Not because it's Taurus, but because the .45LC/.410 gauge is such crap for really any purpose...
..And?
So what are you in need of a handgun for? Because it's not that great at sport shooting, and it's too large and too small a capacity for any real defensive needs/wants...

Because at this moment I do not have one...............................
In all seriousness I might look into a .454 casull by them because I just don't give a fuck, and am going polar bear hunting.
In New Hampshire?

No, I usually go to the moon.

Didn't remington make a 223 pump action gun a little while ago?
Why not?
Can't wait for the year-long discussion of why Taurus is shit ect ect
Nah, pretty much what Ridge said.
It's a handgun without a purpose. Long rifles are far superior for hunting anything that would need a caliber of that size and are significantly more accurate thereby decreasing the chance that the animal would suffer.
I mean if you just want a handgun, you are much better off getting one chambered in a much more reasonable caliber. It will cost you a fraction to shoot, and will generally be much less unpleasant on your arms while doing so.

It's the closest thing an Australian can get to a semi-auto
The Kel-Tec PLR-22 really doesn't look like a pistol. It has a cool design though IMO.

Yeah they made them in a lot of common hunting calibers such as .243 and .270 as well, if I recall.
Why not give FN a go? They're just as good and you can find them in new condition at that price.
Just look through Cheaper Than Dirt.
FNP 357 sig $420

FNX 9mm, 17 rounds $555

FNX 40, 14 rounds $555 (this is the one I'm looking at for my Concealed Carry)

I'm not fond of HK myself, they're gigantic dicks about the pricing of their handguns and ego.
[editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
And you'd be LUCKY to find any kind of firearm with HK's name (used or not) on it in the $600 price range.
I'm intrigued by this, I do love the .357 SIG cartridge but I always though the handguns are way expensive. $400 is in my price range though, definitely. Is Cheaperthandirt a good place to buy though? I've heard mixed reviews.
Also I went down to the gunshop to buy either the Mauser or Nagant I'd been looking at. Instead I found a Swedish M96 they just got in. I fell in love with that gun and bought it on impulse. I read up on it and it turns out it was an excellent choice for my needs. Markings indicate Carl Gustaf armory, manufactured 1905. For 106 years old it's in amazing shape. It's also a god damned tack driver too. Paid $475 for it not including tax. Now I'd like a Norwegian or Danish Krag to go along with it but all of them here in the states are $900+ minimum.

Don't. I have two Taurus handguns, a 1911 and Raging Bull .44
Don't get me wrong, I like them sure, but I've had some problems with them you should not have. Mostly with the 1911 though. But really, a .454 is heavy and unwieldy and I would never trust my life to a Taurus. If you really must buy one, buy a Ruger Redhawk. Or just be sensible and get a high caliber rifle. Yeah, they're expensive to buy and especially to feed but a fucking polar bear is not to be trifled with. As a matter of fact I don't know if I'd ever use a .454 as a primary against any bear, much less a polar bear.
7.62 precision makes me think they chambered a 1911 in 7.62x25mm.

Pretty fuggin ugly looking though.

They're excellent when it comes to delivering stuff promptly. I ordered 2 factory Buckmark magazines from them and got it 3 days later, both of them in the original factory packaging.
Some of the stuff they sell are lemons (but that's mostly dodgy off brand magazines / poorly designed accessories, crappy rail systems and the like, that are best avoided in general). The firearms should be no different that the same brand names than the ones you'll find in the stores.
Also brotip, I checked with some stores, SOME OF THEM they have a fee of around $75 for having a weapon delivered to their store. I would recommend adding that to the overall price regardless of the FFL you have it delivered to.

I was thinking the same thing. The paint jobs are nice and clean with crisp lines, on the other hand it's basically painting guns with ugly patterns...
When I get a camera.
Every time I get money I consider it, but I spend it on ammo instead.
Oh yeah and if anyone is in the Bay Area I have a Mosin for sale, although it is very rough. I'm selling it for 75$.
Or a trade for some 5.56/.223 ammo.
Or a trade for a decent camera.
Didn't you say the extractor was broken or something on it? This was while you did your other thread.

Alright, my FFL never charges me for deliveries but I'll add it up next time.
Didn't you say the extractor was broken or something on it? This was while you did your other thread.
The extractor had a bunch of trouble engaging the rims of the 7.62x54mmR ammunition. I took the entire bolt face assembly apart, removed the extractor, polished the bolt face and extractor, cleaned out some lingering cosmoline, put it back together and the problem mostly went away. It still sometimes hangs up when you try to close the bolt but it's nothing a good whack across the bolt handle won't sort out. Suffice to say it doesn't function as smoothly as I'd want it to. But I did say that the gun is in very rough shape overall.
A bit more TLC would probably fix the problem completely. In the worst case scenario you can always just replace the bolt face assembly altogether.
Awww snap my dad just got a 98% 1903 (Not reworked and matching) and a mitchell's mauser (It's a wallhanger) for only 1k.
Guns to Fire before you die?
Im going to out on a limb and say Mosin nagant
Why would you ever buy a Mitchell's Mauser?
Like, do you like overpriced guns that were molested by some greedy asshole?

Well good on him for the 1903 though, they're great rifles.

My dad bought it from my brother, it happened to be a mitchell's mauser.
Who hasn't fired a Moist Nugget?
I haven't fired one. le gasp
Especially seeing as I live in the US and haven't bothered buying one.
ANYWAY
Storytime everyone
Me and my younger bro just got back from an AWESOME night at the range.
When we went in we rented a .357 S&W Revolver and a .40 M&P semi.
We fired 50 rounds of 38 and 50 rounds of 357 and 50 rounds through the M&P.
We both presumed that I would do better with the semi and he'd do better with the revolver.
Results were results and we were both wrong.
Out of us two I did the best with the revolver. And like wise he did better than me with the Semi (he managed to shoot the paper clip holding the target up accidentally with the revolver).
I thought the 357 kicked less than the 40 and He had the exact opposite opinion from the experience.
Anyway we learnt a thing or two and had an awesome time.
No offense, but I think accidentally shooting a paper clip doesn't necessarily mean being a better shooter.
Hitting where you are aiming makes you a better shooter.
He accidentally shot it and knew that wasn't what he was aiming for which did make it kinda funny.
As I said in my post, I did better with the revolver (shot much tighter groups than him) and likewise he shot far better groups with the semi than me when I did.
This thread turns me on.
