It'd be more popular than gold camo, for sure.
For my second gun I was planning on getting a Ruger 10/22, but everyone around here tells me that they are "a disappointing rifle". I'm planning on getting it tomorrow, should I just go ahead with it?
I wish H&K G3's weren't so damn expensive. I wouldn't mind owning one of those.
My dad had one of those, they constantly jam and destroy shells, his was maintained often too
My dad had one of those, they constantly jam and destroy shells, his was maintained often too
HIs had a problem if it jammed constantly. I threw my CETME together in my garage over the weekend and it functions perfectly.

Ammo's dirt cheap too, and the aftermarket is pretty good if you're into that sort of stuff. I'd do it.

It's insane how accurate you can make those things.

Plus the ammo is cheaper than a red-light hooker and the gun itself is relatively cheap (200-300 bucks for a good one around here) Go for it, if the price is right
So what's the deal with <150$ Mosin-Nagants? Are they worth the money, or should I shell out more for a different gun? Edit: I'm looking to get a cheap gun, but don't want some goofy AR15 or revolver.

It's completely unable to hold a decent grouping and it often bites shells, I've been thinking about getting a bolt or lever action .22 with the hope of better accuracy and better reliability. Not to say the 10/22 is a bad gun, but there can be lemons out there.
Get a Lee Enfield Mk.I through III, they're an extra hundred dollars or so but still awesome.
Not if you want a shooter. In the US .303 is pretty much extinct unless you want to fork over $1 per bullet for some softpoints. Course if you reload then it's not that big a problem, I've got hundreds of .303 casings, just no reloading equipment for them.

UMP-45 That bitch is beast!
UMP-45 That bitch is beast!
bulky ugly gun that recoils like a bitch and has a poor rate of fire for a pistol round

So today my dad and I shot our MAADI or Egyptian AK-47 or whatever. We shot at the 50 yard range. We also used ammo that my dad had in his closet from 20 years ago lol. The gun shot very nice! And only 1 cartridge didn't fire out of 100, so the ammo worked well. I also got some in the bullseye. The recoil was enjoyable actually, and compared to our AR-15, the AR-15 hardly has any recoil. All in all the gun is very enjoyable. Now to get some 10 round mags and buy lots of ammo. Also for some reason EVERY acadmey we went to had no cheap 7.62x39, they only had the expensive stuff for $26. So we are going to buy that 1000 rounds from jgsales. Its fun when you and your dad can go do fun stuff like this.
bulky ugly gun that recoils like a bitch and has a poor rate of fire for a pistol round
The ROF was intentionally set lower to allow for more control when firing in bursts / automatic fire. If you had an MP5's firing rate in a UMP, you'd be all over the place. Have you ever shot one? It's more than a 9, sure, but the .45 in the UMP platform doesn't recoil bad at all. My gun store / range had a UMP-45 you could rent here for a time, but it's gone now. Thing was a blast to shoot. The owner replaced it with an MP5 and an automatic 10/22. Haven't tried them yet.
I ended up getting the 10/22 today, haven't shot it yet, still cleaning it, but I feel like I made a pretty solid buy.

Didn't the G11 blow up because of exactly that?
Didn't the G11 blow up because of exactly that?
I thought the caseless ammo was too expensive.
I thought the caseless ammo was too expensive.
I don't think ammo prices can make a gun explode.
I don't think ammo prices can make a gun explode.
Oh I thought it was a metaphor :v: Went right over my head.
Didn't the G11 blow up because of exactly that?
If the gun was fired extensively, there was a problem with cook-off; though that would not cause the gun to explode, just to fire in auto uncontrollably. That, the complexity of the rifle, and the West German military turning it away killed it.
also because it looked like a miniature aircraft carrier
