You haven't seen nasty until you've seen the aftermath of several hundred blank rounds through a machine gun. Blanks are fucking filthy and a lot of MGs have nice little nooks and crannies all over for that shit to work its way into. You have to physically chisel away at the carbon with whatever you can use sometimes.
Hey guys, I need some advice. How much do you think I could get for a Mossberg Maverick 88 28" Field model w/ modified choke? I bought the gun used at a gunshow for $150, I talked the guy down from $180. I haven't shot the thing, but then again I don't have much of a desire for shotguns. I'd much rather improve my rifle collection, or buy more rounds for the ones I have. I also have one more question. Have you guys ever heard of Golden Bear ammunition? I'm looking to get 100 rounds of .30-06 for cheap and Ammunition to Go has this stuff for sale for $57.95. It's non-corrosive, and the website suggests it over Wolf. Is there any merit to this? http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/product_info.php/pName/100rds-3006-golden-bear-145gr-fmj-ammo/cName/3006-fmj Here's a link to what I am looking at.
I shot one of those $2000 airguns yesterday at the local range, it's actually quite fun. And it's also dirt cheap to be there, $4 and you can shoot the airguns as long as you want.
I was thinking of buying an old Lee Enfield with a shot out barrel for around $50 and turning it into a De Lisle Carbine with out the silencer because of stupid laws ( I will still have a thick barrel shroud so it looks like the original), just as a fun thing to do and so I can buy up all the cheap .45 ammo floating around Australia with no guns to shoot them in. Fucking Howard taking all guns over .38 cal. Was thinking of getting one of these imported to AUS: http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/productdetail.aspx?id=TMG-2 And buying some .45 mag from people at my club that don't have guns for them anymore.

There are only two acceptable things to do to sporterised SMLEs: restore them to original condition (if they haven't been drilled/tapped and chopped) or turn them into De Lisles if they have. :toot:
I kinda want to make a De Lisle too, but then I suddenly remember that I don't like Enfields at all :v:

It's a cheap gun to start with so the resale value isn't phenomenal. 150$ is within reach but you might have to go as low as 100$ unless you are very patient and persistent.

It seems to be from what I can tell an entry level shotgun, so to speak. I spoke to a friend and he said he'd buy it for $200 off the bat. I dunno if I wanna take him for a ride like that, but he said he'd be willing and it certainly would make my life easier. Would that be dick move? He just wants a shotgun and I need some money.
sell it for like $150 or maybe $170 at the most if he's your friend then why rip him off like that
sell it for like $150 or maybe $170 at the most if he's your friend then why rip him off like that
$200 was just a number I threw out to him when he asked. I hadn't begun to look around at prices; I mentioned I was interested in selling it and he asked me how much. I don't have my heart set on that specific number though. I think $160 sounds fair, only $10 more than I paid.
you're a pretty bad friend going around profiting from people that care about you.
Woah, I haven't even talked seriously with him about it. Did you not read what I posted? I came here for advice for a good price to sell it for so that I wouldn't be screwing him over. I said I hadn't begun to look at prices. The $200 was a casual remark; hold your horses, don't condemn me yet. And how is making $10 above the price I paid profiting off him? Yeah it's $10, $10 that I'll probably end up buying cigarettes with. Cigarettes that he'll no doubt bum off of me.

kinda related. here's a report of last year of weapon systems for the army http://hotfile.com/dl/37768223/805d6e4/U.S.Army.Weapons.Systems.2010.Department.of.the.Army.pdf.html good read.

How hard would it be for an American gundealer to order from Schwaben Arms
The thing is in Australia they are a rare at rain, there are so many that have really rusty shot out barrels.
I'm aware, I live near Lithgow. The problem is that people just assume Enfields aplenty means you don't need to worry about chopping them, and before you know it something really rare and valuable (even if it is in less than stellar condition) has been bubba'd. There are still 98 of the Pratt & Whitney pre-production rifles for the SAF floating around somewhere, about four here and the rest in the US. The museum has two, No. 2 (on display) and No. 28 (incomplete, sitting in the armoury). They are worth a ridiculous amount of money but it's entirely likely someone's bubba'd them on the logic of "well these things are a dime a dozen so why not", without realising what they have. Always, always make sure you know exactly what your rifle is, where it's from, and roughly how common they are before you make any permanent modification to it.
Just some info for OP, you have gas operation listed, and then a pic of a G36K. That is actually piston operated.
It's not a G36K, those have 12 inch barrels instead of 9 inch barrels, like the G36C.

What do you guys think?
Looks like Mr. M14EBR and Ms. AWM had a lovechild. Would look a whole lot better without the folding stock. Probably pretty fun to shoot though.
