I don't know much about turntables but those seem pretty swish for £100! Nice one :) Agreed a million times over aswell, when you're monitoring it...the moment you realize it's gunna double, oh my days! It looks like I'm getting my turntables back, my mate never uses them so she wants to give them back, can't say I'm bothered! I can't wait to rinse out on vinyl again, I learnt on vinyl then got good(ish) on cdjs so I wanna see how well I can smash it on vinyl really looking forward to getting them back! Just put together a mix, I got really disheartened that whenever I record it sounds like absolute shit compared to when I'm just mixing not giving a fuck, got a gig coming up my first one so my rationale was that if my recordings is going to be anything like my live mixing I'm going to trainwreck it....to try and prove myself wrong I smashed through a neuro mix giving it all I've got..enjoy! Has anyone here ever used a Numark Mixdeck Express? http://www.numark.com/product/mixdeckexpress I just got a Pioneer DJM - 3000 for free, but the problem is I don't have any CDJs, and I plan on using Serato over Traktor. This has 2 decks, and a low price point, which is why I was thinking about it.

it is a sick mashup where can i download this
Nope never seen a 1210 die, I've seen traktor die more times than I can count while watching people play at gigs and it's upto the djs to sort themselves out as best they can while swapping setups throughout the night and these guys have new macs and are playing on 1210s.. I've tried timecode vinyl round a mates on his 1210 setup honestly I loved it but like I said I wouldn't play out on it because my laptop, freezes every 5-10 minutes for a couple of seconds and I just find cds less hassle to play with. Though everything I said as you've pointed out is mostly the point of the lack of tech guys and fuckups by the djs. I understand the points your making man but each to his own and for now I enjoy using cds, I'm not saying I won't go down the timecode route in the future but now, I can chuck a cd wallet in my bag, have it there all the time and rock up somewhere and play a few tunes, can't afford another laptop and two cdjs are cheaper than that! I appreciate the advice and I'll definitely DEFINITELY take the dedicated laptop idea into hand when I go timecode. I'll have a mix up later :) Dark/Techy Dnb
https://shop.digitec.ch/de/technics-sl-1210-m5g-plattenspieler-schwarz-dj-player-224943?pcscpId=8&gclid=COeczdPdmbMCFYJP3god8mEA0w that price :suicide:
Can anybody recommend any decent CDJs?
Can anybody recommend any decent CDJs?
I'm just going to recommend anything by Pioneer, only if you have the money. The reason I'm saying this; 1) Easy to use - it has a simple layout, and is club standard. 2) Great build quality 3) Excellent JogWheel/Platter System 4) Multiple Media Playback Options (USB, CD, MIDI) There are different models, all with pros and cons. Where I DJ at, we have 850s and 900s. 850s are decently prized, and are much more better than the 350s. However, the screen on the 850 isn't as good as the screens on the 900s or 2000s. If you want veer away from Pioneer, take a look at Reloop's RMP-3's. I have a pair of those at home, they're good for the price, have a decent feel, is midi compatible. However, the display system is shit, only displaying one line, with the song search and file browsing hard to use, which is why I hooked it up to traktor, since it's much easier.
just found this mix, made it a year ago according to sound cloud. [editline]26th October 2012[/editline] haha shit it's only 22 mins long, didn't notice that, oh well have a listen if you like! darkish/jumpup drum and bass if that's your thing.
Sick mix, I'm not sure if you ARE doing this my speakers tend to push out too much bass and make it sound muddy anyway but always have one bass on and the other fully off, unless you're blending into a drop or you have basses that are set apart from eachother or you know theres no low frequencies that are going to muddy up the "live" tune. It just sounds so much more crisp, I can't properly pick out the seperate tunes when you've got two running because it sounds a bit muddy apart from that it's spot on just work on your eqing though everything I'm saying might just be because of my speakers, they push out stupid amounts of muddy bass that doesn't even sound good. Made a mashup today, was messing around and got this double drop so I went back and recorded it..what do you think? https://dl.dropbox.com/u/66141962/MASHup%21.mp3 I know computation has been done a million times but with this skullcrack vip it sounded good I think :)
What do you DJ guys think of this song? Im not a DJ myself. I make my own stuff. Would be cool if one of you would try to mix this up with something :downs:

So this is just a simple mash up of Kill Everybody and Guettastep, this is pretty much my first attempt at using VirtualDJ seriously, but I thought they went together well. I'd like feedback if at all possible.

Alright guys I am trying to get into DJing (I am a big time noob so please dont be kill me) but I am having hard time deciding what I should use. I've toyed around with Traktor at my friends place and liked it, but after reading about deckadance I see I can run it as a vsti, does Traktor have something like that I also read that Deckadance is able to use 3rd party effect plug-ins can, does Traktor have anything like that?

The only effects you should be using (in a non-performance setting) are delay, maybe a beatmasher if you're feeling edgy, maybe reverb. I wouldn't recommend buying turntables and a mixer because that's still expensive as fuck especially for someone just starting out (I also have bias being a digital DJ). Don't get caught in the sync trap, be sure you know how to beatmatch.
I wouldn't recommend buying turntables and a mixer because that's still expensive as fuck especially for someone just starting out
No matter what this guy says, if you have the money and you are sure you want to become a DJ, go for DVS. I started out on a kontrol s4, now I'm using 2 turntables and a mixer as DVS and I can tell you, the feeling is so much better. Most clubs around my place have both turntables and CDJs and look down on the use of controllers. But using a controller to start out also had it's advantages: the kontrol s4 (or any controller really) behaves pretty much like a CDJ. I had to play my first club gig on CDJs and serato (even tho I normally use traktor) because I forgot to take my needles with me, and it only took me 10 minutes to adapt and then I rocked the crowd. My point is, make sure that you can rock a crowd on anything if necessary, DJing is an artform, it's not really about the gear you use, it's about you, your skill and your creativity. If you are on a low budget, go for something like a mixtrack pro, if not get used Technics asap, they're getting more and more expensive. Also in terms of software, don't bother with stuff like virtual dj or deckadance, use the industry standard being either serato or traktor.
Buy a set of cheap turntables plus a 2 channel mixer and learn how to DJ before using software [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] goes for you too buddy!
Well actually I've been looking at controllers, what kind of set-up would you recommend for starting up? EDIT: I've been looking at controllers and pads instead of turn tables because I can't see myself ever using them properly, at least not for now. Seems a bit flashy.
Seems a bit flashy.
I think you've got those mixed up
I'm starting to get into a bit of amateur dj'ing (laptop + virtualdj, sine I'm not yet ready to spend money for a decent kit) as a hobby, but I've never really been able to get any feedback besides Youtube comments - which, let's face it, aren't exactly good C&C. Could someone take a listen to this mix (it's one of my newer ones, mainstream house mostly with fairly laidback/slow transitions.) and tell me what in particular I need to improve / what (if any) I'm doing well so far?
I only listened to the first 2 transitions, it's mostly basic auto synced intro - outro mixing, nothing much to say really, as you can't pull of crazy stuff with nothing but a laptop and software. also why is Virtualdj so common amongst newcomers, why not just get traktor? Also, Disseminate, may I ask what gear you use? edit: wow yeah VDJ basic is free, sorry for being dumb.
