Sorted it now! I'll post a mix when I've done a decent one
Man,
I havent made any mix for years that I think I forgot how to manually beatmatch by ear.
Might finally get my first so called gig this year. Its no nightclub gig, just as an invited guest for some event.
Might be able to pick up a pair Technics Sl-1210Mk2 for about 500GBP. But I'll have to find some cheap used timecodes cause I haven't got any. Yay or nay?
[editline]s[/editline]
Decided not to after getting a quote of 650GBP after shipping.
Some whore I know wants to be a dj. Her brother basically hooked her up with that gear.

Why do so many DJs and artists use Macbooks for their shows? What makes them better than other laptops for live performance?
artists are all hipsters

I use Logic Pro for studio stuff and just hate ASIO drivers. That's my reasoning.

I met Will Sparks last night.

From what I've seen/heard, less messing around with drivers and they're actually pretty sturdy. Not just cheap plastic like a lot of other laptops.
Here's a little future bass/dubstep/garage/trap mix I did (Got instantly taken down from Soundcloud due to copyright again..)

I like it! Great transitions!

My first attempt at dj-ing on virtual dj. I don't have any controllers or anything so everything doesn't really transition great.

Just followed your soundcloud. Keep up with the jams!
I'm pissed. I have a retina Macbook Pro and there's no line in. The last generation at least let you use the headphone jack as a line in. So I've been looking at this so I can stream my mixes. And my local Guitar Center has a pair of monitors for $120 that I need once I get my tax return.
Has anyone here done a silent disco before? I've just been booked to do a 2 & half hour at my uni bar for an 80's themed prom night.
Everyone should come check out the website www.mixify.com. DJ's are playing all day everyday. Live! Some even do live video! You can check me out on there as well when I'm streaming (DJ KC) and other known guys on the site like Bass Action, DJ Rico, Moehawk, Juliet Star, AJ, Bangers 4 Hype, Manic Pulse, Jon6oy, Mikey Malone. That's just naming a few. They even have famous DJ's come on every once in a while and spin. Like recently they just had GTA. They've had knife party before and Henrix, Deniz Koyu, Tritonal, Charlie Darker, etc. People can fan you and hype up your sets as you're playing. Chat with people in the rooms you are in. You can even record up to 4 hours of your set! The site is fucking awesome and has an overall great community!
PS: There are Android and iOS apps for the site as well!
If you DJ come on to the website and spin sometime! I'd like to hear you guys spin! Keep an eye out for me when I'm playing too! I'll post links in here when I am! and Wooo I broke top 100 people on the site! Ranked (86) :D
Ill post pics of my equipment later :)
Yeah, they had Knife Party in there until there were so many people that servers were unresponsive and nobody could listen and they baled to turntable.fm.
But unless you're a megastar, Mixify's fucking awesome. My friend Sonic Breakbeat occasionally'll stream there.

Nobody there really likes Knife Party tho cause as soon as shit went wrong.. Which im pretty sure it wasn't on mixify's end they went to twitter and started talking shit about the people and website. so everyone is always like Fuck Knife Party! lol. I mean when featured people play like GTA earlier this week he had over 100 people listening in
Well I'd be pretty pissed too if I was holding a huge event for a site and nobody could listen because of server troubles.
It was definitely on Mixify's end too, I was there. You couldn't stay connected to the room.
Oh yuck a silent disco?!
Isn't that when people wear the wireless headphones and the music goes right to them?
Did they have those in the 80s? o.o
I just wish I knew how to use my Kaossilator Pro, KP3, MicroKorg XL, and APC40 together with Ableton in the most efficient way. I have too much equipment for being this under-experienced.
Yeah, I keep buying shit because I can get good prices on it. I sold my Microkorg for a graphics card a few years back. I think that was a really good decision because a graphics card is something I can actually use regularly.
Use the Kaossilator and KP3 for messing around live. Use the Microkorg as a synth to create patches then sample them into Ableton. Then use the APC for live Ableton performances!
