Yes and no.
Not with handguns. Usually only heard of that happening with 12 gauge slugs.
If a .50 cal round passes within a foot of you, it will rip the skin off your body and liquify your internal organs, just from the shock wave....

If it can't shatter glass within an inch I highly doubt it could do that to your organs.

i can't tell if thats sarcasm or if you're genuinely dumb

You don't happen to work for the Daily Mail, do you?

who told you this
he's joking, fuck
Generally no.
Most of the smaller rounds wouldn't be strong enough to break a rip and spear it into your organs,
and most of the larger rounds would just go through the armour.
It's not that round is penetrating through the vest and killing you. It's the shock and power of the round and all of the force with it breaking ribs and bruising your body which could potentially kill you, even if the round never enters your body.

seriously people?
seriously people?
Ive heard people seriously try to tell me this before
My friend who's a big gunnut guy, went shooting with some friends of his. After shooting some gun(sorry I don't have the name) it messed up his shoulder. So, he told his friend to fire from behind. They put the butt of the stock against the back of his shoulder, fired once, and unmessed it up. I'll ask him the name tomorrow.
Rereading this sounds aweful, but I don't want to use the phrase "popped out of it's socket."
Anything newer than an SKS anyway.

Your laws in general are fucked but then again, whose aren't.
Man, I am dying to shoot an APS.

Oddly enough it has helped us in a lot of ways. The "sporting purpose" clause of the 1968 gun control act has really made firearms one of the last products manufactured in the United States. While from a legal standpoint, I disagree with it, from an economic standpoint it is nice to have a market that is artificially kept competitive.

Damn that reminds me how bad I'd like an SVT.

Also, saigas are all true russian guns. Just de-bastardize one and you have the finest AK variant a US citizen can own.

I'm saving up for one.
From what I've seen on Gunbroker, if you wait a while, eventually one will pop up in the $700 to $800 range.
I almost bought a really nice Gewehr 43 awhile ago on Gunbroker, it was even in my local area. Then on the last day someone started a bidding war and the thing went from $600 to $1800 in like an hour.
Where are you? I know a few collectors who load themselves up with G43s, it might've gone to one of them.
Hell, as long as it's look after and not butchered, I really don't care where it goes.
I'm in Idaho. I've only seen one G43 in person here, it was some ugly refurbished gun though. I also saw a badly rust bitten SVT at Cabelas. Most of the guns around here are generic hunting rifles, overpriced AR15s and the occasional caplock rifle musket.
I would love to try shooting a handgun
I recall back the last gunshow, where someone was selling a G43 for ~3000, and a G41 for $4500. They were pretty neat, but I have no idea what the price ranges are usually on those rifles.
The only way to get unique or other wise different guns than what is sold at a store is to go to a gun show. The internet helps a lot too. Just be ready to dig deep into pockets. Those guns don't come cheap.
Yeah, like old Mausers are fucking easy to get. Everyone has one.

Oh hey :australia::respek::australia:
I dunno man, I have muppet arms which probably doesn't help but when it comes to standing shoots I find it a real pig to hold steady because of the weight of that brick of a receiver right over my hand. Prone is fine and though it weighs about as much as a pair of M16s it's not a problem to carry, but actually shouldering it for any period of time gets tiring fast. It's comfy to hold and shoulder though, and since you do most of your shooting on your guts or kneeling out field it's not too bad.
It could be the weight distribution, but an unloaded SLR feels about the same weight as the Steyr. It'd get a lot heavier with a 20-rounder on it, though.
Which corps?
If he hasn't replied yet, I'll think you'll find Mabus is one of the smaller European armies, not Australia.
Oh. :psyduck:
sorta related to firearms, so i thought i'd share.

I took my level iii kevlar soft armor from a groin pad to the range. Shot it at ~5 feet with god knows what handgun (it was some glock, didnt really look. I rented it) with 9mm FMJ. No penetration , but it flew to the back of the range (ripped off the hangar). It would give you a nasty bruise, but it probably wouldn't kill you.
edit:
i think I posted this earlier, oh well.
I'm calling bullshit. Because I know what the Groin protector does. Diddly squat. It to give you peace of mind. That about it. It's to help you keep a positive mind set so when a land mines flies out of the ground and yell "suprise cockfag!!!" You wont think your your nuts were blown off so you don''t have to walk around a dickless freak. If you don't belive me, i'll introduce you to someone who lost a nut.
Good news!
AB 962 has been struck down in a California court as unconstitutional. They said the definition of "handgun ammo" was too vague.
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=385930
AB962 was going to go in effect in about a week or so and it would have banned the purchase of "handgun" ammunition online, additionally requiring fingerprints and paperwork for the purchase of "handgun" ammo in stores. The vague definition of "handgun" ammo under the law would have let it apply to rifle calibers (but not shotgun ammunition) such as 5.56 or .308 or 7.62x39mm as well as calibers like .22LR that are frequently used in both rifles and handguns. This would have created a situation where gun dealers wouldn't be certain of the law, letting the DOJ take away FFL licenses and prosecute owners when they inevitably sold that box of 6.5mm Swedish (because some jackass somewhere has a Thompson TC in that caliber).

But I want a barrel like that for my TC :saddowns:
I wouldn't mind owning a PS90...aside from that damn ugly barrel, and the ammo that i assume is pricey :(

The ammo prices aren't bad, just the ammo it uses is pretty shit.
And you can SBR PS90s pretty easily.
