Even if I assumed you we're 24 that would only be 3 dollars a day you would need to earn to get a decent kit by the time you were 25... Also, if anyone lives in the Washington D.C. area, in Winchester, Virginia, there's going to be a parade I'm marching in. I'll end up being the snare left of center snare.
We marched in the Chicago parade, I was marching tuba though.

The bass drums look pretty cool too.

Well, said parade in Virginia was fun. I ended up being center snare because our center snare player forgot his uniform. Parade felt like torture though, we ended up holding our drums for an entire 3 hours before actually marching. And when we actually marched me and the tenor player barely made it.

You would think that would be on your check list before you go to a parade.. Snare? Check. Sticks? Check Uniform? Check Off to the parade.
...Center snare forgot his uniform? What the fuck? You would think that would be on your check list before you go to a parade.. Snare? Check. Sticks? Check Uniform? Check Off to the parade.
It was checked off on the list when we loaded the trailer, which means that one of the band boosters should have loaded it. We also loaded the wrong set of plumes for our shakos. And in other news, my cherry snare broke. The joints between the sections of wood failed and it is now out of round, out of levelness on the bearing edge, and structurally unstable. I think the batter head is now the only thing holding it in place.
Our boosters don't take care of loading, the percussion and tuba section, and the vice president do it here. Also, if we travel anywhere to do a parade, we get on the bus in our bibbers and carry our jackets with us onto the bus. All that space taken up by uniforms is pointless in my opinion. This way you make sure nobody loses their uniform. If the parade is local, we just meet at the location in our uniforms. This just ensures that problems like that don't happen. Edit: Actually, I take half of this back, on long trips we do load our unforms under the bus, but everyone individually walks up and drops it off under the bus. This is for long trips, usually away games, when we stop at a mall to eat and change.
We don't have enough room on our bus for uniforms and people. Not to mention we have a trailer. And every band member carries their uniform and shako out to the trailer, which makes it really odd. It got crossed off, meaning that our center snare had to carry it out to the trailer and have handed it to them.
That is really weird then. Never recovered?
I don't know. I think it was. Was really odd though. Was kind of scary to march without him, usually he is always there, when we mess up hes the guy we time back into. We also had to play one of our cadences that we both the other snare player and me suck at. We have this weird entrance, where we start on the off beat, however the basses and tenors play something on the upbeat. So we sound off when we start. We nearly always end up messing it up. Also my hands kept freezing up whenever I tried to play the sextuplet paradiddlediddles in it. Was really annoying. Suprisingly I did really good on our marching tune. Hardly ever messed up except near the end of the parade where I couldn't find the energy to play the sixteenth notes.

Just keep practicing, you'll get there. Just keep in mind that you never know when your center wont be there. Someone has to step up and take the lead when this happens, which gets you browny points for when you go out for section leader. On a different note, anyone here going to the Atlanta DCI Southeaster Championships? A friend and I are going, just trying to find a ride with one of our parents.

I just realized I have bruises on my knees where they hit my drum. And I can't lift my shoulders, how do snare players for DCI groups carry their drums all day for practice?

Something tells me that shouldn't be happening to you though, regardless. Then again I don't march snare.

I hate to think what the first rehearsals are like.
Think of it in Florida. 100% humidity, 100 degrees outside. :v: [editline]1st May 2011[/editline] Which makes it feel like 120, 125.
minnemann had much more potential.
okay that's a completely legitimate reason right here everyone has potential. that doesn't change what you can do.
Imagine in Texas, where it likely actually is 120 degrees.
Dry heat mayne. Yeah, it's still hot, but not anywhere as bad as a wet heat.
This is why if I join a DCI group, Cadets. They aren't located in the hottest states in the US.
Good idea, haha. There are benefits to marching in locations that are hot as fuck. Our band, we march on blacktop as a practice field, in the middle of July, during the hottest time of the day. In Florida. We can march anywhere else, on anything else. We use this shitty drivers ed parking lot.
For those of you who know, how hard is it to make rack for a WGI indoor group? What should I know how to play?
okay that's a completely legitimate reason right here everyone has potential. that doesn't change what you can do.
no, not everyone has potential. i didn't feel like goin into detail, but basically mangini acted like a massive kiss-ass, minnemann had this genuine fun while playing overall i think he's a much more innovative drummer that would do dream theater much more good than mangini. (therefore more potential)
