Are only Americans meant to do this?
I have to say, I thought both polls were okay. More freedom in choices would be nice.
There's no neither option?
You don't think gun ownership should be regulated at all? So someone in the midst of a psychotic episode should be able to turn up at a gun store, buy a gun, and walk out, no questions asked? What about someone currently out on bail for domestic abuse? There are plenty of situations where not regulating gun ownership is beyond the stupidities of even the most rabid pro-gun zealots and someone has to be the regulator. I don't know why you're making a political platform out of that question since you likely already feel that either the state or federal government should be the one doing this regulating.
Are only Americans meant to do this?
If you've lived in the U.S. or had experience with the laws, I guess you could answer it. Thanks for all the info guys. I definitely missed a lot especially the answers. And although I can't change it and redo it, all the critique gave me a ton of info on what I could have done better. Many of the issues from this thread I'll write about in a self-reflection. At this point it's pretty much OK to close the thread.

Don't turn this into a gun debate thread.
Done - have fun with data. Give us some of your measurements if possible. You may also want to have a country / state / location question - and a single pole - so you can correlate more pieces of information.
Questions are too broad and do not accurately reflect my views.
I think you missed the point. Don't turn this into a gun debate thread.
You're the one who turned an innocent question into a political platform
You're the one who turned an innocent question into a political platform
What the fuck are you talking about?
You're the one who turned an innocent question into a political platform
He mentioned that one view was being unrepresented. In a poll it's important to represent all viewpoints. You're the one that started with the politics.
Is the question about a physiological test supposed to be psychological?
Poorly made survey, but I did it. I.E "do you think it should be harder to get guns" I'd say yes, but you'd probably assume I think overall, but I think that you need to do the paperwork at gun shows, but that's all I'd say for the harder to get guns thing.
I felt that some questions should have had more answers. Like above, the what do you use a gun for. I use it for home protection, and recreational and sport shooting. Religion should include agnostic. Unless you have vulgar material than I do not see a problem. [editline]29th March 2013[/editline]
Is the question about a physiological test supposed to be psychological?
Yea it should be, physiological tests would be something you take to see if you can play a sport or something. A physical basically.
Yea it should be, physiological tests would be something you take to see if you can play a sport or something. A physical basically.
Precisely why I answered no. Why do we need a doctor to grab our ballsack to verify we can own a gun? :v:
Precisely why I answered no. Why do we need a doctor to grab our ballsack to verify we can own a gun? :v:
To prove strength and manliness. Only real men can have guns.
Precisely why I answered no. Why do we need a doctor to grab our ballsack to verify we can own a gun? :v:
I believe a simple background check is all they need to verify whether or not your fit to own a gun or not. Like for instance they give a regular 25 year old man a gun and he just wants to protect himself with it, two months before that the guy just got released from a loony bin because he was mentally unstable and had many other mental conditions that weren't considered serious unless he had a gun then he wouldnt be considered a threat. I believe stuff like that happens all the time. Psycho gets a hold of a gun and he goes to shoot up a mall or do whatever revengeful act of valor he thinks he is doing. Then after that they look into how he even got a gun and all he had to do was go to shooting practice a few times a week then this psycho path has the power of everyones lives around him. Basically what my arguement is trying to prove is anyone that has had any physical or violent run in with the law or has been in and out of mental facililtys should NOT be able to even handle a gun, EVER!
A storm is brewing in here, it's the classic debate that goes nowhere. it's everyone's favorite!
Harder is a bad way to word, more thorough makes sense? What are you suggesting, intentional bureaucracy to slow the process down of obtaining a gun?
