The S4 has an internal soundcard.
Yeah I think I just worded that incorrectly.
check out the new pioneer wifi eq :D
WHYYY WHYYY
I'll only buy it if it has a wi-fi sync button as well
pioneer mixer with wifi sound connections and runs with no electricity at all. Impressive! it's probably powered by the guy's douchebaggery btw sick inaudible scratches. Gotta check them silent scratching techniques.
I finally got a picture of my set up [img_thumb]http://catchmypicture.com/NE1rzS.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://catchmypicture.com/JTEtAP.jpg[/IMG_thumb] It's pretty god damn ghetto. The most expensive thing on there is my m44-7 cartridge. But it skratches almost as good as any sl-1200.

Wow, how does one get to that point/get started? How long does it take before you get actual gigs? [editline]16th December 2012[/editline] Links/guides appreciated
Loads of practice, marketing yourself, etc. It'll help to know some friends that'll stick behind you - ie. that you can bring to your night - because it makes the promoter happier to hire you. Offer your services to the bar owner, maybe arrange a 'test night' where you DJ pro bono so they can see how good of a DJ you are. Essentially, people don't come to you, you have to go to people.
How long does it take before you get actual gigs? Links/guides appreciated
that depends entirely on you. I'll be playing with a guy next week that has been a bedroom DJ for 13 years and is having his first gig. It took me a little less than a year to step into the clubs, have been djing for 2 years on total now. As you can see, it varies a lot but you can get there quickly if you are ambitious.
Blagged playing out on a club system for half an hour in preparation for my first gig in Jan. Don't know what I was worried about. It is AWESOME. The raw feels when you smash the fader up and FEEL the tune come in..absolutely sick. Cannot wait to play out now. Partied like mad that night to my friends djing when it started properly.. got a lift home and thought the party was over for the night, so I drank quarter of a bottle of rum and drunk called some girl, she told me there was a free party going on but the police had shut it down..cut to half an hour later, the police turned a blind eye to me going in, jumped over some barbed wire fences, saw a load of mates. Got rocked in the face by some bellend and had a great time! Found two 800mk2s and a mixer for £300 on gumtree, have been emailing back and forth but I'm pretty sure they are trying to scam me :( I knew it was too cheap to be true! The promoter for the gig on the 26th just told me that if I smash the second room, I can open the main room. SO GASSED!
A big aspect of getting gigs, is just knowing people. Put yourself out there as a DJ (but know what your musical responsibilities are). As a hip-hop DJ, I feel that my job is a lot harder than a house/dance DJ, strictly because of how hard it is to move a crowd that didn't come to dance. Play good music, have clean mixes, and make yourself available.
Hardwell's coming on tour to my city and there's an opening set DJ competition for fresh faced DJs to open for him, but there are at least 15 better DJs than I here, and I'm nervous. I kind of want to enter but I'm pretty sure I'd get slammed into the ground. What do you even do in a DJing competition like this? Mix tracks for 15 minutes? Submit a short mix? Maybe one or two people actually have turntables, so it's not going to be DMC-esque with people showing off their technical skill or F1 users making live remixes of shit.
Seriously, if you have no idea what to do, show off the best of yourself. Show him some tricks, ect. You don't have to be the best if he likes you/what you do. Be different.

Slapped a mix up on a Facebook DJ comp against a load of people thinking I'd have no chance but thought fuck it, why not..bloody won! 4th of Jan! No gigs at all then two in one month :O I don't know if I'm getting paid for either but I couldn't care less, at the moment playing on a beefy system to a crowd is good enough for meeeee! All you've gotta do is put yourself out there and let the music speak for itself! For the guy asking about getting gigs, it's taken me two years of mixing, one of them quite lazy like half an hour to an hour a day and then one year doing like 2-3 hours a day. Lots of promo mixes on soundcloud sending them to friends and shit, lots of going to gigs and chatting to promoters and trying to get involved in promotion myself. Next step for me is production I feel. Oh and digging for tunes every single day doesn't hurt. haha^^
anyone got any recommendations for a 4channel mixer? not behringer. i've had 3 of the djx series mixers and they've all fucked up. they're fucking wank. skint, can spend about £150. obviously gonna buy used, i hate numark stuff, it'd like a vestax if possible. but if there's anyhting of similar quality... [editline]27th December 2012[/editline] been looking at a vestax VMC-185XL, right price but missing a channel. bit tricky to find one too. gemini stuff is ok in my experience, anything else? [editline]27th December 2012[/editline] basically, i just want a djm800 clone. but of good quality [editline]27th December 2012[/editline] seriously never buy a djx700 or whatever. EVERY SINGLE ONE WILL BREAK i know of at least 10 of these in mixer heaven. i don't know what the fuck they make them out of, chewing gum? inner tubes? wood? it's odd because every behringer amp i've used has been nice.
Finally got a novation twitch for christmas. I haven't been out of the house since, i swear i've been more or less glued to this thing. Now if only i could figure out how to properly beatgrid.

Mapped my newly acquired Novation Launchpad to traktor, it now displays the levels of both decks:
Mapped my newly acquired Novation Launchpad to traktor, it now displays the levels of both decks:
Haha that's sweet! I wonder if Deckadance would ever support that? I'm not really a fan of Tracktor.
Haha that's sweet! I wonder if Deckadance would ever support that? I'm not really a fan of Tracktor.
Well if it supports the output of a level as a midi value, you can map each button to light up if that value hits a certain range (i.e. the bottom on lights up if the level is above 0.01, and the top one lights up if the level is between 0.874-1)
Anybody here use Mixed in Key? Wondering if it's worth the money.
Anybody here use Mixed in Key? Wondering if it's worth the money.
Definitely, it analyses very accurately (haven't had problems) and mass-renames any part of the music file to include key information. Wonderful to mix knowing the key of every track, your mixes will certainly sound much better after analyzing with mixed in key..
Hey guys, new pic of my new setup [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/WPLMj.jpg[/img_thumb] Transfered my shit to a place on my desk, next to my computer. Still just the one turntable for now, but Now I can scratch and record it onto my computer! I don't have my mixer set up yet either. (yes, that is a mission impossible VHS holding my turntable up) [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ntNox.jpg[/img_thumb][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/uExasl.jpg[/img_thumb] shot of my the whole thing, my lovely little JBLs and all, and my absolute monster speaker cables.
