How are you liking the Ergo? I saw a review for it once but just thought it looked too much like a toy - does it work well? Any complaints?
If anyone has any questions about more advanced DJ'ing techniques, such as scratching, trick mixing, etc., let me know. I'll do some short tutorial videos.
Been having a dilemma lately. Either to sell my turntables for a digital DJ setup.
Or expand and get a time coded setup.
I'm just a home hobbyist but can't hurt to dream big right?
I've had my Numark Mixdeck for awhile. And I can't seem to find a program that works well with it. Everyone says Tracktor 2. But when I try to scratch or search to a certain part it always glides past. And my levels are always way to high. Can anyone give me a rough idea what I'm doing wrong?
I use to use VDj and it didn't work well with my Mixdeck
Are you using TSP2 or just TP2?
Turn down your gain?
Are you using TSP2 or just TP2?

TP2
And even turning down my gain on my controller and my main recording gain doesn't seem to help.
Traktor Pro 2 doesn't have scratch support as far as I know - only jogwheels. You'll have to upgrade to Traktor Scratch Pro 2 to get support for it.
As for your levels I have no idea.

Okay, well thanks. I think I'll just have to crank all the levels down. Maybe that'll work.

Get Serato.
Keep your turntables and get a used SL1/2. If you get rid of your gear, you'll regret it later.
Getting comfortable with Serato, and having your own vinyl/cd's with the interface means you can literally DJ anywhere. EVERY club I've spun at that already has a digital system in place, is Serato based. Whether it's the SL1/2/3/4, 57SL mixer, or the Sity-one/two; If they have a setup in place, it's going to be Serato.
The benefit of owning the box, and keeping your gear, is you can go to ANY CLUB ANYWHERE and DJ. The club has shit or no turntables, no problem, bring yours. The club doesn't have a Serato interface, no problem, bring yours. The club uses Traktor (Finalscratch, etc.), no problem, bring your interface.

Alright then, but I do plan to upgrade my old turntable. Kinda starting to regret no buying the Sl1200 Mk2 (I believe) when I saw a pair selling for just $200.

What is your current setup? Mixer and all.
What is your current setup? Mixer and all.
Currently is just a couple of Gemini TT02 and a Behringer VMX 100 I got third hand for about $150.
But its not what you can exactly call reliable though. One of the turntable is not working, the mixer only works sometime and sometimes it does not.
That's what I get for being cheap I guess :v:
Brand new mix for everyone to enjoy - it's dirty dutch.

So i've reached a dilemma. I've been using virtual dj with a mouse and keyboard for a good 6 or 7 months or so, and I think it might just be time for me to buy my first controller. I've narrowed it down to two, with the neumark mixtrack, and the Hercules dj control steel. Both cost around the same used, but I can't tell which would be better. Any thoughts?
All the hercules turntable controller devices i've used have been pretty awful, I'd go with the numark one with a copy of Serato

Yeah, the Hercules controllers are bad - my first controller was a vestax - and was worth its price, however, the software used for it is Virtual DJ - which I don't mind.
Also, I made a brand new mix!

I made a Traktor 2 mapping for the M-Audio Trigger Finger I just got. Highly recommend it if you can find one in good shape. My current DJ/production setup is a Mixtrack Pro (soon to be replaced, possibly by a Kontrol S2 or a Denon MC3000) a Numark DJ/io for production work, and the Trigger Finger.
Is anyone else pissed that NI isn't supporting 3rd party controllers for the Remix Decks at launch?
Do they still make trigger fingers?
And yeah, I'm pissed. I wanted to remap my Hercules P.O.S. to just use the buttons on it so I could make some ~sweet loops~.

Haven't seen those in a while!
I want to get started with digital DJing (i have no hardware) and just for time sake, which of these softwares should I be looking at?

If not these, then maybe suggest one for me? Thanks:)
Serato!

Do you need a deck for Serato?

Nah, they got discontinued in 2007. I picked one up on eBay for $110, missing one fader cap (which I just replaced with some different ones). I decided against the MPD32 after seeing how many big touring acts (The Glitch Mob, Bassnectar, Skrillex etc) were using them and also I liked the layout better.

Serato (both Intro and Itch) doesn't work without a controller. Grab VDJ home for now, it's fine unless you want a controller.

Get the Mixtrack for sure. However you either need to get the Pro version, or get a separate audio interface (sound card).
I'd advise against Serato unless you want to do some scratching/turntablism. Use VDJ.
djay is way, way too simple.
A suggestion for when you have the budget is Traktor but it's not the be-all end-all of software and some people prefer VDJ to Traktor.
Ableton Live is another one to consider but the learning curve is more of a learning cliff. I still haven't figured out how to use it.
It's important to note that when someone says "Serato" they might be referring to any one of three pieces of software.
Serato DJ Intro is a basic, 2 deck DJ software that comes with some controllers.
Serato Itch is more advanced and has up to 4 decks with some extra effects and things. It works only with a certain set of controllers.
Serato Scratch Live is for timecode/DVS on actual turntables/CDJs, which is what I think Disseminate was referring to?
I'm talking about all 3. The Serato softwares in my personal opinion don't hold straws to VDJ or Traktor, and their single strong suit is in timecode.
Serato Itch and DJ intro don't support timecode. Their gimmick is simplicity and ease of use, at the cost of customizability. I know a few people that prefer Itch to Traktor, but I agree with you. There's no real point, you can just not mess with Traktor's settings and be fine usually. The only thing Serato has that I like is the parallel waveforms.
guys i want to dj really dj not pushing buttons to play music what should i buy
