Welcome to the internet.
I'm acting like a sociopath and people are calling me out what is this?! PC Culture!!! SJWs!!! [t]http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-bahgawd.gif[/t]
You can make a joke but surprise people might think it's tasteless!
Unfortunately, the PC Police ruined a perfectly good thread.
Nice job, folks. Nicely done.
This is like reading the YouTube comments section that Facepunchers despise so much.

how can you tell there wasn't anyone cracking a joke about 9/11 after it happened
ebola jokes spread through the internet quickly just like the disease itself during the outbreak
After the explosive revenue for Transformers 4 by China, more like Bootleg Michael Bay! :v:
[sp]I'm sorry, China.:([/sp]

You really remind me of that South Park episode where they were joking about AIDS and that they were all relieved that AIDS happened X years ago so somehow now it is considered funny.

"China's Tianjin explosion finally declared funny after 2 years"
(Who's bodies aren't even cold) .
I see what you did there.
Seriously though, when making jokes like this, I say fair cop if someone gets upset. Not gonna apologize, but I'm not going to act like the fun police showed up if I was being deliberately edgy
laugh at the video all you want but on a public forum don't be surprised if people call you out on it
it works both ways too as proven by this thread
I found this video terribly unfunny and idiotic but I'm just gonna sit back and use ratings instead of going loud on it because it's pretty clear that this is a battle not worth fighting because as always it's gonna end up in pages of debate that leads to a couple of bans, new hate relationships, name calling and just generally shitcakes with shit topping, pissing in a sea of piss etc etc
it's the endless circle that is facepunch and that's why I love it but I prefer to watch if you get my drift
Personally I, who have a very dark humour, who doesn't really feel like joking about this yet, have already seen countless jokes about this and I didn't bat an eye. I certainly didn't go tell people to fucking stop making jokes. There is a subjective line for this: some cross it immediately, some like me do it after a while, some never do it. Is it hard to simply move on without trying to be no-fun cops?
Say what you want about "how long do I have to wait to find this funny", but just keep in mind this event only happened TWO DAYS ago.
Humor gets your mind off the grim aspect of the explosion. Laughter is the best medicine for this kinda stuff.
When it involves death, it's sadistic. The term "too soon?" is even in itself offensive. People died, have some respect.
I don't know. Laughing has always made things easier for me to cry less. I can understand why that doesn't apply to everyone else, though.
When it involves death, it's sadistic. The term "too soon?" is even in itself offensive. People died, have some respect.
But some of the best humour is offensive. As long as it has some thought and effort put into it, it can be very, very funny to offend people.
i have my rights to laugh
you get offended by something if you want to get offended by it
what no that's not how it works at all lol
The thing is, everyone has their own humor. Especially on the internet a very large portion (like shown here on FP) like dark humor and so do i. I frankly laugh about these situations, not because of what happened but of the content made from it. Dark humor is really tedious and hard to explain.
Point is, that you can't understand does not mean you have to go around telling people to shut up because its not funny because you don't think its funny.
I'm pretty sure people who watched the original will laugh, I did too.
Anyway why should we cry over human incompetency, why is there's a fucking bomb warehouse in the middle of a city? It make no damn sense, the people who made that mistake will be punished hard.
Is it hard to simply move on without trying to be no-fun cops?
People had opinions and voiced them, but yeah they should feel terribly sorry for hurting your fragile feelings by disagreeing with you
that's what they said about 9/11
yeah and 9/11 didn't even happen in the middle of communism
Why do all these fringe people who look for excuses (like this video) to strenghten their identity as "Knights of the Moral Values" even POST in threads like these? Just to annoy the rest of us? I repeat, if you don't like it, don't watch it. Don't comment on it. Just move along.
Is that really so hard to comprehend?!
lmao
if you don't like the comments, don't read them? is that so hard to comprehend??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
what the hell is up with this stupid attitude as of lately, "you're only allowed to post if you agree with me, otherwise you can just shut up!!!"

To be fair once the Ebola outbreak reached the news it didn't take long for shit like Ebola-chan to surface.

which was also fucked and completely retarded
i remember when people joked about that australian shooter everyone flipped their shit
I think we set a new record for creating the most toxic thread imaginable in the shortest amount of time.

I'm pretty sure that those who find the video hilarious weren't agressive towards those who don't like it. And I'm also pretty sure that thos who find the video hilarious didn't turn the thread into a "this video is bad, and you should feel bad" shitstorm.
You can go on believing whatever you want to believe. But don't play the victim because none of us did anything wrong.
If laughing my ass off at dark humor is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

Yeah, his name was Thomas McGuiness, he used to fly F-14s and he took the flight because it was near his birthday. I didn't know him since I was 2 years old when he died, but I knew his siblings and his mother.
Before or after the plane was taken over?
Before.
i'm not going to police myself to not find horrible things funny if it doesn't affect anyone else. i dislike myself enough already. the goodness of a person shouldn't be decided by what they do by their lonesome that doesn't affect others. it should be decided by how they treat others. i don't go around telling people offended by things that they're pussies, and if i posted something that legitimately offended someone (and i'm not talking you being upset by the harshness of the joke, i mean people who were involved in this tragedy or knew somebody who suffered due to it), i'd apologize, and maybe delete the post in question out of good faith. that's what should determine if the person making the joke is a good person: their willingness to accept blame if they truly hurt someone else.
however, i'd never apologize to someone acting like a white knight over a joke that has nothing to do with them. they weren't upset by the joke because it brought back horrible memories in them, they were upset because they believe it's amoral. a white knight isn't a good person for policing other peoples' senses of humor. they aren't doing it out of kindness to victims of the tragedies being joked about, they are doing it because they feel they have the moral high ground. they don't help anyone or anything other than their own egos.
by all means, post about how you thought the joke sucked, or it wasn't funny. it's an internet forum and it's your right. just don't go after the people who find it funny. the only person gaining something from that is you.
this isn't even like laughing about dead people. it's funny because of the disconnect between his reaction and what is actually happening (and it makes me think pf that fireworks video which was funny as fuck). that plus the context with it being in china and a fireworks factory
this is not like laughing at a decapitation video because you're a sociopath or because you're le edgy. and even then being a whiteknight about it would be just as insufferable because as the guy above me said: people only do that shit to sit on a moral high horse and feel good about themselves. none of you actually feel that fucking bad for a single soul lost there.
people die every second and it's OK to not feel bad about it.
Funfact, in my police training we were actually told that if any colleague of ours got through a hard situation like dealing with a suicide situation or a car accident we should then make jokes either about the situation or something else regarding it to loosen the person up.
It is extremely effective.
