing edges and interior.
OMG OMG, HE pLAYS 1000 bpm doubles on bass triggers, umg umg. Seriously, what's with the fixation on insane double-bass speeds? It's gotten to a point where it's no longer musical..
I liked that :D , how longs he been playing?
Since he was about 12. He's 19 now. He's going to grow up to be an insane musician.
My cherry shell is now sanded down to about 3/8ths of a inch thick, the router hiccuped however and a gouge nearly punched a hole into the shell from the bearing edge to a 4th of the way down the shell.

Panama City, Florida. Yeah, pretty far away! haha

That just shows that you don't really like death metal. Speed is an important factor in death metal. And that song has it. It takes skill to play that fast even if it is with triggers (Actually it has to be with triggers or else it wouldn't sound that good).
And who are you to judge that it's not musical? It's just your opinion, not a fact. Someone likes complicated drumming and someone likes fast drumming. Both require skill nevertheless.
Also, Jan Axel Blomberg (The drummer in the video.) is overall a pretty respected drummer...
I hate people who say that fast music is not musical and requires no skill, just because they don't like it...
Also, not sure if this has been posted yet but it's so awesome that you can watch it again if you've seen it before:

Eh, I know who Hellhammer is and I didn't say it doesn't take skill. I'm a Norwegian for christs sake!
I started listening to Death and Black-metall when I started drumming; Cadaver, Emperor, Deicide, 1342, Panzer Christ, the fastest(Hell, I still listen to Meshuggah even though it's more math metal).
Then I realized it's not about speed, but the music and the musical ideas. I know it fits the music and all, but you guy's seem like "speed is the best thing in drumming". You never post any videos about grooving and musical drumming, just "OMG speed". It seems you like the sheer physical aspect of playing fast instead of anything else(like some kind of sport). What's the use of playing like a machine, when a machine can do it for you? In context in can be cool, but in the long run, it does go stale.

Well it based on your earlier post it seemed that you don't have absolutely any respect for fast drumming.
Most of my posted videos are death metal videos, because that's the genre I listen to the most. I don't listen to jazz that much, so I don't find good grooving drum videos that often. I know speed isn't everything. I respect jazz drummers the most, because I know it's one of the hardest genres to play. Hell, I don't think I can play any good sounding jazzy stuff myself even though it would be awesome, but I'm keeping the speed and double bass stuff as my primary goal.
But I do love to see jazz played live. A couple of months ago there was a jazz drummer evening which I attender. It was very awesome!
And I think here are at least a couple of people who are interested in the fast stuff too, so I guess it's not that bad if I keep posting the videos?
Also, my 8" tom STILL HASN'T ARRIVED GOD DAMN IT! Well it's ok... It has been only 8 months since the order... I called them and they said it should take about a month more... And that was 5 weeks ago.
Ok, that's your choice and I respect that. I'm on a mission you see, to make more drummers seek out groove and feeling, since I think drumming is becoming more and more like a sport.

Ok, cool.
Also, I see you have the TD-9 drum module. How do you like it so far?
I'm thinking to get this set when I move to my own apartment:
http://www.thomann.de/fi/roland_td_9k2_v_drum_mesh_set.htm
I tried it in a local store and I think it was pretty good. At least a LOT better than the TD-4 my friend has.
