• Should Halo have a movie?

I think it deserves a movie, although I think it should not be about the games themselves. In my opinion it would be better to portray the events leading up to the fall of reach, such ass the operations the Spartans took against the rebel colonies and stuff like that. Or maybe have the movie take place during the game period and have it based around someone other than the master chief, say a member of the ODST or even a marine.
im fairly certain the argument is about which games are more realistic
Picky people tend to argue about how unrealistic the games are.
Halo would be butchered to no end, but it would probably sill be worth seeing. But I don't see it happening any time soon.
Yes. It's getting a movie. It's jumped about alot. Infact, all the effects are being done by Weta workshop (King Kong, District 9), and alot of it has been done by Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp (District 9, King Kong, LotR, etc), but after a period of standstill it's been handed over to Stephen Spielberg. So basically, it's gone from awesome to awesome and back again. And really, for all the hate you people give Halo, I never understand it. They're good games, and the books are nice. It's really hypocritical to not like Halo and then spout fanboyism for Firefly and Half-Life when both of those are just as generic and unrealistic as Halo. So really, get off the bandwagon for a minute for long enough to see that this could have some real potential as a film.
I just don't like the games dude. Why do people always assume it's bandwagon?
Because it is when "just not liking it" coincides with the popular opinion. And chances are you got your "own opinion" because of the popular one.
Games are starting to be so advanced they need no movie. Hell. Half-life 2 was so good it felt like a fancy interactive movie that failed to suck.
I'd like them to do something like Band of Brothers just because I think they'd be able to fit more in than a 2 hour movie.
Personally I'm kindof weary about a Halo movie that isn't from Blomkamp. Spielberg can suck it with Indy/shit4 and all 343 has produced is Halo Wars and Legends, neither of which were overwhelmingly impressive.
I just don't like the games dude. Why do people always assume it's bandwagon?
Because it is, generally. Mostly PC gamers. The majority of whom haven't even played the games and take their hate of the community out on the games themselves. That's not to say there aren't those who don't like the games based on actually having played them and judged from that, but the majority of the people...not the case. For instance, several people in this thread outright deny the possibility that Halo should get a movie or that is could be good, without providing anything other than "Halo sucks" and "it's overhyped". These are examples of bandwagoning- having distaste or hate towards anything Halo simply because they've learned to hate Halo itself.
wasnt district 9 made with recycled scraps from a failed halo movie
Blomkamp originally set out to make an adaptation of Halo before District 9 was planned out, but they couldn't get the funds for it together. "Alive in Joburg", one of Blomkamp's short films, is the real basis for District 9.
All video game movies and video games based off movies have sucked FOR ONE REASON! IT'S RUSHED OUT TO FAST! Remember golden eye? You know why it succeeded? Because they took their time with it. If the movie has been under development for a long time then it could possibly be good, but no one has tried taking their time yet.
And put its reputation on the line? I dont think so.

[editline]10:49PM[/editline] The film is still going to be made, but Microsoft is going to sort out some sort of crap first. Here's hoping they are actually looking into rehiring Blomkamp.
I think the original Halo story would make a good movie. Maybe not a GREAT movie, but it would be better than those stupid-ass Transformers movies.
Half-Life is just as generic as Halo
Oh shit I'm getting the fuck outta here
Honestly I think that would be the worst thing possible to make a movie about. The universe is so rich and broad there'd be no problem making a standalone original story that anyone could understand.

I think what needs to happen is a really good producer and director. I mean REALLY GOOD. Get together with some of the best writers and screenplay adapters. Together they tear through the halo books. And create a story from that. I would like to see a little bit of mater chief as a cameo at least because he is the main character in the games. But anyways, they create something original, but while sticking with the halo "lore". THAT would probably come out very good.
Halo is great and all, but no. Not now, not ever.
i thought there was supposed to be one at one point
Tomb raider movie was awesome, and I loved Prince of Persia.
No, too put it simply.
gabe newell as gordon freeman and cortana
Hugh Larry must be the one Free-Man.
While i think that this live action trailer is good, i dont think that halo deserves a movie.
halo likes faux-emotional ads full of bullshit nowhere near as exciting as the actual game.
I thought they canceled it?
They did cuz the Hellboy guy backed out and Peter took over and then he stalled out becuz of tryna get The Hobbit off the ground and then The Hellboy director backed out of that too.So now I think its Speilberg and Peter Jackson. But Peter Jackson mind is on The Hobbit right now and if he can do that
Yes, Halo should totally get a movie. Modern Warfare 2 aswell. Counter-Strike Source too. Reason: :20bux::20bux::20bux::20bux: When the movie producers see how much money there is in it, perhaps they'll choose a good game afterwards, and then make a good movie about it.
