• Should Halo have a movie?

If the Halo Movie got made, we wouldn't have had District 9. I think I prefer having District 9.
On the subject of video game movies, the Half-Life universe would make a good movie setting. Just get Hugh Laurie to play Freeman for what scenes he's needed in, and it's like automatically awesome. But really, it wouldn't even have to be about Freeman. Rebels escaping C17 would for just as interesting of a story. For those unaware, Hugh Laurie is House and if you gave him thick glasses and more goatee, he would look exactly like Freeman.
My thoughts exactly. Hugh Laurie fits the appearance of Gordon Freeman perfectly.
The newest Halo Reach trailer isn't as good as the other Halo live action trailers. (this one was more of a movie if anything)
Pretty much this. The only real disappointment has been Reach, and that's because it was INTENDED to be a expansion to Halo 3 at a reduced price (since it wasn't a completely new game). Except Microsoft had the brilliant idea of repackaging the entire game with Halo 3 multiplayer and marketing it at full price.
You're thinking of ODST there buddy.
Halo has a poor, unoriginal storyline. I would waaay rather see BioShock or Half Life 2 as a movie.
I've never really gotten this argument whatsoever. I liked all three game series: Half-Life, Halo and BioShock... hell, to be fair, BioShock was my LEAST favourite of the three (however I did still enjoy it). Actually give some EVIDENCE as to how Halo's story line is unimaginative. Honestly, if it IS unimaginative please give me a list of other games that revolve around megastructures that are actually weapons of unimaginable destruction designed to purge the galaxy of a parasitic alien species (by killing its food source), and which also have an interstellar war at their core which, fuelled by religion, threatens to activate these megastructures under the misguided belief that they're essentially portals into heaven. Really, if there are other games LIKE THAT out there I'd really love to play them. So by all means, tell me of those games. Oh, and then on top of that: mid-story the bad-guys have their own civil war break out which throws things into even more disarray. Making the previously bad-guys become good-guys was pretty neat, instead of doing what every other game or movie seems to do: good guys turn bad. Bungie made it happen vice-versa. For the amount of love that BioShock got I felt kind of duped. Fun as it was, it didn't live up to all the hype that it got in the gaming world for me. The game play was pretty fun, and the environments were neat, but the story was a little empty in my opinion and dragged on somewhat. The twist about Fontaine was quite good and spruced things up a bit again, but then towards the end it started to run out of steam once more.
You're thinking of ODST there buddy.
Fuck. I always do that. Gonna go edit the post.
No, this film should not exist. It would ruin Halo, if fucking ODST didn't already do that. What I'm saying is, if there is a Halo movie, it will be a popcorn flick. A cheap generic uninspired action explosion fest that will only hold the attention of twelve year olds, just like all the games.

Not to mention all the back story behind the Spartan Program, Military involvement and How humanity was fighting each other when the bad guys came from no where and started killing us all for their religious reasons. OR how the Massive weapons "Halo" Came to be. Halo has one of the most intelligent and well organized stories I've ever seen and read.
Fuck. I always do that. Well alot of people are trying to rip it off. But hell, the thing is that it would be cool. But if they're going to botch the story like in HALO: REACH then why make it at all?
I love Halo, but I hate the idea of a Halo movie. I mean, I wouldn't say Halo has a bad story, but its certainly isn't the best story I have seen in a game. besides, I can tell a Halo movie wouldn't be about the story at all, more for the special effects. That's why I am glad Mass Effect is getting its own movie, and I would LOVE to see a Bioshock movie!
wrong community to ask. obviously, they'd rather have a tf2 movie. i would like to see a halo movie, from the live action trailer, you could tell it would be pretty good/interesting disagree/box bandwagon incoming. [editline]08:33PM[/editline]
You're thinking of ODST there buddy.
he was referring to ODST [editline]08:34PM[/editline]
That's why I am glad Mass Effect is getting its own movie, and I would LOVE to see a Bioshock movie!
and this
Should Halo have a movie? A better question is, should every beam of light that touches anything vaporize it? No. Of course not.
I would waaay rather see BioShock as a movie.
It's coming
I think they should continue their "Live action trailers". Maybe like once or twice a year to keep everyone at ease. I find them neat but I dislike the game all in its own.
ITT people who think Halo's story is limited to the games
why should a retardedly-hyped franchise deserve a movie? even if it sucked, the die-hard fans, and kids will just say it's good.

Has anyone seen that phone commercial where they use the Master Chief armor.
I have.
The ring in halo is an exact copy of a book called Ringworld. Parasitic organisms that take control of the people they infect... You can find that in Half Life, Starcraft, and anything with zombies in it. All those events you've mentioned are just plot turns that Bungie creates because they can't stick to one storyline. Bungie doesn't even do anything to express that the plot has changed. In Half Life 2, when you break into Nova Prospekt, you start seeing rebels who have joined your cause. However in Halo, when the elites side with the humans, you will still fight elites. Bungie couldn't replace them with anything?
Halo is nothing like ringworld in any way. Halo has a deep and meaningful story with plot threads that explore the nature of the universe, intelligence, aliens and technology. As well as being a grand modern epic that deals with the principles of luck. It looks like just "pew pew aliens" on the surface, but don't be deceived.
gabe newell as gordon freeman and cortana
:suicide:
Halo is a terrible game with unnoriginal, shoddy, garbage gameplay and its story is nothing special. It doesn't deserve to be a movie, at all. *pants*

So STFU and go back to missing your tongues for no reason in L4D and getting stuck on thin air in HL2.

Don't get me wrong, Source is a pretty good engine, but Valve don't know how to fix bugs (lolo takes 4 months to tweak a variabl) and they can't code game logic for shit.

So generic zombie apocalypse is original now? HL has a decent story, but it only really got formed in the second installment, and then they started plotholing it up. Valve has been very clear that it is a constructed experience and not so much a coherent artistic narrative. Gameplay wise, L4D is indeed pretty original (for a shooter), but it's marred by the fact half of it doesn't work. But HL2 is stuck 12 years in the past in terms of gameplay.
Why should it? Game movies suck. No exceptions. Oh yeah One name: Uwe Boll. :argh:
I think the WoW movie will be the first good one
Oh wow, a thread about Halo that dissolves into a Halo hate festival. How rare! I wish I brought my camera.
