wow, it takes one thread to take people from hating pewdiepie to liking him.
Liking someones actions doesn't mean you like the person.
If you have the ability to shower every day, you can enter the lets play scene. Recording a ten minute to twenty minute video every day isn't hard, considering he doesn't have a job aside from youtube.
So what stops you from getting dosh like him, if you can just make a video after a shower? It's basically free money, isn't it?
My point was, he pumps out content daily. One video like that is hella easy to make, but he uploads a video everyday. Daily content is hard as shit. Doing that every single day is hard.
It's still not that hard. I'm sure if I had the games, the will to degrade myself by spouting rape jokes, and the humour of a 10 year old I too could make a video every day and not really care. Recording takes maybe a bit longer than the video will be, editing the junk out? An hour maybe? Rendering it? Dunno, depends on the PC and codec. Uploading it? Depends on your connection. In total for a 15 minute video of me spergin' at games? I'd estimate about 3-4 hours tops.
That's like, a half shift at a actual workplace. That's nothing. Doing that every day and raking in cash from idiots would be a fucking sweet deal. But that doesn't mean it was hard work.

Perhaps he wants to be more than a short-lived Youtube "celebrity"? That involves getting an education, going and getting a job, actually putting effort into your life.
Everyone is saying it's easy as shit, but noone is actually doing it and getting loadsa mone. Why is that?
Misread.

Saturation of content.
Kind of hard to get noticed when everyone and their dog is doing LP's.
He has an edge because he can make funny voices, running jokes people like, and girls find him cute, I wouldn't neccesarily say they're skills.
Everyone is saying it's easy as shit, but noone is actually doing it and getting loadsa mone. Why is that?
People will say it's because they're "better than that".
But that's not the real reason.
So what stops you from getting dosh like him, if you can just make a video after a shower? It's basically free money, isn't it?
I haven't had the luck to get the spotlight and obtain so and so many subscribers to make it profitable. It's an inflated market and with a huge amount of people, unless you get lucky and make it big, you'll end up making video after video with no more than a couple thousand hits at max for each. Theres thousands of lets players on youtube while there's maybe a couple dozen or so with any exposure.
I think everyone is just using the fact that his videos are shitty to hate him as a person and everything he does, like how dare he try and start up a little charity event right?
Maybe they're afraid of getting retsupurae'd :v:

Yeah, this is the reason;

Stop trying to act better than people just because they dislike an overhyped Youtube guy. It's fucking stupid.
I'm also not seeing actual reasons his "work" is hard. We're providing arguments that his shit is no-effort income, where's the counter arguments at? Come on, give me something to fight here.
Maybe they're afraid of getting retsupurae'd :v:
Getting retsupurae'd would actually be good. You get a boost in hits from that.

Sorry what did I do wrong?
I'm agreeing with Paul here

And Pewdiepie was the one to make it big. I don't like his videos, but he obviously did something right.

Oh that wasn't aimed at you :v: Sorry I wasn't entirely sure how to structure that post so I just slapped it in there.

He got there early. That's basically it.
My point was, he pumps out content daily. One video like that is hella easy to make, but he uploads a video everyday. Daily content is hard as shit. Doing that every single day is hard.
So is getting up at 5 in the morning to get the 6er bus for work.
Getting retsupurae'd would actually be good. You get a boost in hits from that.
Mostly from dumb retsu fans spamming your videos though. They still do it even after slowbeef asked them to stop. It's part of the reason they don't RP much anymore.
People will say it's because they're "better than that".

One of my reasons is that in order to get out there, you need a vast amount of content up and you need a way to get noticed. I also live with others and I think it would be kind of rude to be vocally active and talking to myself instead of just playing through the game.
He got there early. That's basically it.
He got there early, but he kept himself on that wave by releasing daily content.
That's why I think it's hard work. I'm sure he wasn't the only guy to get lemons in the early days of youtube, but he was one of the first to keep making that rape flavored lemonade all the kids go crazy for.

But like I already said, daily content really isn't hard to pump out when your content isn't actually very good. Yeah, he got there early, yeah he kept it up, props for him dealing with the pile of mental disorders known as the "bro army". But that doesn't mean he's actually a good content producer, or that his work is hard.

I stayed here to actually argue this shit. Bring me fights dammit.

Daily content isn't really well, daily content. They make it in several hour segments and break it down into multiple parts so it doesn't look like they have a week or two week stretch between videos.
[editline]12th July 2013[/editline]
I know what goes on behind the production since I help several people with it. I'd rather do something involving film than to sit behind and talk while playing videogames. It's fun to do at times, but unless you get the right format, it's just awkward.
Stop trying to act better than people just because they dislike an overhyped Youtube guy. It's fucking stupid.
But I'm not doing anything of the sort. My post was directed at those people who think they're better because they don't pander or put out tons of garbage videos. Nobody is claiming his work takes so much effort, but why does that matter anyway?
a good content producer
Makes me wonder what defines good content. If he makes videos his fanbase enjoys, isn't that good content?
I think we can all be thankful that he didn't get a Rust key however.
So much fighting in this thread I made I agree he is helping charity in which is a good cause and such but he is not a bad person but only when he does do the let's plays in which gets annoying and my ear were raped during the few years.
He's a cunt, sure this is a nice thing to do but it's such a blatantly obvious PR move that I'm not going to favor him any more.
Makes me wonder what defines good content. If he makes videos his fanbase enjoys, isn't that good content?
I'd say good content is something along the lines of Two Best Friends play. They have their lets plays on their channel, but they put effort into their videos for machinima. This is a "Good content video"

You can tell that they put effort into the video and it certainly show.
while this is just lazy recording and overreaction.

I can't stand this guys videos but this is for a very good cause, good on him for setting this up
Makes me wonder what defines good content. If he makes videos his fanbase enjoys, isn't that good content?
Maybe to his fans. Perhaps I worded that incorrectly. His content is something that clearly shouldn't take long to produce, it's far too simple to require more than a few hours per upload.
Things like (ughh...) FreddieWs' videos are complex and do take time, he has to do more than sit on his ass playing games whilst screeching obscenities (even if I think he just kinda dropped in quality a while ago). Perhaps I should have used "quality" rather than "good" :v:
