I was curious about getting a glock as a next gun, once I turn 21.
But what, in your opinion, is the better glock, the 17,19, 21 or 22.
none are better than the other
it just depends on personal preference
the 17, 21, and 22 are full size guns, and the 19 is compact. I like the glock 19 because it's compact, and 9mm is cheap and adequate for self defense
Well between the .45, the .40sw and the 9mm glocks
.45 has a lot of punch, but smaller capacity
9mm has less power on target, but you can fit more rounds
.40 S&W has the downsides of both, with the advantages of neither
try them all and see what one you like
Alright, i'll keep that in mind...
I simply do not understand the draw of such large handgun loads.
At the range they are a novelty, but generally not pleasant to fire over time. I also find it rather rude to be honest. Simply having one in a lane near me makes my experience unpleasant. I do not wish to feel my organs vibrate every time you shoot your fucking gun.
In self defense they are utterly useless. The weapons are heavy, by necessity, which makes them unwieldy in extended arm, and the recoil, while controllable at the range, is too large for followup shots. A bullet, however large or fast, must strike something vital to be effective. The weight, recoil, and power of the cartridge all combine to not only make it less effective as a self-defense weapon, but also dangerous to those nearby. While a large bullet doesn't stop a determined opponent immediately, it does cause wounds which will likely kill someone shortly. Even a non-vital hit on an innocent will likely cause them permanent damage or death.
And then there are the people who hunt with them. I find it to be irresponsible to use a handgun for anything other than snake hunting. Using a high caliber handgun over a normal caliber rifle increases the chance of a miss, and thus increases the suffering of the animal without cause.
And once again gunfox has input on a subject he doesn't understand.
Increase the chance of a miss? Doesn't that make it a hell of a lot more sporting than sitting in a tree stand and taking a 200 yard+ shot?
These big handguns lay down a lot more power for a humane kill as well. Plus hunting with rifles is illegal in my state as well as many others.
Arguing that using a pistol is more sporting is like arguing that using a sword is more honourable. I give no fucks about what's 'sporting', if I want to kill something I'm going to pick the most efficient means possible (hint: not a gigantic handgun) rather than hinder myself deliberately to make some kind of point about something irrelevant.
Hunting with rifles being banned is just about the most retarded thing I have ever heard. What the fuck is the reasoning behind that?

Rifle bullets go along way, pistol bullets don't.
Rifle bullets go along way, pistol bullets don't.
Yeah, because they're kind of designed to. I could understand if people were hunting in suburban parks or something but out in large areas of vacant land, that's fucking stupid.
Plus hunting with rifles is illegal in my state as well as many others.
This is plain ridiculous. (Unless the state is just big city like that east coast citystatethingy I never remember the name of)
And once again gunfox has input on a subject he doesn't understand.

If you are out there for sport, then you are out there for the wrong reasons. When I say "miss" my concern isn't that it would miss entirely, but rather that you would hit the animal, but miss the kill shot and force it to suffer without reason.
And the entire point of the post was that I don't understand it. Hence:
I simply do not understand the draw of such large handgun loads.
And if hunting with rifles is illegal, use a shotgun with darts. They are remarkably accurate out to about 150 yards. Moreso than you are likely to reliably get out of a handgun and they pack a hell of a punch.
Rifle bullets go along way, pistol bullets don't.
I don't think the initial goal was to promote pistol usage. If anything I imagine they wanted people to use more shotguns. Substantially shorter range.
Also, my teacher had a proper lesson on the AUG today, apparently the most common jobs on it are triggerjobs and compensators. And damn, it sure is a lot of plastic in that thing!
I can understand why, the trigger is absolute shit. Comp is a little over the top I guess, if you want something that doesn't climb on auto just get an AK-74. :v:
[editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
Fuck it, get an AK-74 no matter what you want, those things are the bomb.
The AUG's around here are for use in IPSC and they comps because all muzzle climb is bad, and when the gun is back heavy, the climb might be a bit more than you accept. It's due to all the internal plastic the trigger is bad we got told.
Rifles are illegal to hunt with in my area. So people switched to muzzle loading rifles, bows, handguns and scoped slug guns.
Just had my uncle order me an FNP-9 (he's a dealer). I'll post pics when I get the gun.. can't wait. I also bought a Streamlight TLR-3 taclight for it and a cheap red-dot site along with a 30 round mag for my Remington 597 22LR.
So exactly what the fuck is the problem with "plastic"
I just don't like guns and plastic mixed together that much. If it was only the stock that was plastic, sure I'd be happy, but large internal parts too? Funnily enough, it still is quite a reliable gun according to my teacher.
Glock 24
Isn't that a compact?
where do you live in florida
Around orlando...
I saw one of those SKS-Ms going for 300 dollars earlier this week. It was a sporter, though, with the ugly thumbhole stock. The fact that it takes regular AK mags is awesome, I think.
Would it be a worthwhile gun? I'm guessing trying to convert it wouldn't work.
Am I considered a firearm nut if I know the names of every weapon in every modern(as in having real weapons) game I play and how to use them?

Well it's Chinese quality, and it is recent.
You can go for it, but no guarantees.
You could just get a Russian SKS and some duckbill mags.
according to my teacher

my contender's barrel
Well, personally I just don't like guns and retards mixed together that much.
My teacher is also a gunsmith as well as a teacher, that's why he brought in an AUG so we could look at it, it's a customers AUG.
And what about my Contender?

To me that reads as "Seller doesn't need to do shit about silencers other than selling them" until I'm proven otherwise, wich is probably soon the way you act.
Also, can you please point out my errors more nicely, rather can calling me a retard and then point to some document?
Chinese SKS's are great, don't believe any stupid fudd myths.
Totally worth $189.
Also, THE FIREARM INTERESTED NORDS DUKE IT OUT

I have one, I know.
I just don't trust their recent stuff, since I dated mine to the late 70s.

I am talking about their recent stuff though.
Norinco puts out great guns for super cheap.
You still said there's laws about silencers, and about me calling you a retard, it's because you seem to build your knowledge on what your teacher says and you are constantly talking about the Contender and its barrel and sights and whatnot.
Well, last time I checked the laws for silencers, I barely knew what it was, but they looked cool. Then suddenly they are everywhere on hunting weapons, therefor I think that on hunting weapons it's legal.
I build some of my knowledge on my teacher, because he has more experience than I have and he is also, supposed to teach me (and you once you get your ass here so we can argue properly and not behind a keyboard)
And I quite like my Contender, I feel kinda different as I have a Contender, and not one of the million Mausers in Norway or the million Nuggets in the states.

The Contender is surely fucked up, but that's kinda why I like it :3:
