I have the old Td9, with rubber-toms. It's one of my best investments, since I'm out of a practice-room at the moment. I recommend getting a midi-to-usb cable and Superior Drummer 2.0(and a recording program), if you want to record some drums. They sound really good together.

Although it will be a while before I can move out. I have to go to the army in July and it will last about 9 months. Well I'm glad it's possible to play drums in the army at free time, so I won't be completely without practice.
My new picollo snare is mostly complete. Needs a new strainer which I just ordered, the one from my old snare did not fit.
Also, my 8" tom STILL HASN'T ARRIVED GOD DAMN IT! Well it's ok... It has been only 8 months since the order... I called them and they said it should take about a month more... And that was 5 weeks ago.
unless i was specificly told the order would take 8 months, i would never order from whoever you ordered from again.
Those who disagreed didn't watch till 3:43...
Fuck me hows that possible lmfao

I'm in progress of making a percussion ensemble/on field warm-up for my high school. Right now it's just a joke though. Made with Sibelius and Virtual Drumline.
I'm learning snare. I want to learn it mostly as a hobby as I am friends with many drummers, so it's nice to be able to fit into the typical conversation more often. I am also learning it because I plan on being a band director, and one of my fears is that I may have to start out at a small school with no fund or connections for a drumline instructor and I would like to at least be able to teach students if I absolutely have to. Also there are many benefits such as rhythm interpretation and the such that I will learn. (interpretation, not counting. I can count just fine) Any recommendations on pads? All of our drummers use Invaders, but I'm about ready to drop $60 on a pad yet. Our pit is full of a bunch of clowns (good kind), they would fucking die over this. The whole Friday song is a joke. One day we were just chillin in the band room putting up music in class, and our BD hooked up Friday to the PA just to piss everyone off and laughed as he walked into his office.

Invader is the only pad you'll want or ever need, and it's worth the money,
The Invader is awesome. But if you want a pad that's almost as good without breaking the bank, Vic First Slimpads are great.
Will I need to buy the laminat with it?
Will I need to buy the laminat with it?
The laminate is optional for the slimpad. It's personal preference. It gives you a more marching snare feel, but it is significantly louder.
You definitely don't need to buy a laminate with it, but it's nice to have. It's changes the feel of the pad pretty nicely. I know some guys who cut the laminate in half, so that they have the option of using the rubber or mylar surfaces. For $7, you mind as well get it. Also, the slim pad is light as hell. I have an invader, and I recently bought the slimpad because I wanted something lighter for tour. Bill Bachman totally suckered me into buying one in Dayton, haha.
I'm learning snare.
you ever played with a full kit? (curious)
Kit sounds like shit, i look like shit and fat as fuck, didnt use toms enough etc etc. This is me with 8 months of practice making grindcore in my friends garage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytTgWCXpdEo
you ever played with a full kit? (curious)
No, I don't have the money or access to one as I will be at college soon. I would have no place to keep one, and I don't know how the percussion players would feel with me being in their studio as a tuba player, playing on their stuff. haha

At my school, we have a drumset practice room, generally only percussionists are allowed in however if you're friends with the percussionists they'll likely not mind. Especially if you know how to play at least remotely well. Just remember to ask permission.
I'm looking at getting a Wuhan 18" China. Y/N?
Found my practice pad. The only difference is mine is black and doesn't have the sound wedge attachment. 13'' Special neoprene surface and hard rubber rim so you don't go messing up your sticks and a baltic birch wood base for real resonance. All for $32? Yes please.
Do want!
I'm looking at getting a Wuhan 18" China. Y/N?
fucking yes i have a 16 inch and for how cheap it is there is absolutely no way to go wrong
Yeah, I really wanted the 16", but they are all sold out. :smith: I might just get an 18" and a 14" since they're so cheap.

The rubber surface doesn't provide nearly the same quality feel as similarly priced pads from Vic Firth. It's also not nearly as articulate. The rubber rim seems nice, but it's more of a gimmick than anything. There's no real use for a rim on a pad.

I'm just going for the standard black one with a neoprene surface. I know each color is a difference surface. Are they really that bad? They're on backorder, so I could cancel the order.

The red and blue pads were exceptionally awful. They're marketed as "workout" pads, but I never saw the logic behind practice tools like that. The black, graphic, and quad pads all felt pretty 'dead' compared to anything else I've ever used.

[editline]26th April 2011[/editline] oh yeah uh i was told that the stuff on the shell, the color stuff, was removable (like the toms shown above, and on my kit, where the slight overlap of the material is apparent). where do you buy different colors of it ?>
