Action games, usually, do NOT make good movies.
I agree. But halo DOES actually have a story to it. Just not a well known one.
If its like the commercials, then hell yes.
Would be nice, but the armor they make for the LIVE trailers always look...plastic..
halo likes faux-emotional ads full of bullshit nowhere near as exciting as the actual game.

If Halo was that exciting, it would be my favorite game.
I think what needs to happen is a really good producer and director. I mean REALLY GOOD. Get together with some of the best writers and screenplay adapters. Together they tear through the halo books. And create a story from that. I would like to see a little bit of mater chief as a cameo at least because he is the main character in the games. But anyways, they create something original, but while sticking with the halo "lore". THAT would probably come out very good.
You just pretty much described the Halo movie of Blomkamp. Except the story part, not sure what the story was going to be. But probably good. (No Chief as main character.)
If the movie was on par in terms of quality with the ODST commercial, yes.

Thats why I was pissed I heard he moved to D9 instead. :eng99:
In theory halo movie could be lots of fun and entertainment.
The problem is, when they make it the producers will only see one thing;

so it's not going to be anything amazing, just a huge crowed pleaser. ...
to that matter, after halo 1 wasn't the hole franchise made for one purpose? $$$$
Not that other gaming companies don't, but you know it's a focus more then others games.
The difference is, is that Bungie cares. So far they have done nothing but improve on the Halo series from the first Halo.
Hopefully microsoft will try to suck halo for all its worth, and make a movie in the process
It'd have to be CGI, and done as well as some of these commercials and it'd need to be based off the novels. I think that the series definitely has the material there for a movie, maybe 4 (No not all sequels, I want to see Contact: Harvest and Ghosts of Onyx).

If you've ever read the novels, you'd see how interesting John-117 really is. In the games he's made out to be invincible and emotionless, but the novels make him out to be more human and intelligent.
I want a romantic comedy about Johnson and the elite from the end of Halo 1.
I'd rather see a Half-Life movie before a Halo movie, to be honest, and I'm a big fan of Halo. There's just something I don't like about the live action stuff, or certain live action videos. Plus, the aliens are ALWAYS up to SOMEONE's artistic interpretation, so they'd end up looking balls-to-the-wall stupid.
Plus, the storylines are a bit worn thin, too. Go watch that "Escape from City 17" video, it's fan-made and just as good as one of those professionally done shorts.

Isn't the goal of every game to get money no matter how crappy it is?

Halo has a poor, unoriginal storyline. I would waaay rather see BioShock or Half Life 2 as a movie.
The problem with a halo movie is that they'd obviously stick something in there for the women that were dragged to see it (like in most movies) such as Cortana X Master Chief or something like that.
NO.
Has anyone seen that phone commercial where they use the Master Chief armor.

Word on the street is Master Chief is sexy. So I guess that would do. Halo does have female fans as well.
I don't understand the Halo hate on these forums, the books are pretty decent, and, while the singleplayer is generally bland on all four installments, the multiplayer is nice.
Only if it was like this one

Woah, Woah, Woah.
Video games should always remain video games and movies should always remain movies.

This is true simply because story is told so differently in the two. In games like Half Life 2, it would be almost impossible to stay true to the story and also have original content unless it was from a different POV. Or something.
It would be pretty interesting to see Half Life 2 from a vortigaunt's point-of-view.
no

Pretty much this. The only real disappointment has been ODST, and that's because it was INTENDED to be a expansion to Halo 3 at a reduced price (since it wasn't a completely new game). Except Microsoft had the brilliant idea of repackaging the entire game with Halo 3 multiplayer and marketing it at full price.
On the subject of video game movies, the Half-Life universe would make a good movie setting. Just get Hugh Laurie to play Freeman for what scenes he's needed in, and it's like automatically awesome.
But really, it wouldn't even have to be about Freeman. Rebels escaping C17 would for just as interesting of a story.
For those unaware, Hugh Laurie is House and if you gave him thick glasses and more goatee, he would look exactly like Freeman.
