Does anyone have a place to grab acapellas?
There's a T-Swift song I want the acapella from.
hey cool a dj thread
i would take a picture of my setup, but i'm at the wrong house
its pretty measly, one gemini pt 2000 turntable and a little 2 channel gemini mixer

I've been mostly doing some turntableism, scratching and such, no mixing as of yet, until I have money and space for another turntable
Get an S4, you can run your turntables through it and straight into Traktor without a seperate soundcard. Comes with Scratch Pro for free too.
I was considering it, however the Denon has some features that are making me lean towards it. Such as the ability to use it as a stand alone mixer. But the $350~ saving really is tempting, aha.
800mk2s have dropped in price, very happy. Going to pick another one up in the next two weeks.
I got my vinyl turntables back but one of them has had the RCA connector and ground ripped out the back, tried soldering it but it won't ground. So I need to replace that... Should I save up for a Technic or just replace it? (Numark TT-1520) Then do what I've done with my CDjs, just upgrade the other one when I've got the money!
Moving my room around in a month or so, Gunna have room to build a two tier shelf unit. Gunna have two turntables on the bottom with the mixer and two cdjs on top, definitely take a picture when it's done!
I want a four channel mixer aswell..want to start practicing three deck mixing. Need so much gearrr! >:
HOLY SHIT BALLS! Just got offered my first set at a big club in Bristol called Lakota, one of Bristols most legendary clubs and at one of the biggest nights it runs! 30 minute set to prove myself, I'm gunna shake the floorboards!
If you're going to save up for a new turntable you could probably get something just as good, if not better than a Technics for roughly the same price. Technics are great, I love mine, but there are better turntables out there now, and you would probably save quite a bit on just replacing your old one which will come in handy if you want to invest on a 4 channel mixer. If you can get one for a nice price then definitely snatch it up, they're well built and you'll definitely get a bit of respect for keeping it oldskool :v:
DJing is a fucking expensive hobby haha, I've had to take up extra shifts at work to be able to buy a new digital mixer, not to mention I need a new laptop, probably a new soundcard, replace my Stanton, get new monitors, and the list goes on. If I didn't spend all my money on gear I could probably afford to get a home loan.

Yeah but it's fun, it's a hobby, and it's music.
most importantly it's music.

Never said it wasn't worth it :v:
are there any tables currently being produced that can compete with technics 1200s?
even to get them used on craigslist it's like $400 for one which is a bit nutty because they're out of production, but there must be someone who stepped up to take their place and started producing top-shelf tables for turntablism/djing? i've heard audio technica lp120s are actually really nice but do they compare to 1200s? stanton st-150s seem really nice as well but for their price i could just get a used 1200.
1210
[editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
but srsly yeah loads of turntables are better these days. check out high end vestax etc.

I've only heard good things about Numarks high end turntables too.
Just been offered an hour long set at a local pirate radio station, however it's like an hour or two long bus/train ride there, and I'm not keen to carry crates of records that far haha. I could use a digital set up but they don't normally have laptops set-up so I'm going to need to get one to bring.
Unless I just wing it with their CDJ's, but this would be my first proper set and I'd like to be comfortable with the gear I'm using.

Traktor, minus a PC? Sounds pretty neat.
That'd be a dream come true, if affordable. It'd be nice if they released a Z4 or something too.
Also is there any way to record mixes at a lower bit-rate in Traktor?

Borrow a laptop man, I take it you're on vinyl but wanna use timecode for this gig. It's worth taking the extra measure to ensure you're as comfortable as possible if it's your first set there, wanna make a good impression!
buttt....If you can spin vinyl then CDJ's will be a breeze, I'd only recommend it if you've used CDJs before though and are comfortable with how the jogwheel works. It's alright to know how it works in theory but feeling the pitch manipulation takes a tiny bit of getting used to!
Also, I hate myself. Every time I just jump on my decks and don't hit record.. magic happens... >:
Bit worried about my set in the new year, I've pretty much exhausted all my material on promo mixes..they were nescessary to get me this set but I'm splitting hairs trying to figure out what to throw into my mix!
just recieved one of these so i can use monitoring headphones since my controller doesn't have a soundcard in it. been learning to beatmatch by ear.
it's a bit tricky, especially seeing as i have a knob for pitch control rather than a slider; but im getting the hang of it pretty quickly

Was actually planning on using just a digital controller, since I plan on getting an S4 soon I'm not really interested in also shelling out a few hundred dollars for a Traktor soundcard to take. The most experience I've had with CDJ's is playing around with display models and what-not too.
Also with the recording, I've just taken up a habit of hitting record every time I start a mix, which is why being able to lower to bit-rate at which Traktor records would be great :v:
This was my first shot at mixing Deep House https://soundcloud.com/gorza/deep-house-mix
I have a Gemini CDJ-600 and Behringer DDM4000 (shut up, it's actually pretty nice). I'll probably lose the Gemini and switch to Numark NDX900s or a Denon CDJ. Are there any other non-Pioneer CDJs I should look for?
I wouldn't go for anything other than Pioneer for CDJs. They've pretty much have gotten hold of the CDJ market, and their products are just plain awesome, albeit they're expensive, well worth the price in my opinion. But Reloop's players are a good alternative.

in my opinion pioneers are the apple of the djing world.

Something doesn't become so industry standard that it's in pretty much every club in the world that has a DJ setup for no reason.
I would like a pair of Pioneers, but I don't have that kind of money right now. I think at this point Pioneer is trading on their name, especially with their lower-end and midrage products-the CDJ-2000NXS is brilliant but the CDJ-350 costs an average of $600 and doesn't offer much. That's why I'm asking about other brands. I was looking at the Stanton CMP 800 or the Numark NDX900. I'd prefer something that could play off USB and i would also like cue point memory.
you buy cheap, you buy twice
I just cannot afford a pair of Pioneers right now, I have other things i need to spend money on. Whatever I end up getting is temporary until I can--probably a couple months until I can start working more. Besides, i doubt every non-pioneer cd player is shitty.
Buy a used 400 setup, then go on to the 2000 / 900.
I started out buying a 350 which lasted me for about a year, now I'm sitting on a 2000 / 900.

The S4 has an internal soundcard.
Found a pair of CDJ-400s on ebay for $150 each, I'm going to try to go after them but if it doesn't work out, I'm gonna look for something else.
Hey guys, here's a progressive house/trance, aka my love letter to Oliver Smith with a few additional tracks. Let me know what you think.
