Has anyone here done a silent disco before? I've just been booked to do a 2 & half hour at my uni bar for an 80's themed prom night.
I did one at this event my dad put on. Was quite fun just playing well-known party shit for a change.

i made this instrumental the other day and decided to remix it with everyday struggle, some of the acapella is out of sync and i think i overdid the scratching a bit.
i made a video, too

Welp, I seem to be getting a new e-mail every week from Soundcloud about copyright issues. I guess it's just all the more reason to use Mixcloud.
Anyway, here's a dubstep mix wot I just went & did http://www.mixcloud.com/Gorza/haute-sub-mix-220413/

I've already hit my three strikes, goodbye soundcloud account :(

Went round a mates and had a go on his Vinyl setup.. after a few beers I got confident enough to start using the third deck! I kept messing it up and losing the mix completely but he just said "Keep trying man, it'll click..." After two hours I was kinda getting it but i was burnt out... Went out flyering and then ended up at a house party with guess what.. Three decks!..
After uncounted beers and other party treats I stepped up at this house party and tried to spin x2 traktor vinyl and a CDJ.. MY GOD SO MUCH FUN! I'm never going back.. I even found a way to link up a third deck at home going into the soundcard on my computer with a seperate set of speakers (I only have a two channel mixer).. No headphone cue..no eq but it's great for practice!
If you find yourself mixing on two decks and standing there thinking "Hmm..I feel like I should be doing something.."
BUY A THIRD DECK!

I can't tell because it was recorded on a rock, but is it not even plugged in...? Shouldn't there be more than a single rca?

Hi, Never posted here before since I didn't knew FP had a DJ thread.
Anyway, Lately I've been working on a 3D uhmm... well I don't really have a name for it yet so just take a look at what is is below (All realtime btw not rendered)

Since I haven't really decided where I want to go with this project I wanted to ask you guys how much interest you would have in something like this where you can DJ and people could join in on you.

this already exists via turntable.fm and plug.dj or w/e
its a cool project but theres no reason for anyone to download a UDK client just to listen to music tbh
I want to get better at DJing and DJ in Second Life. I love Second Life clubs.

I would love to get involved in this project but alas, I'm a Unity guy..
However if the server can translate a DMX or ArtNet stream into lighting commands for the client then the lighting technician in me will get a boner and a huge desire to help test it.
Can anybody help me with Traktor?
I have a 128bpm song and a 110bpm one.
I have the 110 playing, and I press the sync button on the 128 to make it 110. I then press play on the 128 (which is now 110) one and immediatly turn off sync.
Now, I press sync on the original 110 track so it switches sync roles. So whenever i'll move the pitchbend of the 128 (now 110) one back to 128, it moves both at the same time.
The problem is, i can't sync an already playing deck to the other playing deck. This shit sucks, it should be possible with same BPMs in both decks.
I cannot fucking properly transition on beats then, i'll be stuck with other shitty methods.
[editline]30th April 2013[/editline]
what i mean is, the original 110 track that is already playing can't be synced to the same fucking 110 bpm that the 128 track now has. fml

Yeah I've thought about being able to control lights with a DMX panel, That would be fucking amazing but I don't have the knowledge to do such a thing.

Use the BPM fader manually and adjust the phrasing using jogwheels/pitch bends. Beatmatching with readouts isn't nearly as hard as manual beatmatching - it should take you about one second to change the BPM fader and maybe 5-15 seconds to line them up perfectly, maybe less given that you have a phrase alignment above the waveform.
what are some essential DJs to listen to? i'm really interested in turntablism and stuff like daft punk's "alive 2007" where they take multiple songs and make them into something new
Check out Boiler Room on youtube. They do live streams and recordings of a lot of good DJs so you can actually see how they perform their sets. My favourite's are Ta-ku's Los angeles set and Richie Hawtins one in Amsterdam, the latter actually helped introduce using Maschine into my sets as a step sequencer. Also check out the XLR8 podcast, they have some great mixes too.
Silent Disco was fucking awesome!

Sup DJ brothers, I'm thinking of buying a new pair of headphones, I'm thinking of buying the V Moda M100. What do you guys think of it?
Also have a listen to my UK Dubstep mixtape because hating on Skrillex is the cool thing to do > https://soundcloud.com/electropikal/electropikal-this-is-dubstep

Don't fuck up! ahaha but most of the time they won't even care if you mess up. Just focus on smooth transitions! set up your playlist before hand and practice transitioning from one song to another sprinkle some effects where appropriate and there you have it! Ask around to see what songs people want to hear so you can have them readily available to you. When you transition to a slow song for slow dancing tell everyone you're doing it over the PA while you transition to the song because your voice will distract while you can put on a lower tempo song. I did this for a highschool dance once from only a mixer and virtual dj on a laptop and it went pretty well!

I've heard nothing but good things about that controller, only real issue I can see with it is the pure size. I find my S4 annoying to carry around, I couldn't imagine lugging that thing to gigs unless I had a car or something.
Just finished another tune

Ah I'm just wayy too excited to get it! I'm gonna play with it and throw a mini get together with some of my friends so they can play on it to see if they wanna get one themselves.
I got my main account back! Have a new track and a photo dump! (REDLINE) The nexus 2000's are beautiful.

So a mate convinced me to go back to using Soundcloud as Mixcloud forces people to sign up to listen to mixes. I haven't had any problems with copyright since, safe to say the Soundcloud copyright system is bipolar?
Anyway here's my latest mix. Some Future Bass/House/Dubstep/Whatever
https://soundcloud.com/gorza/future-bass-delight
Did a quick Grime mix, trying to get used to doing faster cuts/fades.
https://soundcloud.com/gorza/bootleg-beatdown
Also I managed to fit both of my turntables and my S4 on my tiny desk and hook it all up to my computer but the turntables are really quiet so I have to pump the gains way up, is there a fix to this or is it normal?

Is the volume the same running through a different mixer?
